I don’t live in Pennsylvania so this was an out there trip for me. About five hours one way. I brought a pillow with me that I’ve had since I was born and realized after I got home that I had left it at the hotel. I called several times throughout the day/night, probably annoying them to no end and everyone was super sweet and sympathetic about the situation even though to a person looking in it doesn’t seem like a huge deal. They helped me to track down my pillow and assured me they’d help get it back to me and they shipped it right to my house, being extremely nice and sweet the whole time I was bothering them. They made me feel a lot better about the situation and I’m sure many other hotels would have just thrown it away when they cleaned the room. I am extremely grateful to the head of housekeeping and anyone else who helped me. And not to mention the service while we were there was great too! The man at the front desk showed me all of the best places to go in Scranton. It was a great trip and even in annoying situations I can see that they are kind the whole way!…
I give this hotel 5 stars as someone who stays in mid-level hotels regularly. For a mid-range Hilton in a smaller town - it deserves all 5 stars! LOBBY/STAFF: the lobby/front desk/restaurant/coffee area is super clean and nice - but more importantly, the staff were extremely helpful and caring. The shuttle service is good, and when I had to change plans and go to the airport last minute (but the shuttle driver had already left) - they recognized that I was in a hurry and got me a cab. FOOD: The breakfast is really really good. Custom, made to order omelettes are a must-try. I did not try the restaurant or bar but they do exist in the lobby and it looks like a pretty nice spot to hang out! AMENITIES: The pool looks okay (did not go in), and the gym was great! Has everything you need and even a few extras (for a hotel gym): dumbbells, cardio machines, bench, cable machine, stability ball... and if I remember correctly even medicine balls as well. It's also pretty spacious in there. Lots of mats and room to move around. ROOMS: Rooms were clean, and fairly up to date. What you'd expect from a run-of-the-mill Hilton. No complaints!…
Checked into hotel and room reservation was given to other, forced to take a smaller lower grade room. After going to room found out there was a corn hole tournament on second floor with large crowds of people with no mask wondering around halls and open hotel area. Hotel management stated that they could not deal with the mask rules and the group was too large to police. Regardless of how well they clean the room, the exposure opportunity in the hotel was extremely high. Would recommend staying somewhere else, where they care about the health in the whole hotel, not just your room.
Stayed here previously, good one night visit but in morning wanted to get two coffee at Starbucks in lobby before long ride home.No one behind the counter but a woman’s pocketbook or bag was sitting out in view behind counter. Waited 5 minutes, no one shows. Go to front Hilton desk, asked employee if Starbucks person would be there. Told she probably went to back. 5 minutes later still no clerk. Asked Hilton person again, says nothing but heads back to rear area, I’m thinking she’s going to get her. 5 minutes later, no clerk, ask same Hilton employee again where is Starbucks person? Her reply was now “I don’t know”. we leave after telling her this is ridiculous. Now, I realize this was not a huge deal but if area is open make sure someone is there and Hilton should ensure that normal service is provided. And tell missing clerk not to leave her stuff sitting out.…
With COVID on the prowl, we opted to travel close and go on vacation in PA. So we decided to go to Scranton and use the Hilton as our home base. When entering the lobby, it was nice and clean and had a sanitizing station. Check in was quick and easy and Paul was very friendly. We went up to our room - via the elevator which seemed dirty and sticky. Also out of 2 elevators, only one was functioning throughout our stay. The hall was nice and clean and all cleaned rooms are sealed with a sticker. When we entered our room, it seemed nice, renovated and fresh looking. When I entered the bathroom and wanted to shower I discovered hairs from the previous occupant still stuck to the wall. I didn't feel very assured of the cleaning job housekeeping did sanitizing the room, considering they didn't even clean the bathtub. The water stream in the shower was pretty weak (despite using the standard speakman shower head) and drainage was poor. In addition we discover the safe was locked open. I went down to complain and spoke to Paul again who was very apologetic and even offered to move us to another room. I decided since it was just a clean up - to have the room serviced again. A couple of hours later when we came back to the room we found nothing was done. I spoke to Paul again, who assured me again it would be addressed immediately. Unfortunately 2 hours later it was still unresolved. We decided to go to sleep and address it the next day. Around an hour later we started smelling the funky smell of pot coming from a room next to us. That was disgusting. The next day I spoke to Tyler. He was very apologetic and suggested we move to another floor. He went the extra mile and gave me a few options and came with me to make sure the new room was OK. Once we moved, the rest of the stay was pretty good, except for another issue with housekeeping. At these times, both the pool and gym were open with some limitations. Breakfast is not served at the restaurant, but a few pre packaged items are provided free of charge to all guests, which is a nice gesture. So to sum it up: 1. The hotel is nicely furnished and the rooms, halls and lobby are nice. Elevator needs urgent attention. 2. Housekeeping is sub-standard and failed multiple times during our stay. 3. Front office is outstanding and very eager to get things right. 4. Despite covid he amenities are available and both the gym and pool are nice. 5. The parking is not directly connected to the hotel, which isn’t very convenient. Bottom line - if I’m again in Scranton I would be happy to stay here again with hopefully a better housekeeping performance. …
