La Posada de Santa Fe captivates guests with its charming Pueblo village-like atmosphere and prime location, just a stone's throw from downtown Santa Fe and its famed art galleries. While the cozy rooms with fireplaces are often praised, some guests have noted a need for updates and better upkeep.
Opinions on service and value are mixed; some commend the helpful staff and shuttle service, but others feel the high rates don't match the level of service received. The hotel's amenities, including a pool and unique Santa Fe style decor, are popular despite calls for refurbishment.

La Posada is an excellent resort. Staff are outstanding. Check-in was easy with front desk staff pleasant, helpful and efficient. Rooms are all different, a major charm of this hotel. We have stayed here numerous times and have always been pleased with the accommodations. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed, excellent shower with very good water pressure and nicely maintained. Do not expect an excess of electric outlets and USB ports as this is an older property, but the number of outlets is definitely adequate. The grounds are beautiful with a definite Southwestern flavor, well maintained lots of low adobe buildings. The restaurant, Julia's is excellent with a great staff. Location is just several blocks from the Plaza and easily walkable to almost everything. There is a hotel car that will take you within 2 miles included in the resort fee, which we only used occasionally. This is definitely our go to hotel in Santa Fe and we are already planning a return trip.

The very best part of staying at La Posada was the staff they were wonderful all of them. The location was walking distance to town which was a plus and if you need a ride within a 2 mile radius a car was available. We used it when we went to Geronimo, it was very convenient Herbert, our driver has been with the hotel 20+ years! and was very accommodating. the property itself is very nice but really as a whole it needs a nip and tuck. The grounds have plantings but most of it was rocky landscape. For the most part it was very well maintained. It was a shame that as Gold Status Bonvoy members an upgrade was not available ( nothing is guaranteed) because our room could have used some attention. It was an upstairs room and the view overlooked the roof of the adjacent rooms, not a great view. The room had a wood burning fireplace (too warm to use) wonderful wood beam ceilings and the bones of the room where fine, but there was a Hodge podge of furniture that just didn't match or give the feeling of being an intended collection. The room was also dark and the available lighting was not sufficient. The room did have a coffee maker which is always appreciated and towels and bedding were nice, along with robes. There was a nice size flat screen T.V. As mentioned this was an upstairs room so if you have difficulty with stairs you should note that when making a reservation. As we descended the stairs from our room there was a room with the window directly in the walkway which would have been a problem if it had been ours. There are clearly differences in the positioning of the rooms. There is a pool with a bar, I can't comment on it or the spa because we were too busy seeing the sites to experience them. As with most properties there is a resort fee which I wish all properties would discontinue and just include it in the price of the room so there are no surprise. Would I return to La Posada sure but I would be more specific with regard to the room location. Also shout out to Monique who helped us with luggage, getting car service and was just always helpful. The hotel is pet friendly.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
I’m torn here, I love the grounds and the Casitas, the shuttle to restaurants and back is very convenient and it does have a spa on site. The restaurant was pleasant and had good food. However, we were “upgraded “ to a suite rm 250 because of our titanium status and it does not have a back patio chiminea or fireplace in the unit. We were not expecting to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs either. In fact, the bedroom does not have functioning HVAC and had a single small space heater that I put on my wife’s side. For someone who never sleeps with a comforter on because I run hot, it was cold! I think they had a light comforter because it must be hot in the summertime. My advice to management is to either switch out the comforter for the seasons or put an electric blanket on the bed. I literally think an electric blanket would make this suite habitable.
The hotel amenities do not list an EV charger, so I called ahead and they said there is a level one charger. The valet corrected that statement upon checking in and said that our cyber truck would not fit in that parking structure. I only bring this up so others know to charge before arrival and to encourage management to put a level two charger in the parking lot like a lot of us have at home. The closest Tesla supercharger is 15 minutes away BTW.
I do like the location and the valet folks are super friendly. But the actual Casitas are hit and miss as I discovered and at this price point I do not want to wake up cold throughout the night.
I stayed in room 250 January 24 if management would like to discuss further. I’m lifetime Titanium.

Dear SmacFamily, Thank you for the feedback provided for your most recent stay with us. We appreciate the loyalty. I have communicated all your concerns to our upper management in order to avoid the same issues for future opportunities. I'd like to mention that we are actively working on bringing EV charges to our property. My sincere apologize for not being able to accommodate your truck. We definitely could have done power 110 utilizing your own cord. I will make sure the team knows about this. We hope to see you back in the near future. Once again, thank you for staying with us. Best wishes. Hector Calles/ Front Office Director

I wanted to love this hotel and at over $400 a night I should have been able to do so. Unfortunately the hotel is sliding the wrong direction. The grounds are generally clean and well kept. I would, however, expect ash trays in the public spaces to be cleaned daily. The valet staff are excellent. The room feels old and dated. Many have a weird air conditioner unit on the floor and venting out the window, so we could not close our window. The furniture seems dated and getting worn. The gym is good. One tv did not work in the bar and one night the fire pits were out of gas. You just do not expect such at this price point and with the competition in town. Finally, the manager of the Julia’s Restaurant was not pleasant and really should not be working there. This hotel has the opportunity to be wonderful, but staking out the mid tier with mediocre is not where it should strive at $400+ rates with a resort fee. This seems to be a trend at Marriott properties and as a Titanium member I received not recognition and really anything, which also seems to be a trend.

Had a marvelous stay here at La Posada - cannot say enough good things. For starters - the staff here is incredible. The location of the hotel is also very close to the plaza but there is also a hotel driver that will take you anywhere up to 2 miles. We ate at the restaurant for breakfast every morning and truly was some of the best food we ate the entire time in Santa Fe. The hotel itself is also very charming and is very classic Santa Fe. Will return!!

We were driving across the country by car and scheduled rest stops along the way. This was one of those.
Good news was that the location was convenient and it is an easy walk to the sights of old town Santa Fe. The holel is spread out over a relatively large area and therefore feels uncrowded.
Bad news was that our room was a significant distance from where we were required to valet park our car. Accessing the car to put things away was time consuming and inconvenient. Not an ideal setup for motor travelers.
Restaurant was mixed bag. The menu was unappealing and had irrational price points. Small glass of milk was $8.00 while a large plate of cut fruit was only slightly more. Bill was presented handwritten (broken computer) and therefore difficult to verify. Staff was generally cordial but one breakfast waiter cursed the small tip at a nearby table (close enough for us to hear).
Room was okay but only had a single chair for comfort. Definite signs of aging in the bath and no readily accessible electrical outlets.

Dear Shermyanne. Thank you for the feedback provided from your most recent stay at La Posada. I sincerely apologize for not meeting your expectations this time. Our main goal with the valet parking is to make your life easier since there is not much parking around Santa Fe. in the future we could find a room option that is closer to the parking lot for more convenience. I will also communicate your restaurant concerns to our F&B Director, so he can review our internal policies and regulations to provide the right service in our outlets. I really hope you can give us another opportunity in the near future. Best wishes. Hector Calles / Front Office Director

Our room was nice, however with a fireplace inside the room, everything smelled like campfire. When we got home we realized the charged us $162 per room for nothing. 3 calls to the resort later and they tell me they can’t refund my money, she agrees it was charged incorrectly, and they tell me to put a dispute in with my credit card, she has no way of refunding me? This is slimy. You can’t help but think they were just hoping I didn’t see the charges. And they didn’t even give me my Bonvoy nights correctly!
Definitely passing on this hotel the next time through.

The location is convenient for walking to the plaza, Canyon Road art galleries or along the river. The property has had several makeovers and owners. It’s currently part of the Marriott Portfolio brand.
The complex is laid out like a Pueblo-like village with the rooms mimicking small casitas. The pool and hot tub and outdoor dining area are focal points. There’s also a spa where you can book massages and other treatments.
Despite of the reviews that mention tired and dirty rooms, my room was clean and comfortable. Each room seems to have some sort of outdoor seating. Mine was a courtyard shared by other rooms. Each room has a small fridge and a Nespresso coffee machine. I did not use the TV or restaurant.
There were two weddings on one of the nights which consumed much of the outdoor space. It was a bit loud until about 11pm.
Covering the walls of the public spaces is art by local artist. They are eye-catching and interesting to roam around.

When we had to change our vacation plans at the last moment, we decided to head to Santa Fe instead. Luckily, we were able to book a room here at the last minute.
The location of the resort couldn't be better! It's a short walk to the center of Old Santa Fe and Canyon Road, and everything they have to offer.
We were upgraded to a Sage Spa room when we arrived, which was spacious and comfortable. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful, and you can tell a lot of time and energy go into their maintenance. Unfortunately, the rooms don't get quite as much attention: while everything was clean and well-maintained, the furniture and bathrooms are dated. But we didn't spend much time in our room!
Breakfast was included with our room, but it wasn't very appetizing. And after paying for all of the "extras" that weren't included with the meal, it wasn't "free" either! So we decided to have breakfast outside of the hotel for the rest of our stay.
Which was a GREAT decision, because Santa Fe has so many great restaurants and cafes to choose from, and many are within walking distance of the hotel.
The hotel staff were pleasant and courteous, as were the valet parking staff. Whenever we needed our vehicle, they had it there within minutes (valet parking is included with the room, under the ubiquitous "resort fee").
It was a great place to spend the week, and have so much available within walking distance. The rooms, pool area and restaurants are a little dated and run down, so we wouldn't recommend dining there. But that was OK because of all the great dining options so close by.

This hotel location is great, just about a 5 minute walk for downtown Santa Fe. The quality of the room was disappointing. We had paid close to $500/night for a 1 bedroom suite with a fireplace and it was tiny! Only one person could walk by the bed at a time to go to the small dark bathroom. The fan light was broken in the bathroom and the hairdryer was on its last legs. The bed creaked loudly whenever you rolled over in the night. The beehive fireplace was cool but it was wood burning and we could not figure out how to get the damper open. After calling to request bedding for the pullout couch for my kids to sleep on that didn't arrive after an hour we didn't bother to ask for help with the fireplace so it never got used during our 3 night stay. Honestly they seemed pretty short staffed and the resort fee was ridiculous given there was about 1 resort activity per day. Mainly some kind of alcohol tasting or yoga, not much for families.

The casitas are not uniformly designed. You should ask for a detailed description of what is available. I don’t believe there will be a kitchenette, however. The prices lead you to think it will be very comfortable, if not luxurious. But they are “rustic,” and “charming” and not at all luxurious. Having 2 bathrooms will help. The bathrooms are small.
Try to find another hotel. La Posada was open as of last Friday July 23. However, very dysfunctional. They probably cannot answer the phone because they’re too busy pissing off their guests and dealing with the repercussions of their bad choices and lack of services, such as no valet parking and no midday food/beverage service. It’s very sad , used to be a nice hotel.
I dont know about Pa Posada. Although if you are in Santa Fe, you should try Inn and Spa At Loretto and eat at Chez Mamou the little French restaurant by the Cathedral.
There are more places to choose from in the Santa Fe area.
