This is a nice Mom and Pop motel right on US 211 four miles from the Thornton Gap entrance to Skyline Drive. The rooms are clean, cozy but a little dated. Staff is friendly. They're working hard to keep it nice with all the Covid rules. The beds were a little hard but that was the only draw back. This is a great spot to explore the Shenandoah Valley and Skyline Drive.
This a nice, clean, and friendly roadside motel. We enjoyed 2 nights here with it's great location for the Luray Caverns, restaurants, and Shenandoah Park. Check out the Brookside Cafe, right down the road.
Somewhat outside of Luray but not far - and close to Skyline. This is an older hotel but is well maintained. We slept great - the rooms are small but comfy. Bathroom was just fine. Chairs on the porch to enjoy the fall evenings and have a drink. Easy driving distance to multiple locations around Luray.
I stayed one night at the Hillside Motel in Sept. 2020 in Luray, VA. It was a great location for me. It is located on Lee Highway outside of town just a few miles from Shenandoah National Park. It is only 3.25 miles to the center of Luray. I was planning to arrive long after office hours, so I submitted that request when I booked through Expedia. I got a quick reply that they were able to accommodate my request. I chose the basic room with a queen bed, unit #6. It came with secure WiFi, a generously sized mini-frig with real freezer, microwave, coffee maker and TV. It was clean and comfortable. There was some traffic noise from the nearby highway. The staff where hospitable and welcoming. Did this review earn your “Thankful” vote?
My husband and I recently spent 4 nights at Hillside in the king room with sofa. All staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. We were happy to be able to support a small family business during our travels, especially in these times. Room was very clean upon entering. Mind you, this is not a sparkling new hotel, but an older motel that is a bit dated, but very well maintained, spacious, and clean. Dog friendly is also a plus, $25/night for our dog which is standard. Bed was very soft and didn't have side supports, so if you were close to the edge, it would sink way down. Bed was comfortable for sleeping though. Good wifi, but did take a minute to get the correct account up to login. Spacious bathroom with good water pressure. The house behind the hotel is about 20 feet from the bathroom window, so we kept the blind closed. We did not notice excessive noise at all. Folks have noted it is on a 4 lane highway, but it is not an interstate by any means. Fridge and micro appreciated and we made good use of them along with the dining table and chairs. Lots of TV channels. AC worked well. Have noted other reviews mentioning lack of plugs so we brought extension cords and triple adaptors. They were not needed at all. There were plugs everywhere, more than we could ever use. This location was perfect for our hiking plans in SNP. You are only a few minutes to the second park entrance which made our three days in the park easy to tour with the least amount of driving, one day north, one day south, and the most southern third on day 3. Pool was clean, but did need a vacuuming of the leaves/flowers. Grounds very well kept, hanging flower baskets, picnic areas, and grills, very spacious. SUGGESTIONS: Get sheets that fit the very deep mattresses. They came off every night as they are just not deep enough. Would be nice to have a deadbolt lock for proper security and a key that doesn't list the hotel address and room number on it...makes it very easy to rob if you lose your key. In-room safe would also be a good add on. The one night it was very windy and our screen door almost blew out twice, consider installing a door chain to protect door from damage. We think we chose the perfect place to stay in Luray and would absolutely stay again if our travels take us here. Thank you.…
