Tried to charge me an extra 40 dollars a night after I already reserved the room and had my invoice. Tried calling for hours and send several emails to call me back and they did not even have the curtesy to call me back or email me. Very unethical business practices and they have no sense of customer service . Besides that they call themselves a Bed and breakfast and they were only going to give you a muffin and coffee at your room ?????? SHADY
Recently stayed at the Murray house to go to a wedding at Newport Rhode Island. Booked two rooms, the Garden Terrace rooom and the water view mini suite. Rooms looked very nice were very good and beds were comfortable. All communication was done through email and Noreen was quick to respond. Enjoyed my stay and if I’m every in the Newport area I will look to book at Murray house again
We attended a wedding at nearby Rosecliff and stayed for 3 nights at this quiet, well-appointed b&b. Noreen greeted us along with her cat Max and made us feel at home immediately. We enjoyed the hot tub, koi pond and gardens. It was a bit too cold for the pool but it was very clean, maybe next stay! The room was clean and comfy. The electric fireplace warmed the room quickly and the kitchenette was stocked with butter, creamers, coffee, a great selection of teas, and dishes, pots and pans. We will definitely be returning for another stay.
This place is comfy, cozy and quiet. We enjoyed our stay so much, we hated to leave. We stayed in the garden room and had our own private courtyard. The pool and hot ton area was beautiful. Our room had a very generous sized bathroom and so many fun decorative touches. Everything was exactly as pictured online. It is also an easy walk to the beach, the mansions and Bellevue ave.
We where in town for the annual Newport Jazz festive and our stay at Murray House Bed and Breakfast was the perfect location for the 10 minute drive to Fort Adams State Park were the festive is held. The room was quaint and private with a sun porch, our own balcony with a view of the pond. Lots of rest and relaxation at Murray house when we wanted it as the neighborhood is very peaceful. The Cliff Walk and Bailey beach are a 10 minutes walk at the most and the swim and lazing at the beach were wonderful. We used the in-ground swimming pool and hot tub daily. There's lots to do in Newport other than the festive and we took full advantage of being close to most all of those activities. Visits to downtown were easy, Mansions where close by and Ocean Ave starts close to the property so a bike or car ride along the coast was most enjoyable. Thank you Noreen for a wonderful getaway at your lovely B&B! Tom and Marion…
Noreen is a gem and so is her B&B. The location was perfect and the room was spotless. Do be aware that because of the humidity, location and antique decor, there is a very strong musty/mildew odor. Noreen did have a dehumidifier running, however, if you have allergies as I do, it was difficult to breathe and so I did limit my time in the room. The property itself is beautifully maintained and wonderful for just relaxing by the pool. Thank you for the hospitality! I loved Newport and look foreword to visiting again.
What an amazing place. We couldn't stop commenting about how cute and cozy it was. Amazing location, from watching the brilliant sunsets to eating breakfast on the deck we couldn't have asked for anything better. Walking distance to tour the mansions and short drives to shops and restaurants. The host was fantastic with great suggestions and tips. Will definitely be returning in the future.
We had the absolute best time staying at Murray House. Noreen made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The location was excellent and we couldn’t be happier. We will definitely be staying here again.
We stayed in the Poolside Veranda Room with our 14 year old Yellow Lab. The room was nice and clean. Noreen (owner) was very informative, she sent emails outlining pet friendly restaurants as well as other local things to do. It was 26 degrees out so no pool or hot tub usage, but we would come back in the warmer weather to use them.
My husband and I wanted a quick, but romantic weekend getaway to celebrate our upcoming wedding anniversary. We stayed in the Garden Room which has its own private entrance and patio. Because of Covid, Noreen couldn't provide breakfast, but left us a basket filled with snacks. Our room was cozy, warm and I adored the safari theme. If we were staying longer, I would have taken advantage of the kitchenette. We were provided with almost everything we would need to make food at the room. The koi pond was adorable and I know the garden would have been a gorgeous sight had we visited in the spring, but its OK. I find it as a motivation to come back during the warmer months. Location wise was perfect. It was quiet, and close to the Newport Mansions and a trolly stop. We drove everywhere due to the cold, but if you're visiting, the walk to the more tourist-y places doesn't look too bad. The thing that I appreciate the most was that she was communicative. She told us where to park, recommendations on where to eat and do. We never felt lost or confused. My husband and I had such a relaxing weekend and we are already planning to come back in the warmer months to finish exploring the mansions, see the garden at its full color and get in the water at the beach.…
