Property is under a VERY large renovation. Updates are very nice and room was clean and new. HOWEVER. There are construction materials and dust everywhere, common areas, hallways etc. The breakfast area is closed and breakfast served in a small meeting room with plastic sheeting covering the floor. Outside patio, which looks nice...closed. Front desk staff are lifeless, no greeting or even a smile. Construction crews which are MANY a happy and polite! The worst...the noise at night is UNBELIEVABLE. Literal earthquake shaking of the room. when questioned front desk said "It is probably Sam's club (directly behind hotel) Unloading." We think it may have been more highway construction...it was earth shaking...until midnight resuming at 5 am. WAY louder than anything Sam's club could muster. Wifi was impossible and non existent. TV most channels ..no signal. On returning home, I received an email thanking me or my stay...AND billing me a $10 parking fee....are they KIDDING!! oddly enough I asked on check in i they needed car info, they said "Nope". The rate of this hotel was not cheap...I suggest calling ahead or at least giving them time to get things under control. AND...if you suffer any PTSD from loud noises, skip it all together! There are MANY other options right in the area.

Stayed as I drove from NC to the St Lawrence. The property is in final throws of reno but room was great. Should be exceptional when complete. Staff was freindly and receptive as I had my dog with me and dog fee was just $25, very good!

Hotel is going under renovations and is a mess. We check in. Was told I was to pay $10 a night for parking which there wasnt much bc of the workers parking and lots around the back was roped off. I was not told of this fee till I checked in. Hotel smelled like paint and wallpaper. Kitchen wasnt stocked with much of any supplies to make meals. No cookie sheets. No big knives to cut stuff. Beds were hard as a rock. Breakfast was awful. Served in a converted room till renovations are done. Breakfast was cold. I wont be back. So disappointed in this property.

If you are looking for a way to earn Bonvoy points while inhaling the smell of urine or sitting on filthy couches, look no further than the Residence Inn, Scranton. The hotel is a disgusting example of what happens when no one from “corporate” apparently checks up on its franchises or workers across the country. The assistant manager, who refused to stand up during an absurd check-in process — it seems she was too busy Facebooking or Instagramming — was poorly trained. She couldn’t see that a credit card is permanently attached to a Titanium’s record and demanded a “swipe,” making one wonder if a skimming operation was under way. This rep was like the property itself — only marginally present and in serious need of updating. She was poorly trained in Marriott policies and procedures, had serious issues checking in, and then made excuses when it was determined that the room was dirty, smelled of urine and fecal matter, and that construction dust in and around the room made it uninhabitable. We ultimately departed for another Marriott property — the Courtyard in Moosic — which I highly recommend. To this date, the General Manager of the property — Patricia Bourgeios — has not responded to a message or an email. Perhaps she will if the Pennsylvania Department of Licensing and Inspection gets involved. But for now, stay away from this property. It is gross. It smells. It is unsafe. The staff, and the hotel itself, should have no contact with humans.

Thank you for providing comments about your stay. Our hotel is currently undergoing it's much needed renovations from a reputable construction company who handles getting the licenses and permits required. We do require a credit card and I.D. during the check in process for the safety of our guests. We do hope you come and stay with us again once renovations are complete so you can see the finished product.

Went to Fairfield Inn but they were sold out and referred us to the Residence Inn next door. Both are Marriott-owned. The room was A+ and price was good. Access to upper floors is limited to 1 small elevator and I presume stairwells at the ends of the building. Hallways are narrow and dimly lit. Continental breakfast has a decent variety of food but the layout is erratic. Waffle maker and syrups are at opposite ends and use of saran wrap to cover some foods is a little outdated. What ticked me off is the morning of our departure when I learned for the first time (bill under door) was they charge $10 daily for parking. I feel this is very deceptive and I am not pleased about it. What's next, charging for checking out?
