I didn't quite know what to expect when arriving at this location since I am a hotel snob when it comes to my accommodations, due to the mixed reviews on this site but we took a chance on Gateway Lodge. We considered it a cabin, so had "roughing it" camping expectations. We stayed in Cabin 7 which is right on...

The worst experience in California ever. I ordered "chicken fried steak" and was surprised that it was NOT chicken! It was a beef!!! I don't eat meat in religion purposes. We asked the staffs to solve this problem, but instead of that they cut off the price of this dish (which included soup or salad, and the choice of the...

We had a very mediocre dinner at the Gateway restaurant. The view was lovely but you pay for it! The food was expensive and tasteless or over- salted. The waiter was inappropriate in reminding us that the gratuity was not included. Would stop for a drink and enjoy the scenery from the bridge.

there were dog feces under our bed. We left immediately. The still charged us over 900 US Dollars for two nights. Very disappointing. We wanted to sleep in the Sequoia Park but all hotelrooms where fully booked.

We rented the two bedroom river house for three nights. It had been partially updated, but still had many issues. The saving grace was the deck and views of the river. If it had not been for that we probably would have only stayed one night. I would probably try to find a place that was in better shape if...

We did expect a cabin; however, it was expensive and not well-maintained. For the price, I expected better. We shared a two-bedroom, one bath, cabin with another couple. The owner had told us that he spent over $100,000.00 remodeling the lodge. I don't know where that money went. Certainly, it did not take place in our cabin. Although he said...

In areas like this, we expect rustic. We like rustic. What we don't like are room maintenance deficiencies, like caulking repair needs around the very old room air conditioner, along the baseboards, and in the bathroom. To be more comfortable, we brought in a plastic patio chair from the porch so that we both could sit on something other than...

The decor was nice, the river outside beautiful but it must've been cleaned by a guy or a teenager - someone who only cleans on the surface. The refrigerator door was sticky. There was crud under the vegetable crisper. The microwave looked like it was never cleaned and there were dead bugs around and stains on the bed covers. Not...

When weather allows, which usually is the case in California, you can dine on the back terrace ('patio') of the restaurant. The view of the river is really wonderfull with the colours of sunset behind the bridge. On the other side are the mountains of Sequioa NatPark! The restaurant is very near the entrance of the park, so a nice...
