This was our first trip to Newport. Thank you Charles for such a warm and informative greeting upon arrival. He had many suggestions on places to go and where to find the best restaurants. The house itself was truly amazing! So many antique collections scattered about. The Lilac Room was a pleasure to stay in. Large with a clean, private bathroom, toiletries, and a shower with great water pressure. The queen size bed was comfortable and cozy. Breakfast was a great time, sharing the table with other guests. The service and breakfasts made were wonderful! All attractions and restaurants were in walking distance or a short car ride away! We highly recommend the Armistead!

Ramona and Charles were such gracious hosts. We were greeted with a map of Newport, ideas of fun things to do in town, and a tour of the house. We got to see the carrot museum and all of the amazing stained glass artwork throughout the home as well. The porch is a great place to sit, relax, and listen to the birds. Breakfast was absolutely incredible. Food was very very good. Charles also allowed us to park at the property after check out so we can do the cliff walks nearby. I highly recommend armistead cottage to others!

I don’t know where to begin!? The Armistead Cottage is both charming and quirky. There is so much to visually take in and savor. It is warm and welcoming and IMMACULATE!! Our host Charles was gracious, knowledgeable, interesting, attentive, entertaining and an amazing cook. Our breakfasts were incredible, beautifully presented and delicious … a real epicurean delight every morning. Our room was clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful large shower with great water pressure and almost instantaneous hot water. The Armistead Cottage is situated in a pristine and quiet neighborhood. You can easily stroll to First Beach and the beginning of the Cliff Walk. The Mansions, the Tennis Hall of Fame, Boutiques and a variety of great restaurants are only minutes by car. In my opinion, this area has a more laid back vibe than the hustle and bustle found along Thames Street and the Wharfs … which is also quickly accessed by car. My partner and I spent a lot of time on the expansive front porch. We would enjoy our second cups of morning coffee and tea on the porch swing as we planned our days adventures. We invited our friends over for some porch time with nibbles and a tipple or two. They were as impressed with Armistead Cottage as we were. I hope that I didn’t leave anything out!! I highly recommend that you consider Armistead Cottage when planning a visit to Newport. We have stayed in other very nice Newport accommodations but they were just that, ‘a stay’. We would describe our visit to Armistead Cottage as a pampered and relaxing ‘experience’ and one that we look forward to repeating soon. We plan to bring our bicycles with us on our next visit so that we can explore as many of the astonishingly beautiful nearby neighborhoods as possible.

The reason my husband and I continue to return to Newport is to stay at Armistead Cottage. This was our 7th stay within the past 6 years. Charles and Romana are two of the kindest, most amazing people we have ever met. Although the drive from our home can range from 7 1/2 to 11 hours, depending on traffic and accidents, it is definitely worth it. Charles and Romana make every trip special! We visited in December and the house was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The breakfasts are scrumptious and keep us full until supper. Romana and Charles always know the perfect places to go. Because of them, our 2 favorite restaurants are in the Newport area. We look forward to returning soon!

My husband and I have been to Newport multiple times. Although we enjoy everything Newport has - the Cliff Walk, mansions, restaurants, etc., the reason we continue to return is to stay at Armistead Cottage. We love it here!! You can feel the warmth each time you enter the house. Charles and Romana make each visit special and give us something that we will never forget - priceless memories! Spending time with them at breakfast is our favorite part of the day. The house is always clean and has many unique pieces. We especially enjoy the carrot museum, Romana's stained glass and shell art. Her creativity is amazing! Her suggestions are always helpful. She offers us ideas to make each trip different. Charles and Romana are two of the kindest people you could ever meet and we look forward to returning to Armistead Cottage soon!

Armistead Cottage B&B was a great find! The hosts and atmosphere were welcoming, the location and parking- easy, breakfasts were delicious and the (Lilac) room was cozy. After busy days of sightseeing this place seemed like going home each evening. Thanks Romana and Charles for the restaurant recommendations!

My wife and I had 2 nights here in September, it is a great base to explore Newport. Our hosts Ramona and Charles made the booking process easy for us and Ramona looked after us while we were there extremely well. They do have a carrot museum there which was really quirky, we too an exhibit from the UK which now has its own place in the B&B We had the lilac room which was spotless, bright and spacious, I'd recommend this room. My only niggle was breakfast, on both days we had muffins and other sweet offerings, we were the only guests and it would have been nice to have been asked what we would like, I asked for toast on the last morning having been given crisp bread the day before. If you want an excellent base to explore beautiful Newport, you won't find much better

Had a fabulous 7 nights stay at Armistead Cottage, our first visit to Rhode Island. Romana was so helpful in recommending places to eat and visit. We enjoyed relaxing on the porch with a glass of wine after a busy day sightseeing. The cottage is quaint, eclectic, comfortable and clean, with all linen changed regularly. Nothing was too much trouble and we certainly felt at home. We would love to return if we ever visit the States again. Thank you Romana.
