We got there early, but were welcomed to park in the free lot behind the B&B as someone was just leaving. We walked up to the mansions, and when our room was ready (Suite 8 on the top floor), Margaret called (earlier than the 3 pm check in time) to let us know it was ready. When we got to... More

We booked the house for a long anniversary weekend. Our host, Margaret was excellent. The room was perfect and the house spectacular. There was great parking and we were able to walk everywhere from the location of the house. Now that we found the Chart House Inn we can't wait to go back.

We rented the Chart House Inn Friday-Sunday for a family celebration. There is on-site parking for 6+ cars (amazing for downtown Newport!), and it is a very short walk to Bannister's Wharf, the water taxi, shopping and restaurants. We filled all 8 bedrooms and everyone from grandparents to toddlers felt right at home. The downstairs living and dining areas are... More

For any visitors to Newport this is great spot. Free parking, easy access to Thames Street, and excellent advice and service from innkeeper Margaret, a real pro. She knows Newport very well! There is no elevator so must climb stairs to 2nd or 3rd floor, but rooms are all charming, my bed very comfortable and no problem with private bathroom... More

The Chart House provides quick walking access to the waterfront area, and off street parking makes it easy to come and go to driving destinations. The rooms were comfortably furnished and very clean. All in all, the Inn was a perfect staging area for a great couple of days.

My wife & I stayed at the Chart House Inn for Memorial Day Weekend (Fri-Mon, 3 Nights). The Inn Keeper Margaret was FANTASTIC!!! She was able to let us check in early, and on the Sunday hosted a party for all the guests, which was great because we were all able to meet each other and exchange stories and tips... More

In a few words. Spotlessly clean and quiet. The breakfast was lovely, the coffee was great. The living room area was very relaxing and comfy. The twin bed room we had was much larger than the picture indicated. Oh, and the location. Right were you want to be for dining, shopping, raw bars, and pubs. There's a parking lot in... More

Margaret, the innkeeper, was extremely sweet and accommodating. She gave us a free upgrade to a larger room. The room was spacious for 2 and a dog, and very comfortable. Overall, very pleasant experience.

Stayed Oct 2014, (this site won't go back that far so I had to pick Dec 2014) Great location, great set up, HORRIBLE smell. The whole Inn smelled like cat urine. I couldn't bare to eat our included breakfast each day as the downstairs was the worst in smell and cleanliness. We even found tumble weeds of cat hair in... More

Thank you for your candid comments. I apologize for your discomfort during your stay. As of April 2015, we have replaced the carpet and padding near the dining room. The pet has passed and there are no cats residing at the inn. Please call us for your next visit to Newport and we would be happy to offer you a... More
