What a special place! Great room, spotless bathroom, perfect breakfast, and Pam who served us was lovely. The inn is being carefully and lovingly restored. And it’s in the Elmwood neighborhood which is also special.
As a luxury travel agent for over 30 years with extensive worldwide travel staying at unusual and charming boutique hotels for work and leisure, InnBuffalo is a property that will be engraved in my mind for excellence in all categories. Upon arrival I was welcomed by Ellen, owner and her loving dog, Nina! Immediately my husband and I knew that we as well as all guests were considered friends! Walking inside brought me back to the 1900’s and felt like I should have been more elegantly dressed ready to have “high tea “ in the parlor. What impeccable decor and furnishings to embellish as my husband and I looked around! Our suite was immaculate and quite large having nothing lacking. Bathroom and fixtures were reminiscent of the past with modern touches. I knew immediately that we would be back! The Homedic Sound Machine in our suite was an added surprise along with extremely comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was just perfect! Scones made by the Inn were better than what I have had at the Dorchester in London. Ellen’s homemade granola should be packaged and sold as it was so delicious! The breakfast attendant, Paul , treated my husband and I as celebrities and his knowledge and expertise of the history and architecture of Buffalo was amazing! The owners leave no stone unturned and if you are visiting the Buffalo/Niagara area this property should be your only choice. The uncompromising attention to detail and exquisite service is something Ellen and Joe provide for everyone! …
Absolutely the best place to stay in Buffalo. Plenty of room with 4 separate areas on the first floor for reading or having a coffee or just relax. Nice outside porch. Joe and Ellen are great hosts....Joe loves to give his guests the tour with history of the old house along with the preservation/renovations going on. You'll love your stay at Inn Buffalo.
What a beautiful house in a gorgeous historic neighbourhood. The hosts are very welcoming and informative. Close to downtown, Delaware park and many other attractions. We would definitely come back to visit again.
My stay at InnBuffalo was one of the highlights of my trip to Buffalo for the weekend. It's the ideal destination for lovers of old houses. It's been restored to have as many original features as possible and with the addition of period-appropriate antique furniture, it feels like you're going back in time. Despite the transtemporal feel, each room is beautiful appointed with every comfort afforded to any modern boutique inn. Any refreshment you are offered is guaranteed to be fresh, high quality and delicious. Nothing about the place compares to the hospitality offered by Joe and his friendly lab Nina. They are the ideal hosts and are a big reason I plan on returning to Buffalo with my husband in tow to stay in this lovely inn.
My wife and I came to Buffalo to tour some Frank Lloyd Wright buildings and visit Niagara Falls. We stayed at InnBuffalo while we were in town, it was a great choice. Joe and Ellen have done an amazing job transforming the Hewitt Mansion into a B&B while maintaining the historic charm of it. When we come back to Buffalo while will definitely stay here again!!!!
This is our place to stay when we visit Buffalo. We found it on a visit a few years ago and returned for several nights in September. It remains a relaxing, quiet, clean and comfortable place to stay. The rooms are decorated in a modern aesthetic without the floral wallpaper and knickknacks you sometimes find in B&Bs housed in homes of this era. We appreciate that. The bathrooms are modern and well-designed. Joe and Ellen are wonderful hosts. When we stayed there, breakfast was a very satisfying and tasty self-serve arrangement of yogurt, homemade granola, fresh fruit, homemade scones, hard boiled eggs, and other items. The Inn is well-located -- close to downtown and within walking distance of the shops and restaurants on Elmwood Avenue. On-site parking is available but we chose to park on the street and never had a problem finding a space close to the Inn. Joe and Ellen consider the Inn to be a restoration in progress but the things that impact guest comfort have been well attended to. It is very nice to spend time again in this magnificent home.…
InnBuffalo is a sheer delight. It's so comfortable, elegant but not stuffy, historic and in a delightful neighborhood. The proprietors are so welcoming. I concur with the other reviews - it's terrific!
Location, atmosphere, friendliness and authenticity are combined in one beautiful spot. The owners are restoring this historic mansion beautifully! The staff is most helpful and they give you great instructions. They let me have a late checkout, too. Thanks for a wonderful time!
My husband and I stayed at InnBuffalo for four nights this summer, and we loved everything about it. The hosts, Joe and Ellen, are very gracious and accommodating. They have done a wonderful job restoring this mansion, and their love for it shows. The mansion is lovely- beautiful woodwork and well decorated public rooms. We enjoyed reading in the library and on the large front porch. Breakfast was delicious, and also enjoyed on that front porch. Coffee, tea, water, and snacks were available throughout the day. Our room was spacious and comfortable, and, like the public rooms, beautiful. We slept very well! InnBuffalo in located on a quiet street, a block off of Elmwood, within easy walking of the shops and restaurants in Buffalo's Elmwood Village, and a short drive to downtown Buffalo and Canalside. We would highly recommend InnBuffalo for your stay in the city, and hope to return there ourselves!…
