I have always been fond of lighthouses and castles. For my 30th birthday, I wanted to stay in a lighthouse so we decided to make this place part of out four day trip from NY. We decided to stay here for two nights and chose the Wanton room. I booked this stay months in advance and it was very easy... More

went over on the ferry from newport. had a great time . Short ferry ride which also went to Ft Adams and Jamestown. Toured all the rooms and went upstairs to the foghorn room, very interesting. The Rose Island members were having a clambake that day, and watching fireworks in the harbor that night 7/4

We took the ferry over to Rose Island from Newport in order to have a picnic ~ just something a little different in our journey. The ferry runs on a very specific schedule. If you want to be picked up from the ferry landing at Newport, you have to wait right down where they dock. We waited up by the... More

This is such a unique and amazing place to spend the night. The ride over from fort Adams was quick and enjoyable. The Captain was pleasant and welcoming, he made sure we knew about all of the amenities on the island and provided a historical background of the site. We had great weather to enjoy the sights and sounds of... More

The stay here was a Christmas present for my boyfriend. He is a night photographer and I thought he would enjoy being able to shoot overnight from the island and the lighthouse. We stayed Easter weekend. I wanted to stay in the apartment and it needed to be around the full moon, so I lucked out that Easter weekend was... More

Great idea for a memorable birthday for my husband's 59th. We stayed in the Keeper Apartment. It had all the comforts of home (shower, toilet, full kitchen). Chris was a jack of all trades (boat driver, tour guide, historian, bird expert and grounds keeper) and made the visit extra special. The gulls and geese with eggs and babies were amazing... More

We were looking for a unique experience and we found it at Rose Island lighthouse. We stayed in the Wanton Chase room in the museum portion of the property. It was warm, comfortable bed, and really nice for an overnight experience. We loved the rustic charm of the place, pumping our water, etc. The history and the pictures were fascinating.... More

Staying at the Rose Island Lighthouse as the "keepers" one night in November was a terrific experience - the sights, sounds, furnishings and ambiance were straight out of a dream. This is one unbelievably romantic place. Here are a couple of what I hope are helpful tips and tidbits. tidbit 1: If you rent the apartment and wonder if any... More

Once we got to Rose Island we were impressed and loved every second of it. We stayed in the Fog Horn building which, after seeing the rest of the rooms, was definitely the best option. All the rooms are nice, but the Fog Horn building was secluded, quiet (aside from peaceful ocean sounds), and so so cool. However, it took... More

My sister booked this hotel for one night (to skip out on doing chores!) and said she had the best time. She was a little nervous before going because you're kind of cut off, but they lit a fire at night and had a quaint little room. The sunset was beautiful and she said they would definitely do it again.... More
