Wonderful stay in the Tower Suite. Beautiful view and comfortable bed. Extended breakfast selection despite COVID safety precautions...everything was safely contained and able to easily be taken to a distanced location on the beautiful property. Having the Cliff Walk a block down the street was an added bonus and we enjoyed it both mornings we stayed. Delightful stay at a beautiful place with beautiful staff!

We recently stayed over night in the Grovensors Suite. A beautiful room! Just as lovely as the photos. The room was wonderfully clean. In the times we are living that is so important. The inn is beautifully appointed. Lovely gardens and fire pit. The takeaway breakfast was just perfect. The inn was not crowded while we were their so we were able to enjoy our breakfast on the front porch. Just about a block to the Cliff walk, and beautiful views. We are walkers so for us it was a wonderful location. The staff was wonderful and attentive. We loved being away from the downtown area is a lovely quiet area. We would highly recommend and look forward to going back to this inn again

The Cliffside Inn is an immaculate, well maintained 1870's Bed & Breakfast in beautiful Newport, not far from downtown. My husband and I spent Easter weekend in the luxurious Victorian room on the first floor. We were welcomed by a very pleasant host, who offered us lots of ideas for restaurants and things to do in Newport. The spotless, newly renovated bathroom was spacious, with lots of room for all our toiletries. We enjoyed the gas fireplace in the room. Breakfast was excellent; it was served buffet style-- everything was individually packaged (in this age of Covid), from eggs to French toast to muffins to fresh fruit to yogurt parfaits to oatmeal and more. Great selection and plenty to eat. The Inn fell short of five stars, in my opinion, because of the following: Although spacious, the room was a bit awkward with nowhere to use a laptop (no table or desk). The only plug near the bed was behind the bed (which was too heavy to move); the bedside lamps were plugged into the 2 sockets-- there was nowhere to easily plug in my CPAP machine, cellphones, or other electronics by the bed. An easy solution here (besides traveling with a power strip/extension cord), is for the Inn to replace the bedside lamps with lamps that have sockets and USB outlets in them, or supply a power strip. Since there was no clock in the room, we had to rely on our cellphones which were plugged in across the room from our bed; not very convenient when you wake up in the middle of the night looking for the time. Also, take note that this room does not have a mini fridge, but if you have a cooler, there is plenty of ice in the ice machine. There was no hand sanitizer at all anywhere in the Inn, so be sure to bring your own.

The Atlantic suite was wonderful, spacious, clean, extremely comfortable with a nice view to the water. An entrance to the Cliff Walk is 2 minutes away, and it is an easy drive to the waterfront. If we hadn't had an appointment we would have extended our stay a third night.

Hi 664alicei, We would have loved to have had you for a third night but are glad that, even in the shorter period we had together, our inn made an impact! Great choice on the Atlantic suite. My boyfriend and I loved this hotel and plan to return. I would not recommend for families. It is a very nice place for couples. Some of the rooms have jacuzzis and fireplaces. (We stayed in the Atlantic suite which had both.) I have children of my own and would not enjoy seeing children walking around this place. Also, if you plan on having alone time with kids around, good luck as there was no door separating the bedroom from the living area. The one restaurant we had been looking forward to going to was closed. We had looked it up online and had no clue until we drove to the downtown area as the owners had not updated google or their own website. Please do your research if planning a trip here and call places if necessary to make sure they are still open. The pandemic, sadly, has taken a toll on some of the businesses in the area. I would absolutely recommend staying in Newport in the spring or summer when more activities are available. All that aside, this hotel exceeded my expectations. I am already planning a return trip. It was very nice and was not terribly expensive. We stayed one night and they had charged me 50% as a deposit when I booked and I payed the remaining 50% when I checked in.

Hello Sn1634, It was a pleasure to share our Victorian mansion with you and your boyfriend. Great choice in picking the Atlantic Suite! We trust everything from its semi-private deck to its whirlpool bath served you well. We’re sorry that one of the restaurants you chose to visit in Newport was closed during your stay. To your point, some area staples keep additional hours during the spring/summer. We hope your return brings you additional options and makes your exploration of our scenic community feel fresh. Should you need assistance booking your next visit, let us know. Our doors are always open for you!
