We stopped here for a one night stay on our way back to ABQ from Taos. Our room was upgraded. The room was spacious and well appointed. The beds were comfortable. As a Marriott Gold , I am aware of the evening reception and so we had a late lunch and thought we would visit the lobby during those hours. The Tuesday theme was OFF THE GRILL. We arrived at the lobby and saw a sign that said :" too hot to cook" so they would be offering sandwiches. The offering was: lunch meat, cheese, sliced tomatoes, lettuce and HAMBURGER BUNS. Additionally, they had guacamole and regular potato chips. The beverages were green tea, coffee and water. I inquired as to what was going on and was told by the hostess: we do not participate in the other items. I assumed there was a Residence Inn brand standard but am rethinking that it is optional. Would they offer carrot sticks and celery with ketchup for dipping, since that is what they had in the pantry? It really confused me. The breakfast was very good and so I assume this was just a lack of planning or maybe they just tossed a few things out there to get it over with. Bottom line, the rooms are great but the evening reception ( that is customary) is not. Location is a quick drive to attractions and there is a nice park right down the street with lovely roses. I would stay here again but plan to eat dinner out. Unless you just need something very quick.

We knew that we would only be using this hotel as a base, whilst we explored the area and it was perfect for that. The room was basic but large and a good size to sit down after a day of hiking and walking. Breakfast was crazy busy, so we tended to avoid it. We had issues with shampoos, conditioners and coffee never being replaced but overall, if we did another trip to the area we would be happy staying here.

This is one of those two-story building hotels with a door to the outside with outside stairs only. As titanium members, we’re supposed to get the top floor room all the time, but for some reason we were given a 1st floor room so we had to go back to the front desk and specifically request for the 2nd floor room and they were able to accommodate it. The building shows some age overall, but it was generally clean. One problem was that our room did not get serviced on our 1st night! By the time we got back to the room and realized it had not been serviced, the housekeeping crew was already gone, so they couldn’t do anything about it. The front desk person was very apologetic and did everything she could to remedy the situation by bringing us towels and an extra bottle of water so I do not hold this against her, but still it was a disappointing experience. The breakfast area was rather cramped but we were able to find a place to sit and eat. They had some real, ceramic plates in addition to the paper plates and plastic utensils, but they were rather hidden in the lower shelf, so almost everybody was using the non-environmentally friendly one time use paper plates. They should make the ceramic plates more visible to encourage guests to use that option more. Santa Fe is not a big town, so the location was fine, it was rather a short drive to get to any restaurants or downtown.
