Dynamic and breathtaking, Castle Hill Inn promises an exclusive, luxury experience for each guest who visits. The property's 40 acres offer everything from panoramic water views, and rustic hiking trails to private beaches and hidden rocky coves. In summer, guests come to unwind and enjoy the Newport social scene that gathers on the Lawn, which slopes from an elegantly restored 19th-century mansion out to Narragansett Bay. During cooler months, Castle Hill becomes more of a private retreat, perfect for escapes from city life but still close to the amenities of downtown Newport. Year round, the property also boasts world-class dining that showcases the best of Rhode Island's seasonal bounty, Castle Hill's extraordinary setting only becomes more beautiful with each turn of season, and we do our best to match its brilliance with unmatched service for our guests. The fish literally smells bad, lobster tastes like you're chewing a metal can, vegan burger is disgusting. Love the view, but not worth coming back given the horrible food. People who rated it 5 must have had drinks and a couple small appetizers. WHY DOES CASTLE HILL NOT HIRE A PROPER CHEF? Seriously, just a good old chef from another Newport restaurant that actually offers edible food that doesn't make you want to throw up? Tried coming back some five times, unfortunately never ordered anything good.

The location is breathtaking, and the view is undeniably 5 stars. Some other places where Castle Hill received 5 stars is in it’s service employees (restaurant waiters, hosts, valet, tea servers) - all were superb. However, there were definitely some service areas that could use some work. The front desk staff never seemed to know the exact answers to questions and didn’t seem eager to get them. When we checked in, it felt a bit hard to get helpful information. Granted, we were there during Labor Day weekend, so it’s possible that we had *holiday* staff. This was the only place where we felt unwelcome at the hotel, which seems odd. The other frustration came from housekeeping. We were 3 adult women staying in a Beach House (“house” is a strong word), however, they kept making the room up for two. I mentioned at reservation, prior to our arrival talking to the concierge, at check-in and throughout the stay that there were 3 of us, but there seemed to be a disconnect between the front desk and housekeeping. For example, on night 2 we called to ask that turndown service please pull out the sofa bed. They did it that night but not the following night. In any other setting, this would be petty, but we were paying over 2K per night for a very small room (it’s a room not a house). You expect exemplary service when paying that much for such a small space. The breakfast was amazing. Again - we dealt with several waitstaff, valet personnel, & hosts that made us feel welcome and special - they deserve so much praise!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Definitely worth a visit at anytime of day for the views. The bartending and valet staff very nice. We only came for drinks but next visit will be sure to come for a meal. Make a reservation for that definitely. The views are incredible and relaxing. No time limit for sitting on the lawn area. Only complaint would be should add some sort of shade coverage in the lawn area where the Adirondacks are. Looking to stay for our anniversary in May 2023 but already looks booked out! Sad.

We had a wonderful weekend in the Turret suit in early august. We came to my sister's wedding. Most mornings we had breakfast delivered to the room and especially enjoyed the lobster hash. The hotel has a boat that wull take you into Newport, which my eight-year-old son especially loved. That is a great help with not having to park. The access to the beach right out your door is nothing like we can have at home. Service was entirely first-rate. The front desk helped us with dinner reservations and information about the mansions. The valet desk helped us multiple times along with Sydney set up a private sail for us!! There are many places to have a great cocktail including an indoor / outdoor bar. The only thing to note is you need dinner reservations at most places around Newport in the sunner, but that's common sense to anyone who travels. We tried everything the hotel has to offer from the super massage to the bicycle rental. The only downside is you don't see enough people of color running around.

Are you a fan of the Gilmore Girls and wanted to stay at an inn like Lorelei’s? But it’s run by children? And instead of Sukie’s cooking, you get food poisoning? This place is for you! I’m not sure what the story is here, and for a small inn charging Four Seasons prices, there should be no story but they seem to run some sort of international indentured college student program here which means I didn’t receive service from any employee who I could confidently say can legally drink in this country. Why is this an issue? The young staff did not have the experience with providing customer service to guests expecting a $2K/night experience or have the local knowledge to be useful. For example, they sent us to the local train station 2 hours early when you can really just stroll in 10 mins before to catch your train. We stayed at a beach house which was beautiful and had a great view of the beach. Cons: The room had an old a/c unit which was very loud in volume and low in effort with those shutters that are in the bathroom which allows zero bathroom privacy and is a hotel trend that needs to to die. The beach was not well maintained and seaweed was left for days to bake in the sun which caused a lovely smell. You also need to announce yourself as a guest of the inn when you want to eat, otherwise they will tell you you need a reservation to sit. We figured this out on the second day when they wouldn’t seat us for the second time and said in frustration, but we’re staying here?! And then was told oh we do have seats for guests of the inn. Unfortunately, after being seated I did get food poisoning and threw my guts up in the early morning after dining here. If you’re a New Yorker without a car, this place is not for you. Lyfts and Ubers are available but hard to come by. I will not be returning, bottom line the service and the quality of the property do not justify the price tag.

We were not there at a time appropriate for fine dining and to experience their stellar wine selection. But we stopped by for a drink and to sit outdoor the bar and enjoy the spectacular view. But be prepared to pay!! Two drinks with tip and valet parking ran us $70.00! Nice memory but sticker shock.

Attended a wedding here. The hotel and staff did a very nice job. Location couldn’t be better for this type of event. Food was awesome. We were served fresh seafood, oysters, shrimp, lobster, clams. Main course was steaks done perfectly. Great evening all around. Will have to come back

We booked a 7:45pm outdoor table in the restaurant, after enjoying cocktails on the lawn. After sitting for a half hour and no server appeared to take a drink or food order, we called the restaurant from our cells and asked for someone to stop by and check on us. Another half hour passed by, and we were getting hungry. Servers were serving other tables around us sporadically but they studiously ignored us. Finally a harried server came up to say their computers were down and would try to get to us soon. After ordering appetizers and a main, we decided not to order any wine or cocktails since we were getting angry. We still didn't even get a glass of water. Suddenly the main courses arrived before the salad/soup. Even our server was surprised at this. When I asked for a comp glass of wine for the inconvenience, she told us she couldn't do that, as "we would have to give that to everyone". Wow, real classy there! Finally I asked for a manager to talk to us. He apologized and offered to comp us our iced tea. (Wow, again, really nice gesture there!). It was getting so late we finally told the server to forget the salad/appetizers and just give us our check. That is, of course, when the appetizers (an hour and a half late) show up. This time, they do the right thing and comp us the entire meal. So we just boxed it up and will enjoy it as lunch later. Not sure we ever want to go back. Textbook case of how not to handle a problem. Just send us a glass of wine and tell us you're having issues! Don't just let us sit there. staring into space!
