We stayed four nights for our anniversary over the first weekend of June. In the plus column: + Complementary breakfast delivered to the room. + Complementary (very good) sangria in the afternoons. + Excellent location with great walkability to everything. + Very quiet. + The private rooftop decks in the townhouse suites are perfect for enjoying the sunset with a bottle of wine. + TERRIFIC front-desk staff. In particular, Hunter pointed us to the best meal we had (at Scales & Shells), and Lori saved us from starting the Cliff Walk in the wrong place due to a temporary closure. Mostly minor quibbles in the minus column: - The rooms are a bit dated (though very clean). - There was a lot of early-morning light in the sleeping area, and no way to get rid of it. - We couldn't get the fireplace in our room to work, though we must allow for the possibility that we are incompetent. - I wouldn't have hated a power source on my side of the bed, or an extra rack in the bathroom for hanging towels. Overall, though, a terrific stay and we'd definitely return.…
My wife and I stayed here for 2 enjoyable nights. The suites are spacious and the hotel location is great to walk around Newport. The continental breakfast brought to our room in the morning is a nice touch as well as the welcome bag. We will definitely stay here again! Also, the people working the desk or delivering our breakfast are friendly.
This place exceeded all of my expectations, I really loved it. The staff was super friendly and helpful, every detail was thought of. By the small side entrance with a small sitting area there are coffee and cookies served all day. In front of the reception every afternoon there are two jars with all you can drink servings: one is water with different herbs etc and the other is sangria. Breakfast is included in the price, there's a different selection everyday, you can choose one of everything offered if you want and the best part is that it's brought to your room at the exact time you have selected. We had the junior suite that was very big, with a seating area, a dining table and a big bed. The room and bathroom were very clean and there were slippers and bathrobes offered. The hotel design and finishings are of very high quality and great taste. From the outside you really can't tell that this place would be so pretty. There's even a gym, that despite the fact that it's at the basement, is very well lit and with all the necessary equipment The inn's location is great and there's free parking offered on the premises. We walked everywhere, to the restaurants, the harbor and to the start of the Cliff Walk, that is an absolute must once in Newport, RI. I was so sad to have to leave after two nights, I would have loved to stay more.…
My wife and I stayed at the Mill Street Inn on 4/9. The hotel was very clean and a great location, walking distance to most restaurants and shops. The included breakfast was delivered to our room at the time we requested. We were booked for two nights but had to leave early due to medical reasons. I was pleasantly surprised when Jaimie (General Manager) told me we were not being charged for the second night. Ratings: Service- 5 stars Room- 5 stars, we stayed in a suite, this is the best value in Newport. We have stayed in at least 10 other hotels in Newport over the years and none of them come close to the level of service we received. We will be back.
My wife and I stayed in a suite at the Mill Street Inn and couldn't have been more pleased. The inn was very clean and the service and attention from the staff was terrific. Its within walking distance of shops and restaurants and all the well kept historic homes. Parking is under the inn. Breakfast is more than adequate and delivered to the room. It was very quiet too. Which is nice if you're a light sleeper. Katrina was the best. We'll go back again when the weather is warmer. We are at the Moorings which was very good and a 10 minute walk away.
We loved our stay at the Mill Street Inn! The property is well situated in the middle of town, short walking distance to most restaurants and attractions, but still far enough away to be quiet and relaxing. Room was perfect (we had room 107). The front desk staff was super helpful with recommendations and answered any questions we had. They really go the extra mile here. Breakfast is included and delivered to your room when you want. It was perfect! Can’t say enough good things about this place!
Stayed here 3 night in March 2022. Love this hotel. Simple, modern lines. Clean and comfortable. We stayed in one of the townhouse suites which was great -- definitely recommend. The hotel was very quiet and the location is fantastic -- walking distance to most Newport sights, restaurants, etc. The hotel is in the middle of a historic neighborhood and just walking the neighboring streets is a treat! It wasn't warm enough to enjoy the outdoor deck off our bedroom, but it had great views and would be a fantastic place to hang out in warmer weather. Breakfast is brought to your room each morning. It arrived exactly on time each day. The breakfast food was simple, but much better quality than I had expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. HVAC -- which in my opinion can make-or-break a hotel stay -- was quiet and efficient. Easy to control the temperature. One minor quibble: while there was a Nespresso machine in the lobby, there was no way to easily get hot water for tea. We requested a kettle for the room, but that wasn't an option. The staff would bring a carafe of hot water on demand, but (as is often the case) it really was only lukewarm.…
We just returned from an extended weekend at the Mill Street Inn. The staff was so warm and welcoming and happy to answer questions and provide recommendations. The vibe is really laid back and rooms were comfortable and well decorated. Bed was so comfortable and the rain shower really outstanding. We loved the freshly delivered continental breakfast each morning. Best of all the hotel is quiet, it was hard to even tell other guests were around. Walking distance - though a cold walk this past weekend - to the downtown area and all restaurants and shops. Do not stay anywhere else when visiting Newport! You will love the Mill Street Inn.
First venture out since Covid...at least for an overnight out of state....Love Mill Street Inn. Clean, comfortable and inviting. Staff are so welcoming and truly want you to enjoy Newport. We have always stayed at the Townhouse Suites and just adore the sitting room downstair in this by-level accommodation. (other suites do not have this feature but they do look great). The Townhouse bedroom has a king bed, fireplace, large bathroom, robes, slippers, high end toiletries.....and your own private cosy deck to view water in the distance. Do I need to say anything else? They will take good care of you, with a smile and you will return...again....as we do...
We stayed at the Mill Street Inn for a New Years escape. From beginning to end, this was a gem of a place to stay. Parking was plentiful with a lot and a garage on the premises. The lobby was warm, charming, and cozy and attention to detail was exceptional. Jamie, the manager, made us feel at home greeting us with a gift bag of gourmet local treats, recommendations for local attractions and a breakfast menu for us to hang on the door for the following morning. Breakfast is included each morning and offers delicious pastries from a local bakery, yogurt parfaits, fresh fruit, coffee and tea. For the price we paid, the inclusion of breakfast each morning, the welcome bag, and beautiful drinks in the lobby on New Years Eve was far beyond expectations. Every touch at Mill Street Inn is carefully considered and personalized. Everything you could wish for and more you will find in the rooms, from robes to high end toiletries. The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, immaculate, and generously sized, with such character. We are used to staying at large hotel chains, but this was a perfect departure from cookie cutter. The location central to shopping, the harbor, and the best restaurants in Newport are all within 5 minutes walking distance. We will return!…
