La Posada de Santa Fe delights many with its charming ambiance and cozy rooms, complete with fireplaces and local decor. While the prime location is lauded for its proximity to attractions, some guests feel that the value doesn't align with the high costs and mention overpriced amenities. The hotel's cleanliness receives positive marks, but there are occasional comments about noise and service inconsistencies. Though the gym and pool may disappoint some, the staff's politeness and helpfulness often make a lasting impression.

This hotel location is great, just about a 5 minute walk for downtown Santa Fe. The quality of the room was disappointing. We had paid close to $500/night for a 1 bedroom suite with a fireplace and it was tiny! Only one person could walk by the bed at a time to go to the small dark bathroom. The fan light was broken in the bathroom and the hairdryer was on its last legs. The bed creaked loudly whenever you rolled over in the night. The beehive fireplace was cool but it was wood burning and we could not figure out how to get the damper open. After calling to request bedding for the pullout couch for my kids to sleep on that didn't arrive after an hour we didn't bother to ask for help with the fireplace so it never got used during our 3 night stay. Honestly they seemed pretty short staffed and the resort fee was ridiculous given there was about 1 resort activity per day. Mainly some kind of alcohol tasting or yoga, not much for families.

i was here on business for 1 night. Its a gorgeous resort - lovely property, well maintained grounds. Check in was quick - the rooms were awesome. I was at the back of the resort in a fireplace room. Huge suite with a separate living and sleeping area. Lovely seating area out where i took many of my phone calls. Room was pretty spacious - had a wood burning fireplace as well. I dint use it. The service is good - we would grab some drinks and go and sit in the library and talk business. This is a great resort to come visit on vacation. It serves the purpose for business but it is definitely better for relaxed vacations.

Been staying here off and on for work for over 10 years, but it has gone downhill. Keep a close eye on your belongings. I left a winter jacket on the coat rack in the gym and it was gone the next morning. Hotel staff was dismissive including two phone calls and two emails. Of course, it’s best not to leave something like that in a gym, but I’ve seen coats, phones and other equipment left in public gyms for days and not taken. The hotel staff was insistent another guest stole it, I guess that the type of guest who usually stays there? They were certain their staff had not misplaced it. Based on the indifference of the staff I would guess it was just tossed, but maybe it is a dangerous place where the guests take other people’s things? Either way I won’t be back.

Dear Wil C Thank you for staying with us. After reading your review, I would like to assure you that our property's personnel is very honest. Sometimes some situations are not in our hands. I am sorry you forgot your jacket in a public area. When an associate finds an item, he/she will turn it in to our lost and found department. I can also confirm we have the best clients staying in our beautiful hotel. La Posada and out town are well known for being safe places. I am sorry you feel different way. As always, thank you for staying with us. La Posada has always open doors for our important guests. Best wishes. Hector Calles/Front Office Director.

This is an excellent Santa Fe hotel, with all the graciousness of Santa Fe decor and style. Their wide selection of suite setups is phenomenal and their sprawling adobe single-floor complex with individual kiva fireplaces has the same Rancho style of historic Spanish haciendas. This is Santa Fe at her best! This large resort complex so close to The Plaza is quite a surprise and is truly unique. The privacy of each suite is delicious, with the outdoor pool secluded in the interior courtyard of the complex. The first and larger outer courtyard is for gatherings, with many patio tables and a large fireplace. We were there for a banquet, which was fine dining, where we had a wonderful 3 course meal. Their complimentary valet parking and free WiFi were a refreshing relief at checkout. These typical ‘extra fees’ are such an irritating discovery at so many of the larger hotel brands these days! And La Posada has no resort fee, either. If you wish to receive a true Santa Fe experience, they cannot be beat. And all their staff was attentive and responsive. But Goldyne at the front desk was most especially so. Thank you La Posada for a great reception!

This is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed in for a long, long time. The rooms are comfortable. The restaurant was fabulous and since we are platinum members, we got breakfast. TERRIFIC food. Choose anything off the menu. From eggs any style with very good bacon or sausage, to French toast. But THE BEST thing about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was warm and friendly and so helpful. We stayed during the off-season so the property was not crowded. If the property had been busy, it might have been a big noisy. We would definitely stay here again.

After years of staying semi-annually at a different Santa Fe hotel, we decided to give La Posada a try. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this property, even though travelling in January we didn’t get to use some of the amenities…we will probably try La Posada for our next summer trip so we can see the property in summer and use more of the amenities. Room: The bed was so comfortable. Seriously. The fireplace was wonderful too, and we definitely made use of it. The furniture though could use some updating. Blah carpet and giant cabinets took up a lot of room. The fireplace was lovely but our room didn’t really have a place to comfortably sit and enjoy it! There was a built-in bench but to fit two people, but it needed a footstool. Room décor is a little fusty and clunky, but the bed was divine and its cozy duvet was perfect for winter snuggling. Bathroom: was unheated and dark, but clean and had good storage. I appreciated the soaps, etc in refillable bottles (avoiding small disposable ones) and water temp and pressure was good. Restaurants/bar: We had some light meals and drinks in the bar and breakfast one morning. The breakfast service was painfully slow. WE sat down at breakfast at 8:45 so I could have a bite to eat before a spa appointment at 9:30. I unfortunately had to shovel down 3 bites of my food when it came at 9:25. Forty minutes for breakfast??? Weird. Despite glacially slow food service, the drinks and food were good. Service in general: was wonderful. Everyone was welcoming and helpful. We had some small problems with our electronic door lock and they sent someone right away while they provided complimentary drinks by the fire in the bar. This was very thoughtful. Pet-friendly: This property is so pet friendly that it seemed there were more guests with them than without. The paths were great for dog walking and there were designated spaces for pets as well. Spa: Great service and treatments. I had an 80 minute high dessert healer massage which was wonderful and also a 50 minute facial which was equally good. The spa area overall was tranquil and the robes were high quality. I used the fitness room one day and found high end equipment in excellent condition. Location/convenience: a little bit of a walk to the main square but the weather wasn’t too bad. Lots of good shopping, art and dinner options in walking distance. The spa was one of the reasons we booked La Posada instead of our regular hotel. I will be curious to return to try out the pool and see the property in summer. A few people complained about heat in reviews—we never had a problem! Overall an excellent stay that met my high expectations.

After traipsing through snow mounted fountains and patio furniture, being turned around several times, I finally found my room. The tall glass paned double doors invited me into a frigid but quaint room, replete with in room fireplace. After hastily dropping the window and door coverings to seal out the freezing temperature outside, I attempted to turn up the heat before heading to dinner with my fellow commissioners during our Elected Officials training put on by the NM Municipal League. 2 hours later, my room was sub-zero, and the heater was obviously not working. I called the front desk, who said they would send someone, but I received no assistance. An hour later, I called again, and someone promptly came over, got the heater up and running, after testing the room temp (51° in the air, 48° by the door.) It took a bit to warm up, but around 11pm I was snug as a bug in a rug. The heater was great the entire next day, but lo and behold when I came back in after dinner, the heater was on the fritz again. I called maintenance again, and the Manager Lesley, sent the same gent right over. He got it up and running again and everything was fine. Not one to bitch about these little trifles, (hell, I keep my bedroom at 58), I was not overly concerned, other than the fact that if I didn't have some source of heat, I might actually freeze to death as David pointed out. So, everything was great. I was working on some “homework,” when the front desk called me back and asked me if they could send me something over. Thinking it was going to be an emergency spare heater, I said, “sure thing!” A few minutes later, a concierge appeared at my door offering me a Lamarca Prosecco sparkling wine with glass, Marriot cookies and candies, and a hand written apology card from the manager herself, which also included a card for a free dessert! Talk about going above and beyond in your profession! I’m one of those people that rarely gets upset, is not quick to anger, has quasi-unlimited patience and I was not in the slightest offended or disparaged about the malfunctioning heating system, and yet they went out of their way to say sorry and make me feel special. Kudo's Lesley and team, I will definitely be staying here again!

La Posada de Santa Fe was the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed at. Gabby took the time to answer my questions & offer tips before arrival & that was appreciated. Check in & out was easy. Upon arrival the valet service was efficient. The shuttle service which was available for a 2-mile radius was great. Our walk to rm 171 allowed us to enjoy the well-maintained landscaping. The main building was like taking a step back in time. The Rose room, library, Staab bar & main den area were cozy with fireplaces burning. We enjoyed the artwork too. The Staab bar was 1st class. Robert was our server for several nights & offered fantastic service & drinks. The Staab bar menu was delicious. We enjoyed duck tacos & green chile pork stew. The hotel was in a perfect location & walking to many places was convenient. We look forward to returning.

My room was not touched the entire 3 days I was here. All I really wanted was my coffee restocked and death trap of a broken, rusty ironing board swapped out. No such luck - even though I walked to the front desk every day to ask. Why not just call, you ask? Because the phone in my room was just a prop. No dial tone. Even though it was plugged in. The front desk assured me daily that the coffee would be restocked and that the room would be tidied - never happened. The only redeeming quality of this hotel was the shuttle, no matter how old and dirty. I’ve stayed at many hotels in SF, more and less expensive than this place that have delivered a higher quality of service on all fronts. Probably won’t stay here again. Signed, Undercaffeinated and underwhelmed

This hotel is lovely!! One of the most unique hotels I’ve ever visited, and we loved everything. The staff could not have been any nicer, everyone was a pleasure!! As a bonvoy Marriott Titanium, I love a Marriott …and the room upgrade, late checkout and breakfast perk were really amazing! Great breakfast meal served in their beautiful dining room. The entire hotel is gorgeous! The bar is fantastic. We loved exploring the unique rooms with so much art and cozy fireplaces. So charming! They have great touches like a quick and reliable black SUV for transport (free within 2 miles), unique and yummy hot beverages out daily, plus coffee in the morning. Nespresso makers in room. I rarely write reviews, but this resort truly deserves accolades!!!
