Detailed Reviews
We have been nervous about any type of travel during the pandemic, but the hotel policies were very good which made us feel relaxed. Everything is very clean, plus they do everything they can to avoid interactions. Cleaning was done only as requested, otherwise you could go to the front desk of you needed something.
Our room was only accessible from the outside, so there was no concerns about running into other guests. The kitchen was also helpful because it allowed us to have breakfast in the room without going out to a restaurant.
The room itself was large, really like a small apartment, the bed was comfortable and there was a smart tv which allowed us to watch some Netflix while the weather was bad.
All in all it was a nice stay, would definitely come back.

My partner and I chose Hotel Laurance to celebrate our anniversary over Memorial Day weekend. As residents of Virginia, we were looking for a nearby getaway and were captivated by the charm of Luray. Hotel Laurance, a lovely boutique hotel, is ideally located on the main street, within easy walking distance of delightful restaurants, quaint shops, a local brewery, and a movie theater. The hotel's convenient location allowed us to explore the best of what Luray has to offer without the need for long drives.
We stayed in Room Seven, which is situated on the first floor exterior facing Main Street, offering a nice level of privacy. Although some reviews mentioned noise issues, we found the street noise to be minimal and not bothersome, especially after hours. The room itself was delightful, featuring a very comfortable king-size bed. The bedroom was snug yet cozy, complemented by a charming sitting area with cable TV and excellent WiFi. The kitchen area was well-equipped with all the essentials, including a coffee maker, stove, microwave, and refrigerator. The bathroom, though lacking a tub, had a nice shower and provided high-quality toiletries.
Overall, it was a wonderful stay for our anniversary. The combination of the hotel's charm, comfort, and convenient location made it a perfect choice for our celebration. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Hotel Laurance and are already looking forward to our next visit to Luray.

Impeccably clean with friendly service and amply supplies with all facilities for a comfortable stay. The old building has been carefully modernised without losing its charm. We stayed in Oliver Room (room 1) which had a welcoming and freshly decorated bedroom with very comfortable bed and linen. There was also a sitting area and small kitchen, with coffee machine and plentiful supply of coffee pods. We met the staff on arrival who were friendly and welcoming - be aware that it is only staffed until mid-afternoon, but there is a number to call if any problems.

Let me first say that we stayed in the Andrew suite and this rating only pertains to that unit and the property in general. The unit has a bedroom, a small sitting area with a TV, sink, stove and refrigerator/freezer, bathroom and a loft. Generally, the unit is small. The bedroom has a queen bed and 2 night tables. There is no TV or other furniture. I will say I had one of the best nights sleep in a hotel in that bed. There is a small love seat and single chair and a TV in the sitting area. There was 1 TV tray in the room if you plan on using the kitchen. The loft is not like climbing up a bunk bed, it is more like climbing onto you first floor roof, about 10 feet or so. My adult daughter used the loft and I was worried about her using that ladder in the middle of the night. There is also a step down out of the bedroom which I also worried about my wife navigating in the dark. The bathroom had no place to sit the multitude of things you take on vacation with you. All in all, the unit is not functional. That does not mean that the other 11 aren't either but if you pick this one, beware of the issues we found if that would also cause you a problem. The property is located in a good spot for Shenandoah National Park and Luray Cavern

Thank you so much for taking the time to give us some feedback on your stay. We are so happy that you enjoyed a great night sleep in the Andrew. We are disappointed that you were concerned about the loft for your daughter. We try very hard to represent each room clearly on our website so that you can see ahead of time, exactly what your accommodations will be like. It is always best to plan ahead and think about these things before booking or asking for advice from the hotel itself. We will always be more than happy to assist you in the perfect room for you. They all have their own unique personality and there is one perfect for you and we hope that you will take us up on that. Thanks again and safe travels.

We stayed 2 nights in The Laura with our 2 kids. Easy contactless check in and check out. We enjoyed having a kitchen area and bedrooms so that we didn't have to go to bed when the kiddos did. The kitchen only has very basic amenities- not even a sharp knife to cut fruit up. Clean rooms. Good location, close to luray and about 30 minutes for us to get to the hike locations we wanted to do off skyline drive. It is close to the hospital so we heard sirens often through the night.
I wish the bedrooms had blackout curtains as there was a lot of light coming in from the street. The beds has a kind of odd mattress topper on that was almost too soft.
All in all great stay and probably one of the nicest options in luray.
Check out gathering grounds for breakfast and coffee, broad porch coffee for a great latte - short walk from the hotel, and moonshadows for brunch!

The hotel overall is charming. Unfortunately, our room (The Oliver) had a strong odor, similar to feces. The first night we poured water down the shower drain which seemed to help. Unfortunately when we returned from hiking on the second day the odor was strong again and nothing we did seemed to ease it. Additionally, the room is immediately adjacent to a very high traffic street (no warning in the hotel listing) and sleep was more than difficult. The manager allowed us to change rooms which, although very time consuming as we had all our clothing and hiking gear out of our bags, did get us to a quiet and clean smelling room. We checked out on Friday, September 22. The manager emailed us that day that she had given us a credit on our bill because of the problems. Today is October 2 and the credit has not appeared on our credit card. The manager continues to promise that the credit will eventually appear. I would not return to this property.

We stayed for a long holiday weekend to hike and explore local wineries. This was a perfect place to set up base camp. We originally wanted to stay somewhere closer to Sperryville, but it was a holiday weekend, so a lot of places were booked. But no regrets staying here! The room was great, love the easy access in and out, sort of had the Airbnb vibe but without having to pay the extra cleaning fees, etc. It was great having a kitchen and sitting area. Love the style of the hotel, great art and design. Parking was easy/accessible. We really didn't hear or see anybody else while we were there. The bed was not particularly comfortable, but that's pretty subjective. The town of Luray has a few cute spots to eat, but not a ton going on. However, it was centrally located to the hikes/wineries we wanted to visit, so would definitely stay here again.

We stayed two nights in the Shirling room which comprised sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. There are no other facilities provided. However local restaurants were fine (though not fine dining). We had dinner at Mimslyn Inn and Il Vesuvio. Food was tasty at both and the Karaoke at Il Vesuvio was fun. We had breakfast at the Quality Inn which was a typical US diner, great value and tasty. Whilst there we had a problem with our hire car. Manager Jackie and Jen at the Laurance Hotel could not have been more helpful. They found a garage willing to look at the car at short notice. The Marlow Ford Dealership in Luray was really helpful also. They didn't have replacement tyre and the lady who tracked down a replacement tyre at another garage on our route deserves a special mention.

We recently stayed at this very nice boutique hotel in Luray for a wedding weekend, and it was our first time visiting the area. We were pleasantly surprised by how charming and well-maintained the hotel was. Although the hotel advertises self check-in, we were greeted by the manager upon arrival, who assisted us to our rooms and shared local highlights. We stayed in two suites, the Miranda and the Laura, both of which were surprisingly spacious. Each suite featured a comfortable sitting area and a full kitchen. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, with particularly cozy beds, which is a feature we always look for. Additionally, there was a nice assortment of coffee and tea provided in the rooms. While the hotel does not offer food service, there were several excellent options for breakfast in town. Overall, it's a lovely place to stay if you're visiting Luray.

After the recent hurricane prevented us from reaching our Airbnb, we were fortunate to discover this delightful hotel nearby. The manager was incredibly accommodating, especially considering we made our reservation late at night. Even though she was already home, she promptly returned to help us, which we truly appreciated.
Our room was warm and inviting, featuring an exceptionally comfortable bed. We also loved the thoughtful touches, like the coffee, water, and snacks provided—perfect for late-night cravings when most places were closed. We’ll definitely be returning and can’t wait to share this gem with all our traveling friends!

Yes, Christine N is correct. Rooms 7, the Laura(upstairs), 8, the Shirling(upstairs), 9, the Meranda(downstairs) and 10, the Tucker(downstairs) are all accessible with exterior entrances.
There are Keurig coffee makers in each room with a variety of flavors.

no real views of the mountains. This hotel is in middle of the town but still worth it because of its upscale style (if its your liking).
(Sorry, 5 weeks late on the question, maybe it will be helpful for others)
