We loved our stay at Gilded! Our room was beautifully decorated and felt more like home than a traditional hotel room. We stayed in a queen deluxe room and we had plenty of room for the two of us. Breakfast was not only tasty but also presented, literally, as pretty as a picture. There was a large variety each morning and everything we tried was delicious. There was a hot water kettle out each evening, along with a wonderful sampling of teas, a pitcher of cool water and granola bars. The courtyard was a wonderful spot to eat breakfast each morning and the outdoor sofas and fire table were a great spot to enjoy a hot cup of tea after a long day of touring the mansions. The staff was attentive and took wonderful care of us. The common rooms in the property were vibrant, colorful and inviting. We would not hesitate to stay at Gilded the next time our travels bring us to Newport.

We loved our stay at Gilded. The main areas were very nice and the staff was very friendly and helpful with recommendations. They provide you with chairs and towels for the beach which was a very helpful touch. Parking was plentiful in the lot as well as on the street right outside. We had a queen room on the 3rd floor and the size was fine for the 2 of us. My wife loved the decor in the room, bathroom., and common areas. The main area of Thames street is just a 10 minute walk but the walk back to Gilded is all uphill. The bathroom water heats up very warm but the only negative of the room was that the water pressure is a little low, but its doable. The breakfast they provided is all home made and delicious for something quick before heading out for the day like different breads, oats, yogurt, eggs, fruit.

Well maintained and interestingly decorated property created from two historic homes. Excellent communication from management prior to check in. Our room was a very small 1st floor room, which sits between the front and back doors of the inn. I recommend an upper floor to avoid the noise associated with being adjacent to the doors and main hall. Will was very friendly and attentive. Free off street parking and WiFi are provided. Located on a quiet residential street.

A few things that could be done better include providing a bathroom sink larger than 6 x 15 inches- literally so small you can't wash your face or barely fill a glass; the nightstand was situated such that the dresser drawers couldn't be opened; the bagged breakfasts (in response to Covid) were one size fits all- perhaps asking guests what they like would avoid wasted food when they include food that the guests don't like.

We recently stayed on the 3rd floor with the room facing the back. The bed was comfortable and the room had a t.v. with several channels to choose from. The only gripe we had was the shower is very small/short and there is not much room with the toilet. We stayed (2) nights, so there is no daily room cleaning, but you can call for any towels (we did and the service was fast). There is a breakfast set up to eat in or take to go (paper bag), along with coffee. The selection is o.k., but who cares since the food is free. The location is walking distance to downtown Newport, so we were happy with seeing the old homes along the way. The parking in the back can be tight but you also have options to park on the street. Overall a decent experience if you want to get away from your typical hotel experience

Hello TheRock70, We couldn’t agree more that our bold boutique makes for anything but a typical experience! We’re glad those unique sensibilities mostly resonated with you. From our free parking to our outstanding location, it was our pleasure to help make your stay convenient. And if you’re craving a more spacious layout, we recommend exploring some of our expansive floorplans like our Gilded or Lark suites when you return. We have a feeling you’ll be blown away by them. Looking forward to seeing you back in Newport!

This was our first trip to Newport, and we picked The Gilded Hotel based on the great reviews and cool looking pics of this beautiful place. It is both modern and historic. And that eclectic combination is what makes this hotel so delightful. From the moment you arrive you are transported to what is essentially an old-world Victorian style home but once you step inside you are surrounded by cool, hip and trendy interiors straight out of Soho. We loved it so much!! Our room was even more charming. We came to Newport to celebrate our birthdays and the folks at the Gilded made it especially nice with a welcoming homemade cake, champagne, and balloons in our room (for a small extra fee that was well worth it). They made us feel like special guests and made our stay so memorable. They were always very friendly and accommodating to all our needs. The breakfast every morning was beautifully curated with freshly prepared selections that were always different and delicious. Also, it is centrally located so you can stroll down to the wharfs and enjoy the town without having to drive all over. We loved everything about this hotel, and we will definitely be returning. It's the kind of place that speaks to your soul and stays with you long after you leave. Run, don't walk and book a stay at The Gilded.

I wanted to have high praise for this B&B, the other reviews were so nice. Maybe my review is based primarily on Value, which was not on par for $900 a night hotel rooms I’ve stayed at in my years of traveling. Granted it’s midsummer in a busy town with events , and festivities every weekend, so they bump the room prices, fair enough. But even that has its limitations in my opinion. For $300 a night this place is nice. Room was clean, same with bathrooms. VERY small, but as expected. The breakfast was a complete let down, assorted cold oatmeal mixtures with nuts and fruits. Nice for some but I was expecting more for the room costs. The front desk clerks were nice.if they want to charge these prices, then please pay some attention to the little things, the busted lion on the front porch, the porch swing with rusty chains, the room drapes falling off the rods, and update the worn out furniture. Photos attached. Maybe even clean the rooms when visitors are staying 3 days.
Sorry Gilded for my honest review.

Hi BeautifulPlayers, Thanks for hanging out with us! In reading your feedback, we see that while you enjoyed many of the features our property offered, our value proposition wasn’t there for you. While that’s disappointing to read, we certainly appreciate that note and some of the more pointed constructive feedback you’ve taken the time to share. Our rates evolve throughout the year and we work hard to remain in lockstep with the area to ensure we’re offering our guests competitive accommodations. To that end, we hope you’ll check back with us during your next Newport visit to see if what we have available is more in line with your tastes. To your housekeeping note, we do offer daily room turnovers upon request. Just let us know your preferences at check-in and we’ll happily accommodate. Hope to have another chance to impress you!

My boyfriend and I decided to get out of the city for a night and head to Newport. The staff at Gilded was so accommodating. Peter gave us great suggestions for things to do, and we ended up seeing an exhibit at the Redwood Library we'd never have known about if it weren't for him. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the complimentary gourmet breakfast was a delicious added bonus. Onsite parking was a perk. We also enjoyed playing in the billiards room. They really pay attention to every detail at this hotel. Well kept, unique property, a 10 minute walk from downtown Newport. It was the perfect getaway!

Large home turned into a hotel (more like a bed and breakfast) with each room decorated in “old Newport” glamour. Very comfortable beds and high quality sheets. The best was the free breakfast with a large assortment of options including a homemade egg / sausage casserole (not just standard continental breakfast). Also has free parking which is a huge benefit in downtown Newport (other larger hotels charge $35 / day). Within walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

This is one of the most eclectic places I've every stayed in. A vast diversity of styles, colors and patterns comes together in a tasteful atmosphere of "different". Hard to describe everything going on here, but it's all set in an old residence with 17 guest rooms. Sunday buffet breakfast consisted of 8 different home made choices. Overall a great experience-big clean room & bath, billiards room, common dining area, courtyard, porch, ample parking.

Found this spot for a quick one night getaway with my spouse. This is more of a boarding house/bed and breakfast then a hotel- so heads up if you’re expecting a boutique hotel. The place is centrally located but just a bit off the main downtown area- no downtown noise but walking distance, perfect! Decor is neat and eclectic, guest services was accommodating and kind and the breakfast and coffee were fantastic!
My only complaint was that the bed wasn’t comfortable- it was super bouncy and felt like a cheap air bnb mattress which didn’t fit the vibe of the whole place. Everything was really nice otherwise and would highly recommend this spot.

Hi, thanks for your question, and thanks to all the previous guests for their answers! Gilded can accommodate kids really only in the Lark Suite, Gilded Suite and Queen Suite rooms. (There's an extra per person charge, see our policies on our website.) Gooseberry Beach is about 2.5 miles and Easton Beach is a little over a mile from Gilded. There's a great link to info on area beaches on our website as well. We hope to welcome you soon!
