We stayed here recently and had a great experience. The inn is well located and it's an easy walk to many attractions. The small plate breakfast was a dleightful surprise - the food was excellent and elegantly displayed. Highly reccomnend a stay here.
We loved our stay at Gilded! Our room was beautifully decorated and felt more like home than a traditional hotel room. We stayed in a queen deluxe room and we had plenty of room for the two of us. Breakfast was not only tasty but also presented, literally, as pretty as a picture. There was a large variety each morning and everything we tried was delicious. There was a hot water kettle out each evening, along with a wonderful sampling of teas, a pitcher of cool water and granola bars. The courtyard was a wonderful spot to eat breakfast each morning and the outdoor sofas and fire table were a great spot to enjoy a hot cup of tea after a long day of touring the mansions. The staff was attentive and took wonderful care of us. The common rooms in the property were vibrant, colorful and inviting. We would not hesitate to stay at Gilded the next time our travels bring us to Newport.…
Great location for Newport. Ample free car parking. Very warm welcome. Another Lark Hotel that makes you feel very relaxed. Room was lovely and quiet, with all the amenities needed. Breakfast was informal and delicious. Although coffee could’ve been better. Would recommend to stay if you’re in Newport for a few days.
Loved my stay here - great location, unique decor, comfortable rooms, and amazing small plate breakfast. We stayed in the Gilded Suite and we fell in love with the decor the second we opened the door.
Gilded is a very upscale, funky, trendy inn 2 blocks off Bellevue Avenue, about a half mile walk to the waterfront. The exterior is an unmistakable bright purple and décor and furnishings throughout are in vivid colors, in a bordello-esque style. There is a small billiard room and an outside patio for enjoying a cocktail or the included breakfast. Breakfast is a daily changing assortment of lite bites served buffet style - usually a quiche-like egg dish, fresh fruits, yogurts, scones, breads or pastries, and of course coffee, tea and juices. We booked a Standard Queen room and although the bed, bath and details were modern, aesthetically appealing, and very clean, the room was painfully small to the point of being cramped and non-functional for 2 people for 4 days, with not even a chair to sit on. It was also on the third floor and there is no elevator and no help with luggage, and nowhere to store luggage if you arrive early or check out and spend the day in town. There is also no bathroom for use in the lobby area – if you arrive early and need a bathroom, you are out of luck. At the rate of $400+ a night (Summer, mid-week) I feel like it was not a good value at all. Obviously, you can book a much larger room or suite, but these run in the range of $600-$800 or upwards per night. None of the rooms (not even the suites) have mini-fridges, but you can use the communal mini-fridge in the lobby area. Newport is a very pricy destination and room rates have gone up considerably in the past year, but with all of the lodging choices in town, I feel there are better places to stay for your money, especially if you value location and a spacious accommodation.…
Went there for our anniversary and had an amazing and relaxing stay. No hustle and bustle of large hotels and it was a great location -- close enough to easily walk to attractions; far enough to remain quiet.
Great decor and atmosphere. Comfortable bed and bedding. Friendly staff ready to accommodate any requests. Convenient location. Delicious breakfast. Easy parking access. Would stay again and recommend to family and friends.
Awesome neighborhood boutique hotel. Service was wonderful and the rooms were quaint. Atmosphere was funky modern vibe. Breakfast had many choices: quiche, Mellon, salmon, pastries, eggs, grains… and Coffee! Great meal to start the day. Will stay here again. Plenty of parking.
We stayed here for one night to visit Newport. The hotel lobby and rooms have a stylish design and fun colors. The room was very small but functional. Breakfast looked pretty though food was just average. However the service was unacceptable. We checked out early and walked from the hotel to do the Cliff Walk, which they recommended. When we returned to hotel to get our stuff, I asked to use the bathroom. I was told no, since we already checked out we could no longer use bathroom. This was at 10:50 am and checkout is at 11 am, which I pointed out. I mentioned we had a long car ride ahead and was still told no and laughed at. This is not how you treat any guest, let alone someone paying close to $500 per night.
Extremely trendy and fun design. Affordable for new port and about half a mile from most things so definitely a walkable distance. Breakfast was so cute and delicious, better than most spreads we've had at other hotels/BnBs. Would for sure come back!
