InnBuffalo off Elmwood earns high marks for its exceptional service, creating a home-like atmosphere that includes delectable breakfasts and individualized attention. Guests have repeatedly complimented the hotel's immaculate cleanliness and comfortable amenities, such as beds with soft linens. While the rooms exude cozy historical charm, a few guests mention the need for better soundproofing.
The hotel's location is a hit for its proximity to local dining and outdoor activities in Elmwood Village. Although the atmosphere is praised for its elegant comfort, opinions on value are divided, with some criticism directed at additional costs.

Detailed Reviews
This beautiful old house is wonderfully authentic in the multiple living spaces on the first floor and hallways/stairways. Our room was true to the period yet tastefully updated (penthouse king suite Nouveau Art East) with a lovely tiled bathroom and cedar lined armoire. The bed was super comfortable and spotless with a white-on-white color scheme throughout the suite. I hope new owners continue to maintain and share this jewel with future guests.

Stayed for one night, midweek, in January 2020. I was greeted warmly and got a quick orientation to the beautiful, historic house. The bed and bedding were super comfortable. Bathroom was fully updated and the heated floors in the bathroom were appreciated on a chilly evening/morning. The room had everything I needed and more. Breakfast was plentiful and yummy and coffee was fantastic.

Joe and Ellen have done a magnificent job To bring this beautiful & stately house back to life! My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in the Sarah Dutro suite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Our room was comfortable, quiet and decorated consistent with a bygone era. Our innkeeper Joe was gracious, informative and very engaging. He made us feel welcome and totally at home. The location is just a stone’s throw from the Elmwood Village and perfect for walking to many of the restaurants the area has to offer. We’re sorry to see it’s being sold and can only hope that the all the work Joe & Ellen have put into this treasure in maintained for future guests.

I spent last night at Inn Buffalo, a historic mansion in the heart of this vibrant city. I am a frequent traveler and a sucker for charming properties with historic significance. This property has it all, Charm, history, architectural and design value. It is adorned with Tiffany stained glass windows, Dutch masters school porcelain painted ceramics, original fireplaces, beautiful period furniture, large rooms, comfortable beds etc. I felt like the lord of the manor at all times. What was so special about the place however was the attention to detail and service that the owners put in. Honestly my stay far exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend a stay here instead of at any of the large properties. This residence has so much soul it is almost like walking and living into time travel. One thing is certain I will certainly come back and no visit to Niagara Falls should happen without a stay at Inn Buffalo!!

Do you want a quiet location, near restaurants and shops, with lovely and spotless accommodations? Of course you do. Do you also want a location that references a rich and detailed history with modern comfort? Yes. How about hosts who offer true warmth and hospitality, have a passion for the beautiful home they are restoring and provide a delicious breakfast? I should think so. This is a unique and beautiful nineteenth century mansion that may soon cease to be a bed and breakfast. Anyone traveling to Buffalo should try to stay in this historic home that includes two presidents as guests (Grover Cleveland, a former mayor of Buffalo, and Millard Filmore). Because of Covid no breakfast was served. However, we brought our own cereal, milk and other food and the hosts provided us with a dining table and dishes and silverware. The house is also is easly walking distance of Elmwood Street that has a number of restaurants and a coop supermarket. The neighborhood includes some of the most beautiful residential streets of any city I have visited. My wife and I loved our evening walks there.

My travel to Buffalo for a funeral was made much more pleasant by the hospitality experienced at InnBuffalo. The flexibility in arrival times and room selection, made the visit much less stressful. The house continues to become a landmark and I intend to return again. Top notch bedding and bathrooms.

+1
I came across InnBuffalo on a map search of Elmwood Village, an area that I had passed through and wanted to explore further. Boy, am I glad I did.
The owners of InnBuffalo are personable, caring and are genuinely interested in creating a unique, luxurious experience for their guests. They have clearly put in time, effort and loving care into restoring a unique property that brings to life the soul of the golden era of Buffalo and the characters that drove innovation and culture. To have the opportunity to experience this while enjoying luxuries and modern-day amenities should not be passed up. Top notch beds, modern, luxurious bathrooms with heated floors (!) and all the other features you'd expect in a luxury room are there for your enjoyment.
The street its on is quiet, a stone's throw from restaurants, boutiques and unique stores with ample street parking.
Next time you consider staying at a cookie-cutter hotel in the area, do your self a favour and check-out InnBuffalo instead.

My wife and I traveled from Miami to Buffalo with our boys for the Dolphins/Bills playoff game. Our uncle, a 50+ year Buffalo native, booked us three rooms at the InnBuffalo, a charming and elegantly renovated property in the heart of the city. What a gem! Each room, named after an historic figure with ties to Buffalo, is large and clean with careful attention paid to every last detail. The Inn is in fabulous condition and exudes a warmth that makes you feel like you are part of the family, which makes sense because Joe, the owner/innkeeper, is ever present and gracious and prepared to cater to your every need. Although the Dolphins lost in a nail biter, we will be back again the next time we play the Bills. And we will be sure to stay at the InnBuffalo!

We have stayed at the InnBuffalo many times, and this last time (over the Christmas holiday) was as magical as ever! The rooms, the gourmet homemade breakfasts, the history of the house itself, and the incredible attention to every detail make for an experience that is truly special. The atmosphere is both relaxed and sophisticated, comfortable and indulgent. The location is perfect for exploring all that Buffalo has to offer. Ellen and Joe give you the attention you need and the independence you crave to come and go, rest and recharge, relax and play.

The place, in my opinion is an oasis. I’d guess a 140+ year old structure. I’ve stayed in three rooms, all simply amazing and different. One had a half wall and glass above for a very nice blend of walk in shower meets old architecture.
The second room apparently had a half bath (very cool) and converted a huge walk in closet to a 8’x8’ (guessing the size) double shower.
I’ve not yet had the room with the first in the world 2000 jet shower, I’ll try to attach a picture if it allows me.
An older couple I had breakfast with, his wife described it as “quite exhilarating”
I wouldn’t stay anywhere else and have already planned my 3rd trip for March.
sorry for late response. No private balcony that I know of. but there is a porch.
Our check in was easy....times weren't a problem.
Breakfast is DEFINITELY included and it was fabulous.
Enjoy!
I know that at least one of the bedrooms had two beds in it. All the bedrooms are large and the bathrooms are very nice. Great spot..be sure to walk the lovely neighborhood and check out Forest Lawn cemetery.
Sorry, unfortunately we do not allow pets. Thanks for your inquiry. Best, Ellen
