This is a really beautiful inn. The rooms are exactly like the pictures. The bed is unbelievably comfortable!! The breakfast room has a wonderful birds eye view from above the magnolia tree and the breakfasts are indescribably delicious!! Phil is a warm and friendly host, a great chef and a wealth of information about the town he obviously loves so...

My sister and I had a quick 1 night stay in Newport, following a family wedding. We love Newport and the charm of the history and marina. This was our first stay at the Artful Lodger Inn and we couldn't have selected a better spot. We were greeted with a friendly smile and toured around the home before settling into...

When my partner and I decided to go to Newport to check out the cottages dressed for Christmas, he suggested a big box type hotel. I don't like them, and set out to find B&Bs. He's never stayed at a B&B and was cautious, but given the price and location of The Artful Lodger, he said OK. Phil called us...

As you may tell, I usually do not respond to the reviews (which I should) but I take them all in, read through them and try to understand the perspective. I was taken back by this review however, it was wonderful to have someone write this which I feel has a very organic view of what I try to accomplish...

We prefer to stay in B&B's everywhere we travel around the globe and the more character a place has the better (within reason), I would say this stay was average and the price was great for off-season travel. Flexible check-in if you notify in advance (fees may apply), lovely views of the Bay/Bridge from the breakfast nook. Easy booking process....

We had an activity-filled family wedding weekend in Newport, and the Artful Lodger suited our needs perfectly. The location is great, and we parked our rental car right across the street from our room, and didn't use it for the entire weekend until we left to come home. It was very convenient to walk everywhere we needed to get to...

Fantastic place and an amazing host. Will go there again and recommend to friends too. Good location. Very nice breakfast. Coffee tea available throughout the day. Very close to the Elms Mansion. 5 to 10 minutes walk from Downtown.

It's a pretty hotel in an old but well preserved house. The breakfast was good altough not great. Our room was beautiful. Everything looked carefully decorated. The hotel is very well located one block away from the main downtown street. The owner was extremely attentive and helpful. Oh, and the bed was wonderful! Best of our trip!

The location is perfect. We left our car in their parking lot and walked to view the mansions, and to restaurants. Driving in the tourist area of Newport is a hassle, so this was a real bonus. The room was cozy and romantic. The gas fireplace worked and the jacuzzi was great. We were celebrating our anniversary and couldn't have...

This was the little place we were looking for traveling in New England. The innkeeper Phil knows his home town. In quick conversations he gave us great places to visit and gave us "insider" information about the local shops restaurants and how to get around the streets. I dont know if it was my friend and I but we had...

We arrived late but had been contacted by Phil earlier in the day to assure us we would be able to enter the Inn upon a late arrival. We did not meet Phil that night but met his sister who helps with the Inn. Or room was very clean with an extremely comfortable bed and nice amenities. We arrived early...
