What a beautiful hotel. Location was perfect for our vacation. We were visiting both ends of the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Once in Medora no need to drive around town - very walkable. We parked in a public parking lot a block away as parking on the street is limited. Many shop owners mentioned that summer is best time to visit. Our room was lovely exactly as pictured on their website - including the "Teddy Bear". While not visiting the parks; we enjoyed the lovely shops. We were up early and found a cute little coffee shop nearby - Mercantile with incredible scones, muffins, etc. Opens at 7:00am

We spent two very relaxing nights here while visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Staff was personable and helpful from beginning to end. Enjoyed drinks in bar, a lovely dinner in the dining room -- my husband said the filet was very good, my vegetarian choices as well, portions quite large. Our breakfast in front of the fireplace was serene, peaceful, delicious and again, quite plentiful. Our room was extremely nice, great bathroom, plenty of room, partial view of cliffs in the park. Will definitely stay here again!

In a town that caters to all things Western, cowboy and Teddy Roosevelt, the Rough Riders Hotel was an exceptional find. Located in the heart of town, the Rough Rider is within walking distance of all the shops, restaurants and pubs, and only about 1/4 mile from the entrance to the South Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park. The lobby is well done with wood paneling, and gun displays, and the library has a wealth of books on Teddy Roosevelt - a nice place for an after dinner drink. We had a king room on the second floor that was spacious, comfortable, well-appointed, and quiet. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends.

My husband and I spent two nights at this very nice hotel, while visiting Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We love the location, the easy and free parking, the room, the helpful front desk, the really neat historic decor. What we didn’t like was the fact that we could not change the temperature from 64°, and we about froze the first day. The second day it was almost too hot. The front desk twice told us that none of the air conditioning and heating units in the rooms could be changed by the occupants. That needs to be changed!

If you want to stay in a hotel in downtown Medora, then this is the spot. It is walking distance from all local restaurants and shops. It is also a short drive to the entrance to Theodore National Park entrance. If you love to read and enjoy history, grab a glass of wine and sit in the library area and read one of the numerous books in the Theodore Roosevelt library.
