Pros: -the breakfast in Luminaria is delicious, and well priced for a hotel restaurant, with great service. More people seem to work here than anywhere else in the hotel. - the pool is lovely as was the hot tub and the pool deck - the valet parking team was pleasant and helpful - lots of plugs by the bed for charging phones and iPads. -comfortable mattress - convenient to plaza and downtown. Very walkable. - they allow texting with the front desk. Note this is important given the second bullet below. - staff is courteous and pleasant
Cons: - The Vista Grande room pictured on the site (with a Matterport tour no less) looked nothing like the room we got. Ours was smaller with no sofa as the room pictured. The website says the rooms have private or shared balconies but we were told there are no private balconies in that room class. The balconies offer zero privacy. I will say when I complained about the missed expectations from my website booking, they gave us two free breakfasts for two with a voucher value of $60 which was more than ample given the restaurant’s reasonable prices. - all the extensions on the phone resolve to the front desk at any time of day or night. You want your car pulled around? You need housekeeping to bring more towels? Wait till the front desk picks up the ringing phone - after ten rings the call gets transferred to the “operator”, which actually is the front desk again. Someone finally answers. “Please hold while we assist others checking in.” They need more help! Guests push their own luggage carts up to their room because there was only one valet and no bellman. - the bathrooms are sub par. the WORST toilet and toilet paper ever. I am all for low flow toilets because we have those at home. But the flusher just wouldn’t work without pumping it six times. The toilet paper was so thin and rough I thought I was at a Motel 6. The sink has no counter area for toiletries and there are only two petite shelves (one above the toilet) to place your personal items. Towels were thin and small. -I felt okay about the rate for all nights even given the cons except our last one (a Thursday) where the rate skyrocketed more than $150. This was not a $600 per night room!

We like Santa Fe a lot, and have visited many times. We enjoy the Plaza area downtown, which is very historic, and has several good restaurants, as well as many shops. There is also Museum Hill not too far from downtown. We usually stay on the outskirts of downtown, but on this trip returning home from Phoenix, we decided to splurge and stay at the Inn at Loretto downtown, as a late birthday present for my wife. The cost is a bit pricey, but we were very pleased with the service, beginning with the valet who met us on arrival, the clerks who checked us in and out, and the maids. They all made us feel welcome, and were quite helpful. Again, being downtown, made it a great location near the Plaza area, for dinner after we attended Mass at St. Francis Cathedral.
We were only there one night, so we ate at a restaurant in the Plaza area (the Shed), and did not try the restaurant or bar at the Inn or Loretto, though both looked quite appealing. However, we did find a coffee shop in the hotel. They had a good variety of coffees and teas, as well as several pastries. We purchased a coffee, a tea, scone and an apple empanada for the road the next morning when we left. Everything was quite tasty, and I received very friendly service from the cafe owner.
The room was quite spacious, and had a great view of the mountains and a nice balcony. The king bed was firm, but not too firm (the way I like it). An added nice touch was when I told the clerk my wife's birthday was a couple of weeks prior. When we returned from dinner that nigh, there was a complimentary bottle of champagne in the room with a note wishing my wife a happy birthday. Again, the price was a little higher than we are used to paying, but the hotel and especially the staff made it worth the extra cost. I would recommend this hotel.

Having been an international airline pilot, I spent an average of 23 days a month staying in hotels worldwide. This has to be among the most unique, and certainly one of the most beautiful! The rooms have character, are comfortable, nice bed… the bathroom is elegant (really, how many hotel bathrooms can you say are elegant?) All the furnishings are well-coordinated, in good repair, and are absolutely clean. Carpet is spotless. Beautiful balcony, a great place for enjoying a summer night!
It’s an older hotel, but it’s very classy. Has character. It’s warm and comfortable. Beautiful interior and exterior.
Service is excellent.
There’s a dog water bowl in the lobby. Looking around the ground floor, I observed someone attending to it several times. Obviously a dog-friendly facility, but in the absence of any canines, you wouldn’t know it (except for the water bowl).
You can tell a lot about a hotel when you look at your room’s bathroom and windows. Whomever manages this hotel has a truly inspired housekeeping staff. If we keep our home thoroughly cleaned, why shouldn’t we expect that in a hotel? It is well-kept and attended.
The cuisine is excellent.
Every floor has a quite a few excellent photographs of Santa Fe. Both of us are photographers, and it was fascinating to look at the dozens displayed on each floor.
One other thing: guests actually sit in the lobby. There’s a nice fireplace located near the front desk and during this very cold January visit, people are sitting in the lobby next to the fireplace and enjoying each other’s company in this hospitable atmosphere. Not one of them had their phones out…
One thing impressed me in particular: the people working here are very nice — and are genuinely personable. The bellman and car valet both remembered not only our names, but that of our puppy, not overly familiar… just down-to-earth nice. We’re from Arizona and live in a tiny town: my partner was asked where we were from, and she told the valet “I’d bet $100 you’ve never heard of (our town).” Heard of it? The valet lived there, and his best friend resides there still: named some of our places of interest. This same individual approached our vehicle when we first arrived, and asked if we’d be using our vehicle much during our stay: he commented that Santa Fe only has 168 restaurants — some of the best Tex-Mex around — and said if we had any questions about them (or other places), feel free to ask. Not pushy, but very pleasant. Made me feel welcome. Yanno?
There aren’t many hotels I’d recommend, but this is truly one of them.
We’ll be back.

Carlos, who served us breakfast two days was spectacular and should be told so. The first morning I asked for tomato juice and there was none and it was clear he felt badly about it. The second morning he said he got tomato juice and brought it over and also remembered how my daughter and wife liked their coffees. That is way above and beyond, and Carlos should be commended for it.
The hotel itself needs some upgrades and improvements. If you are going to charge close to $800 per night, you just can't have air filters in the bathroom that are overflowing with lint, and carpeting that needs vacuuming, or is not cut flush with the end of the floor of the room, or having chips out of the fireplace area with white marks showing, or have the toilet handle get stuck so I have to jiggle it to get the water to stop running. Also, we had asked for our room to be cleaned each day and it did not get cleaned the first day. If we were staying in a Hilton for $300+ per night fine, but not when paying close to $800 per night, really not o.k.

We've stayed at Santa Fe hotels ranked higher than the Inn. I can't understand why. The staff was great, the room large and clean and the Living Room Bar was a treat. Every place in the hotel was clean and tidy.
The valets greeted us warmly and were helpful throughout our stay. The room (Grande Vista) was large, quiet and spotless. Maid service daily. Two slight problems: the thermostat is not particularly sensitive so the room was either hot or cold; and there is no shelf space in the bathroom. A stand alone cabinet of shelves either under the sink or next to the tub would be very helpful.
Crafted had great (and free) coffee and tea. The lady on the morning shift was always cheery and helpful.
The star of the entire show was Arturo, the bartender in The Living Room. We had a short conversation there first night and every night thereafter he greeted me by name and remembered what I drank. One evening we ordered an appetizer. The kitchen was out. Arturo had them create similar one for us. He was friendly, funny and a great to be around. The best bartender in Santa Fe.
If you don't stay at the Inn, at least drop in for a drink.

Out stay started off rocky at the checkin, with the room we were assigned vastly different from what we reserved and paid for. When we returned to the desk to resolve the issue, there were other guests complaining of a variety of issues with their rooms and no manager on site to resolve. We finally were taken to an acceptable room and the rest of the stay was truly lovely. Beds very comfortable, hotel buildings were historic and beautifully cared for and the restaurants were each distinctive and offered delicious options. The pool area has been completely recreated and is like something from a movie. Location is ideal, right off the plaza and within walking distance of almost anything you want to see or do. We definitely plan to return.

Amazing location, gorgeous hotel, incredible staff. We travel with our 4 month puppy and they made sure we had a great room with ground floor access for those frequent trips outside. The staff was so helpful and kind! We will be back! Highly recommend sitting by the fire in the bar for a Manhattan. Also check out Tribu boutique! Gorgeous clothes, insanely stylish jewelry and fun home goods!

The Inn has a beautiful lobby and lovely shops on the premises. The restaurant [Luminaria] is wonderful and the waiter service terrific. The Southwestern aesthetic comes through beautifully at this inn and location is terrific too. Close to shops and to Canyon Road with its excellent and abundant art galleries. We were, however, very disappointed with our room. March can be quite cold and the heat in our room and bathroom was far from adequate. The system has not been updated. The fan in our bathroom did not work and the cleanliness standard was unsatisfactory. Our mattress was lumpy and worn out. I was told by the front desk staff that management is focussed on investing in the main lobby; and not so much in keeping the rooms updated. We were a bit turned off by a $30 daily resort fee when the outside pool is currently under construction and the alternative pool at a nearby hotel was sub par; the fee was also supposed to cover room service which we did not want to avail ourselves of....We will not stay there again.

We travelled during a busy week, the week of the balloons festival in Albuquerque in the month of October 2021. It was the only luxury hotel that had rooms availability. We are grateful because of this. They were very difficult times. There was limited staff; however, they did they best. They clean our rooms every day and they did a very good job. My room was very comfortable. It had an excellent bed. Decoration was very eclectic, New Mexican, just lovely. The bathroom was delightful. Décor at the lobby and common areas was very nice. Stores were very chic! Bar service at night was also very fine; servers were professional and very kind. Hamburgers were delicious. The hotel is an example of the New Mexican diversity and blends very well Hispanic, Native American, and Western traditions. Employees are bilingual and they speak English and Spanish. It is very close to the Loreto Chapel and the hotel gave us free tickets to visit the chapel. Temperature in the rooms was easy to manage and you feel very comfortable inside the hotel. The Inn offers a very good parking area and the room price includes parking. This is very good when you are doing a road trip; to find a parking place in downtown Santafe is not easy. Location is very good. It is walking distance from most interesting sites. Front desk employees serve as concierges as well; they were quite good.
The hotel is somewhat expensive; we paid 500 dollars per night and we stayed there for three nights. The reasons why I don't give perfect scores to this hotel are a few: 1. The room was very dark and the windows little. Balconies were not very special. 2. Breakfast: servers need training. Breakfast menu was not delicate. Plates were very caloric and quite big. 3. If it rains, the noise of the rain may disturb your sleep as the water runs trough very old and noisy canals in the roof and balconies. 4. It is somewhat massive.

I stayed at the Inn for three nights in early July with my son and daughter in law. It’s extremely well located, within an easy walk of the Plaza. We had breakfast daily at Luminaria, the hotel restaurant, which has a beautiful outdoor patio, and enjoyed great service and food. Because the building is so old, apparently there are AC issues. My room’s AC worked sporadically and the room never got truly cool no matter how I fiddled with the thermostat. My son and DIL had more serious issues with their room and the second night they had to change rooms twice because the AC wouldn’t work at all (we’re taking middle of the night moves).
When my son talked to the manager the next day, he was apologetic (and offered a credit half a night’s stay). He said the presence of a large number of guests had stressed the system and it should be better our last night since a wedding party and guests had checked out.
I share this information because it seems to me that you shouldn’t have to roll the dice here and hope that when you stay the AC system isn’t stressed from overuse so you can have a cool room. I wouldn’t stay here again during the summer months.
