The service at this place was horrendous. I don’t even know where to begin but I will just give you one example - they argued with us around whether a certain wine was sold by the glass to the point where we had to go get the room service menu from the room. We were told we could not have food outside on the lawn but then other people were eating out there. These are just a few small examples. For a hotel that costs over a $1000 a night the service was what you would get at a Howard Johnson. The grounds are beautiful but other than that it’s just an average crappy hotel.

We were blown away by our recent stay at The Chanler for my birthday celebration. The location is spectacular, the staff was very friendly and attentive to detail, and the room was impeccably clean. We can’t wait to go back!

We stayed in one of the garden rooms, it had separate entrance, private jacuzzi, and a cute terrace with table. Though the room was small, it was beautifully furnished and had a lovely bathroom with shower jets and jetted tub. We stayed with 2 kids and really enjoyed it. When I called to book, spoke to someone who was extremely helpful, answered all my covid questions and helped me choose the best room for my family. Great service at this hotel, perfect location off the cliff walk. They provided beach chairs and towels for us when we asked. Only thing that could have been better was having a concierge to help recommend and make dining reservations for us, but it wasn’t a big deal. Would definitely stay again.

Booked a last minute reservation. Poor service, more care given to outside guest for dining and service. Very expensive over $1k a night and no service. Hotel staff basically ignored us. Had a dinner reservation for 8 - at 9 we were still waiting. Ignored as we waited. Originally was going to have dinner on our terrace, but the hotel said they had a table in the cafe for 8.

I came as a solo female. I called at about 10 in the morning on August 24 looking for a place to stay in Newport for a quick getaway (due to COVID, I was certainly feeling housebound!) I was hesitant to stay anywhere at first due to COVID and staying at such a nice place by myself. I travel a lot all over the world. Walking into the lobby was the most wonderful experience! I was in the Regency Room. I asked for this room because it had a private outdoor porch where I could eat my meals (I had dinner and breakfast, room service). Due to COVID, I'm still not dining in anywhere. The Adirondack chairs on the lawn are great I sat out there with my wine and enjoyed the evening. In the morning I went for an early swim at Easton's Beach. they brought me a little beach bag with a towel, sunscreen, and water! Outstanding. I want to come back and stay in that same room........
