Family reunion for Columbus Day weekend. Made our reservations in advance. When we arrived our accommodations weren't quite sorted out. The grandparents got the Dolphin Room which was beautiful but lacked privacy since you entered through the dining room and had no locks on doors. The bigger family got the basements suite which worked out well for them but no... More

We were given the Dolphin room which was originally part of the wrap around verandah and was entered from the dining room. It still felt like sleeping on the verandah. On the plus side, you got a great view over the water and you had your own private balcony. On the negative side, the shower and toilet were minuscule and... More

A beautiful and elegant old house of clapboard, dormers and wraparound porches commanding a fabulous view out across the water. It's museum like interior is a fascinating shrine to the history of both building and family which could be a tad "Miss Havisham" were it not for the fact that the vast collection of artifacts and objet d'art is beautifully... This is a great place to stay and if you can see through all the clutter you will uncover a great history and tradition. Mr Sanford owned Preakness which gave rise the race becoming one of the 3 Classics. Newport itself lives on the history of the Americas Cup but is a pleasant stopover. Sadly the Pool was closed and... More

We chose Sanford-Covell Villa Marina for its beautiful views, its proximity to the downtown area (we could walk or drive), and for its historic connection to Newport. From the moment we arrived, we had the unique experience of being in a home, with many interesting personal touches, Our room was comfortable, with beautiful wood accents, a lovely settee at the... I have been staying at the Sanford Covell for over five years! I have stayed in various rooms throughout the home. My favorite room is the one facing the water called the Kate Room. Anne the owner and entire staff are very welcoming and friendly. Over the years, Anne had advised places to eat and shops. Sasha the family dog... More

This location is fascinating and romantic. We have been there many many times and wouldn't stay anywhere else. The sunsets are spectacular from the porch. Great salt water pool and Jacuzzi. Anne, the proprietor is a lovely lady interested in accommodating her guests.

When it comes to venue and friendly staff Sanford-Covell is a truly a unique B&B. We were staying for two days in the beautiful Covell-room with a nice harbor view and the outside piazza an presented an even more stunning experience especially in the sunset hour. We were dissapointed that the promised free wifi access was out of order and... More

Helpful staff & lovely-Lady-owner... but make no mistake about it... you're visiting someone home... a grand, large, wonderful and eerie place that is like a Night(s) at the Museum. The view is ideal and the back porch beckons you to just sit and chill. The house and my room were filled with all manner of "tchotchkes" , curios, geegaws, souvenirs,... More

The views are spectacular. The management pleasant, informative, and efficient. The rooms, charming and beautifully appointed. The heated salt water pool was an amazing and a pleasant surprise. Oh, and the breakfast muffins were to die for! In short, this is one lovely BnB. Do come and enjoy.
