The Almondy Inn is the B&B I have ever stayed at! Everything about our stay from the lovely welcome we received (from John, who we would later get to know as our personal tour guide) to the fabulous room was outstanding! The entire B&B is immaculate and they really have thought of everything. The breakfasts Laurence made were varied, delicious, and not to be missed (don’t schedule lunch early, you won’t be hungry for hours) and service was again, outstanding (the ladies that work there are very sweet). Mid afternoon make sure to grab a cookie, and don’t miss the complementary wine and cheese at 5:00pm! The location was wonderful and Laurence and John go above and beyond to make your stay perfect We would highly recommend staying here to all. We will definitely be back! Thank you, L & J

Property's Favorite Review
We took Amtrak from Penn Station to Newport and enjoyed a very nice short weekend. The hosts are amazing- John and Laurance. On arrival we enjoyed some fresh cookies and were given directions on the local walkable area- both high end (Castle) and low end (Food Truck on the wharf) options for our lobster rolls. The location seems to be smack in the middle of Newport which is a lot larger than I imagined. Rooms were clean, quiet and with fireplace. Each room has a different flair and would recommend the Burgundy. Extremely happy and can not wait to return!

My wife and I just had the pleasure of staying at The Almondy Inn for a weekend getaway. We reserved six months in advance given the terrific reviews here on TA and found the 5-star reviews to be absolutely true. First off, the place is beautiful and has a parking space on the side or rear of the establishment for every room. That's a huge plus since parking seemed to be difficult on the street. Everything throughout the Inn is tastefully decorated with a classy French touch. We stayed in the Plantation Room, which was quite nice. Very comfortable beds with a nice private bathroom with jacuzzi tub. What I think really sets The Almondy apart though is the Innkeeper couple - John and Laurence. Each could not be nicer or more engaging and you can see the joy that that they get from entertaining guests and seeing them happy. As an example, Laurence simply glows with an infectious smile when she knows that something she has made for one of the incredible breakfasts has pleased you. The love of hospitality is also evident in the staff, who are kind, friendly, and attentive. As I mentioned above, the breakfasts were incredible and Laurence (who is very French and does all the cooking) surprised us with something exquisite each day after learning our dining preferences and restrictions at the beginning of our stay. In addition to the breakfasts being delicious, everything was, of course, plated in a beautifully artistic French way. Finally, the Inn is small enough that all the guests felt like we knew each other after dining together for breakfasts and the wine and cheese hour that John and Laurence host personally each evening. The Inn is centrally located in Newport and is a few blocks from the harbor and only a block from Thames Street, which has lots of restaurants, bars, and shops. Really loved our stay and we will certainly be back!

I scheduled our stay at the Almonds as an "escape the kids" weekend for my wife and me. It was a grand slam homerun! We were in the Plantation room, and my wife said that it was the most comfortable bed she'd ever slept in (for me, too) and she had the best sleep she'd had in years (read since the kids were born). And for us, that was all that really mattered. But there was much, much more. The breakfast was out of this world - Laurence's fresh made pastries were just the tip of the iceberg! And John is an incredible host. We (intentionally) came without a plan, and he gave us some great tips. Of course, The Almondy is located right in the middle of everything (but on a relatively quiet side street), so you can just walk out the door and go any direction and you will find the historic beauty and fun of Newport (which is why I booked there in the first place). The room (Plantation) itself was very clean and had good audio privacy - perfect for an afternoon "nap"! As I said, we slept great, and this was despite the nightclub down the street. (Almondy provides earplugs, but it's not that loud and we always run a white noise app on my phone anyway.) The room is small, but the bed is big and so is the bathroom. If I had wanted to just sit and read, there are plenty of comfy chairs downstairs in the sitting room and rockers on the front porch. Overall, our stay was wonderful and we'll be back!

This weekend my family and I stayed at the inn for a wedding. Everything about it was perfect. John and Laurence are thoughtful, couldn’t be more accommodating, and made visiting the inn so much fun. By the end of our weekend we felt like old friends. The gourmet home cooked breakfast by Laurence, offered variety every morning and was always outstanding. The wine and cheese hour was a great time to mingle and get to know the inn keepers and other guests. The location couldn’t have been better. It was a quick walk to all places down town. It’s also a longer walk or short drive or Uber/Lyft to the Newport Mansions and the cliff walk. Local beaches are a quick drive or ride too. The rooms were pristine, all offering luxury and comfort. In the season of open windows, the excitement of live music and closing time of nearby bars were lively. John and Laurence have thought of everything and guest rooms came accompanied with bottles of water, comfortable beds, soft bath robes, and even ear plugs for a great night’s rest. You also must try Laurence’s homemade cookies upon your visit. Delicious! Sitting on the rockers on the beautiful front porch and chatting with other guests, the owners, neighbors, all while people watching, was an added bonus. The Lanai suite was perfect for three people and could accommodate four and The Blue Bay room was something special! We will be back!

I stayed at the Almondy Inn this past weekend and I was blown away by the amazing, thoughtful and welcoming service from John and Laurance. We stayed in the Captain Quarters which overlooks the beautiful city of Newport. The room has all the amenities you could ask for and more. I only wish the weather was better so we could enjoy our nightly wine and cheese (a service offered at the Inn) outside on the deck. Every morning we had breakfast at the hotel. Homemade pastries, pancakes, eggs and the most delicious quiches. Everyday there was something different to try. John and Laurance went out of their way to make sure we had a memorable experience and it only added to an already wonderful weekend. They knew all the cool places we should checkout and offered great suggestions. You will not regret staying at the Almondy, I know I didn’t.
