As the song goes, love is lovier the sevond time around. So is Once Upon A Mountain. We find ourselves returning to OUAM when we need a "country fix" as my husband calls it. It's so peaceful here, looking out over the Blue Ridge. Our downstairs room, which is really a suite, was lovely...comfy bed and beautifully appointed. We're sure... More

My wife and I stayed at this beautiful B&B on our way to a wedding in West Virginia. Our room, Sleeping Beauty, was very clean and cozy and had amazing views of the mountain. Christa was a great host with a ton of knowledge of the valley and makes a fantastic breakfast. Although our stay was brief, we'd highly recommend... More

This B&B is truly upon a mountain! The views were sensational! Our 3 nights there were so peaceful. Christa was just so full of information for us whether it was for sightseeing or dining. Everything was most enjoyable. The quiet surroundings were a joy! You could hear the sounds of nature all around you. We saw deer every day. Willie,... More

We were not disappointed by the beautiful view and lovely home. Christa and her sweet dog Willy were very gracious hosts. We were served a large gourmet breakfast each morning and enjoyable conversation. We plan to return for another visit in the fall.

I had a several day, solo get away to the mountains and found the perfect setting! I wanted to stay away from town, with beautiful mountain views, in a quiet setting (with just the sounds of nature) and feel a bit pampered. Well 'Once Upon a Mountain' gave me all of this and more! My suite, 'Princess on a Pea'... More

It was an awesome experience! Willy is the cutest dog we have ever seen and we just really liked it up there :) The view is wonderful and since we are Germans, we had a lot in common with Christa. It led to long conversations and eating amazing s'mores around the fire pit. We had an amazing time and to... More

June 2nd was my wife, Carol's, 50th birthday. I asked her what she wanted to mark this exciting milestone and she said she wanted to see the Shenandoah Valley and take a hot air balloon ride. I knew then that what would make or break this celebration was the B&B we would stay in. We searched online and looked at... More

Was as magical as the first. We stay in the Queen Suite (The largest and coolest of the rooms but I am told they are all very nice) which features a nice large whirlpool bath, large walk-in closet and door to our own private deck... The breakfast is created and served by Christa who has a talent for making you... More

The stars shine there like no where else! The hostess was so kind and sincere! The breakfast was great! The house was clean and classy. So many pros... only one con.. BUGS! I am a city girl.. and while it makes sense that bugs would be present at a cabin in the woods I was not prepared for it. Still... More
