Hilton Scranton & Conference Center is often praised for its amenities, with guests enjoying the comfortable bedding, substantial breakfast offerings, and the gym, though some suggest the hot tub could be improved. While the front desk staff receive accolades, the breakfast service and restaurant's cleanliness have faced criticism. The hotel's atmosphere is perceived as either too corporate or comfortably clean, but some areas appear to need a refresh. The cleanliness of the rooms is generally acknowledged, despite occasional noise and datedness. Opinions on value are divided, with parking fees deemed reasonable but unexpected charges causing some discontent.

This Hilton hotel and the nearby Radisson are both located downtown. Hilton has newer rooms inside. Lobby of Radisson needs a refresh. Advantage to Hilton is the gym and pool. Also the staff were terrific! We forgot something in the safe and Lewis at the front desk found and returned it. Magical!

First time I have ever stayed at the Hilton. Their staff are amazing. Front desk staff Christine, Rachel and Luke were always smiling and always offering to help. I even passed a housekeeper one day who greeted me with a smile and told me if there was anything I needed to just let someone know. WOW! What kept me from giving a 5-star review were that none of rooms have microwaves. Options are to keep making trips to the lobby (like I did to re-heat coffee or make popcorn) to use the one there or to pay $10/day to rent one. Their breakfast in the dining room is superior but also costs $14. No discount for government employees.

buckstravelers, Thank you for staying with us and letting us know about your experience. we truly appreciate you comments about our team, they are always to help our guests anyway they can. Actually, we do offer the standard per Diem rate for our government family. The only time the rates are not available are if they are traveling for leisure or we don't have them available, which is rare.

Had a very enjoyable stay at the Hilton Scranton. Our room was spacious and clean, 2 double beds, easy chair, desk area, lamps and bureau with tv. The bathroom was also large with shower in tub. Housekeeping now is by request or every so many days, but each time we passed housekeeping staff in the hall, they asked if we wanted clean towels or to empty the trash. That was very curteous. The pool and hot tub was great and in working order. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, but for limited morning hours only and the hotel restaurant. Parking is in the garage right after the hotel. Front desk will stamp your ticket for unlimited in and out privledges during your stay. It is $12/day. The big circular covered drive way in front allows for easy unloading and reloading your car. The front desk staff could use some help. There was a plexiglass devider up, but no one wore masks. When we checked in, the computers were not working and when we checked out the lady was talking on the phone with no acknowledgement we were standing there with other people. The location of the hotel is fine, and driving is not a problem if you were sightseeing or visiting the many restautants in the city. Prices were reasonable. It is wheelchair accessible.

The first night I had a dinner at the hotel. The hotel did not care for any food reservations I may have. They did not provide halal/kocher food. Additionally vegetarian options were limited to a single vegetarian burger which TBH tasted terrible.
The waitress serving us the first night was rude and rolled her eyes at one of people I was having dinner with.
Food overall was terrible.
The next night I needed ice and the ice machine was broken. I called room service asking them for ice and they absolutely refused to entertain my request and were rather rude to me on the phone telling me to 'get it myself' and that they had 'too many orders to bother with me'. Disgusting attitude TBH.
One would assume that if you're paying so heavily for a 5 star hotel you receive decent service or at the very least the staff talks in a polite manner.
All in all I recommend picking a place where they treat you with hospitality.

Dear Aneeza I, Thank you for sharing your review. We're disappointed to hear this was not the stellar stay we had intended to deliver. Your experience with our staff was not in line with the vision or expectations that we set for ourselves regarding hospitality and guest interaction. We have shared your experience with our team as a learning opportunity to take our guest experience to the next level. I returned to my hometown of Scranton, PA to see family and friends. I always book a hotel room as I like to chill and not take up someone's spare room or sofa.

On this trip, I booked the Hilton as it's convenient and located in the downtown area — it's very walkable.

On this occasion, I had a bad room with scuffed-up walls and a safe that was broken so I had to walk around with my valuables, passport and cash. When I went to take a shower, the last guest's wash cloth fell from the shower curtain! I complained to the front desk about this and they immediately moved me to a better room that was cleaned properly and the safe was in working condition. Thank you to the front desk staff, Paul and Christine for helping me and addressing my complaints.

I don’t live in Pennsylvania so this was an out there trip for me. About five hours one way. I brought a pillow with me that I’ve had since I was born and realized after I got home that I had left it at the hotel. I called several times throughout the day/night, probably annoying them to no end and everyone was super sweet and sympathetic about the situation even though to a person looking in it doesn’t seem like a huge deal. They helped me to track down my pillow and assured me they’d help get it back to me and they shipped it right to my house, being extremely nice and sweet the whole time I was bothering them. They made me feel a lot better about the situation and I’m sure many other hotels would have just thrown it away when they cleaned the room. I am extremely grateful to the head of housekeeping and anyone else who helped me. And not to mention the service while we were there was great too! The man at the front desk showed me all of the best places to go in Scranton. It was a great trip and even in annoying situations I can see that they are kind the whole way!

This hotel is located walkable to many good coffee places and restaurants. Location is top notch. The hotel has terrible free internet so that you upgrade and get the one you have to pay for. They also charge $12 to park in the parking garage that is next door to the hotel, not under. So you have to drop your stuff off, double park, check in, then come back out to move your car. OR you can park and drag your stuff next door to the hotel. Seems very inconvienent for the price. Overall I thought this hotel seemed very old and not updated. The pool area has a salt water hot tub which is awesome but the pool area decor is very dim and depressing.

evange76, Thank you for you comments on you most recent stay. Interesting to hear about your internet issues, we do apologize for that. We are in the process of increasing our bandwidth which should help, please let us know the next time you are in town if it has improved. Unfortunately, parking is owned by the city and were there are 2 garages are within a few hundred of the hotel we do understand it may be a bit inconvenient my team is more than happy to assist with any luggage to and from the garages. Hope to see you again soon and thanks again for sharing your thoughts, we do appreciate it.

All the staff was very friendly, we were able to check in a little early with no problem. The pool and hot tub were really nice and both are a lot bigger than most. This is one of the few locations that actually has their pool and hot tub open, only with slightly reduced hours, from 10 am to 10 pm, which is still really good. Everything was very clean. The parking is either across the street or down the street slightly and is $12 with in out privileges for hotel guests. They did not have room service at this time which is the only disappointment since we usually like to have breakfast delivered to our room, but there are several restaurants within walking distance and they provide a grab and go breakfast for a fee, but we did try that. The staff did go above and beyond and made us feel welcome and we will be back.

My husband and I were in Scranton over the summer when we booked our stay for Parents Weekend for the U of Scranton which was the end of September. When we booked, the front desk clerk was fantastic- personable and displayed great customer service. He assured us that we would be able to cancel one of the nights if we decided we needed too.

When we tried to cancel one of our nights we were told that it wasn’t possible because there was now (not at the time we made our reservation) a 3 night minimum stay. We were also told they were sold out. Lastly- we were told that we could cancel and rebook for the new rate of $399 a night and could just stay the one night.

We spoke to Luke the manager who repeated the rules above. His response when we told him there was no minimum number of nights required to stay when we booked and that his staff told us we could cancel a night was, “ the employee that made your reservation no longer works here.” I asked about honoring what was told to us and he said he would not.

After a long day of traveling, we dragged our weary selves and our large dog into this hotel late at night without a reservation. Christina, Christine, and Joe (all-star hotel staff!) welcomed us with open arms and immediately made us feel completely safe and taken care of. Christina gave me advice about where to walk our dog in the area, Joe went out of his way to provide an additional amenity he heard me lament I had forgotten, and my dog was spoiled with treats and kind words. The room is modern, clean, and fresh and the hotel offers plenty of coffee, food, and fitness options. I would give more stars if I could!
