I really enjoyed this hotel ... especially after seeing some of the other hotels in Newport that were even more expensive I realized that the Auberge Vanderbilt was really worth it. The room was nice but not too over the top; comfortable bed and a duplex which had a nice feel. There was a pool but too cold to use. The rooftop bar was the best especially at sunset. Honestly the staff were really nice and lovely but they seemed a little thinly staffed ... maybe it is the end of the season? Not sure. Despite all of that I thought it was the nicest hotel in Newport. The restaurant where we ate for a birthday dinner and a breakfast was really excellent; I am not sure who the chef is but I thought the food was fantastic and great service in the dining room. I would return for sure! Great location!

Hotel's Favorite
This was our first trip to Newport and the Vanderbilt staff made the experience extremely pleasant and relaxing. Hotel was centrally located and the accommodation was most luxurious. Suite was gigantic and comfortable. Bathrooms were spectacular.

We visited the Vanderbilt to celebrate my son's birthday, I called in advance and spoke to reception and they prepared a wonderful surprise for him in our room and his brother with homemade cookies, milk, a tepee to play in, and a plate decorated to wish him a happy birthday, he was thrilled! As soon as we arrived at the hotel we were greeted warmly with a glass of Rose for myself and my husband. We continued to enjoy the beautiful hotel, with the lovely garden, the great restaurant, playing chess in the lobby which our children enjoyed, the indoor pool and lovely roof deck. The staff and the servers in the restaurant were always gracious and went out of their way to greet us all through our stay with outstanding service. We stayed in the Captain's Loft which I would recommend for families with children as the two levels was great, however the pullout was a double bed so best suitable for young children. The bed upstairs was very comfortable with lovely linens. The hotel had the doors open to the garden at reception and also all the windows were open in their beautiful restaurant and the staff and guests always wore masks in common areas, so we all felt they did a great job managing with COVID. We are very much looking forward to our next stay at the Vanderbilt!

My family and I stayed to celebrate my birthday and our visit at the Vanderbilt was exactly as I had hoped. The location is ideal. We were able to walk everywhere and never had to get into our car the whole weekend. The building and decor is beautiful and charming. The staff, especially Tony, went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and cared for. We had an amazing dinner at the Gwynn, with careful consideration for my gluten allergy. I would highly recommend this hotel and will stay again and again when we return to Newport.
