The Inn of the Governors enjoys acclaim for its exceptional service, with guests frequently citing the staff's warm welcome and helpfulness. Its prime location garners praise for easy access to Santa Fe's attractions, making it a favorite for travelers. While the cozy, well-equipped rooms with fireplaces and balconies are a hit, a few guests note the walls could be better insulated against noise.

I am delayed in writing a review, but just had to exclaim about this lovely spot! Kenneth at the front desk was so patient and helpful, taking the time to give us detailed information about the Inn and the environs. All the employees were friendly and seemed genuinely happy yo be working there. Our room (317 - in the main building) was lovely with a small balcony and easy access to the lobby and breakfast area of their restaurant. There was a helpful parking attendant who made sure we could locate a spot with ease. Their pool area, while small, was so beautiful and popular with families. Plus I thought the price was reasonable compared to some other Inns in the historic Plaza area.

+1
This was our second stay at Inn if the Governors and it’s our go-to hotel when visiting beautiful Santa Fe. One main draw is the on site parking – this makes life so much easier than it must be in other downtown hotels. It’s got the perfect SW style and is the right mix of relaxing & upmarket with lots of different room types to choose from for differing budgets. We’ve usually opted for a deluxe fireplace room & have never been disappointed. The staff were very accommodating when we arrived early to check in saying they could call us as soon as the room was ready. Once we had checked in later, the room was large & comfy (decorated in the SW style with lots of nice touches that feel unique to the area). Ours had a large seating area & a fireplace (not that we needed it in June!) and we had a peaceful night’s sleep in the wonderfully large, spotlessly clean bed. No complaints at all about the room (other than a tiny niggle that the room we had this time around was in a different wing & the noise seemed to carry a bit further & was quite audible when other patrons were going to and from their rooms, but sometimes this is more about the noisy patrons than the hotel construction itself.)
As most other patrons will tell you, they have a tea/sherry hour in the afternoon, which is a nice touch if you want to mingle with the guests or enjoy a tipple out by the pool or in the spacious lobby. You can see the hotel takes pride in it’s appearance with all the small details, and it’s very clean & comfortable throughout. The flowers are beautiful too if you visit at the right time of year!
Other appealing features are the Del Charro Saloon for on-site bar food or excellent margaritas (and if you book direct with the hotel as we have always done, you get a credit for the saloon each day), and then there's the excellent ‘sunrise breakfast’ which is included in the stay – another draw for us, as it’s plentiful, good quality & served in the large restaurant rooms through the lobby.
The location is also excellent, being just down the road from the main square and in walking distance to lots of things in the downtown area. All in all, I would recommend in a heartbeat and we look forward to another stay when next in Santa Fe!!

We’ve stayed in Santa Fe many, many times. I personally like to try new places each time I come. This was a first at the Inn of the Governors. We booked a basic king room. I was a little concerned that it might be too small, but it fit our needs perfectly. We had a quiet room in a courtyard area of the hotel. We were able to park our car a few feet away from our door and wheel our luggage in. At the front desk while checking in, the gentleman gave us a small tray with two glasses of Sherry, cinnamon cookies, Marcona almonds, dried apricots and figs.
Before Covid they provided these items in a happy hour setting. They had everything wrapped on an iced tray for us to take to our room. After our long drive, it was a special treat. The room itself was older but the bedding and mattress were comfortable. There were special little Santa Fe touches everywhere. From the New Mexico Handpainted tiles, to the hammered tin Toiletry boxes And artwork. The room was furnished with care. It was very quiet and we had a comfortable night sleep (after enjoying a meal and cocktails at the coyote cafe and the La Fonda rooftop deck for a nightcap).
The next morning we went to the pool deck where we enjoyed a sit down breakfast (included)which was extremely good. Our choices were delicious New Mexico fare.
The Staff could not have been nicer.
A noon checkout allowed us to walk off breakfast all around town. The value for this room was another reason we choose the hotel. It’s not the newest or the largest but it’s comfortable, authentic and the staff go out of their way to make sure that you’re taken care of. The location is central to all that you want to see in Santa Fe and a short walk away. There was also a bar setup off the lobby area for the locals. Due to COVID and the governors directive to out-of-towners to self quarantine for 14 days, this area was off-limits to guests. It served as a locals hotspot. As Santa Fe returns to allowing full occupancy and less restrictions, this area will again be open for hotel guests. There is another bar owned by the hotel, around the corner. Unfortunately, due to the state restrictions, they were allowing only a small percentage of guests in at a time and were full when we tried to stop by. We have frequented this bar on other trips, and the food, atmosphere and drinks are very good.
I would recommend you give this hotel a try.

I booked this place for a night in Santa Fe to celebrate my mom's birthday. Based on the price ($350 when I stayed) and reviews I though it would be a nice, higher end experience. Unfortunately I was quite wrong.
First, the parking lot is so small and tight that it was a struggle to park even my compact car without scratching someone else's in the process. If you have truck...good luck with that. The rooms were nice, clean, and well designed in a classic NM style but the walls must be made of paper because I could hear everything happening in all the rooms around us. The person next door watched TV until 4 am, it must have been funny because they laughed a whole lot. Every time anyone ran their water it sounded like monsoon season in the deep jungle. I know the pipes are old but, jeeze, either fix them or lower the rate. The garbage truck came to empty the dumpster in the wee hours which sounded like an impromptu Stomp performance outside the window. I mentioned all of this front desk person in the morning and received a, "oh, I'm sorry" as a consolation prize. On the plus side, it's very close to the plaza.
So, I guess only book this place if you drive a smart car and are going to be the loudest person there. People with insomnia might also enjoy, since you wont be trying to sleep anyway and they have the funny TV stations.

The hotel is clean and very safe. I liked that they waited on housekeeping until you told them you were going out and then the room was perfectly made up when we returned after lunch. (Didn't have to ask twice.) The pool was lovely! The sherry/cookie welcome gift was a wonderful touch, and we felt very taken care of. The morning breakfast was very nice, and there were good choices. We made good use of the daily $15 credit to the onsite restaurant as well- love that we could have it delivered right to the room! The location couldn't be beat, right downtown. Didn't have to drive to ANYTHING. Would definitely stay again.

We are just finishing our three night stay, and it has been perfect! Sam, the general manager, is a wonderful host. The property is quaint, and impeccably maintained in Santa Fe style, including a wood burning fireplace. On site restaurant is very good with wicked good margaritas. The included breakfast is a full menu breakfast, delivered to your room due to covid.
The location is perfect.
The room is great.
We travel a lot, hotels are a hobby. This was a great find, you will not be disappointed.

While we had planned to stay in hotel where we had stayed on a previous trip, we unable to get a room and thus discovered the Inn of the Governors. Admittedly, we’re thrilled we had the opportunity to stay here. It’s wonderful and we couldn’t be happier.
Our stay was beyond enjoyable. Guests receive a welcome gift of sweet & dry sherry, fruit, nuts and biscochitos (New Mexico’s state cookie)
It’s location lends itself to walking just about anywhere you want to go. It’s located about two blocks from the Plaza and so well within walking distance to the plethora of eateries, shops and museums in and around the Plaza. There is ample on property parking so like us, you may not use your car your entire stay.
A hot, made to order breakfast is available every morning and Del Charro is part of the building so you can enjoy all your meals on property if so desired. For guests booking directly through the hotel, a 15% discount is available for Del Charro also.
The southwestern decor is beautiful and welcoming. The rooms don’t have that cookie cutter hotel appearance. They are comfortable, beautifully decorated and well appointed. Ceramic coffee mug with Wolfgang Puck coffee and glass water tumblers.
Extra bed linens and pillows in the closet. That’s in addition to the 6 pillows on the bed. Robes are also provided. There is plenty of seating.
The pool is lovely & secluded
Gilchrist & Soames shower gel, shampoo & conditioner is provided in pump dispensers.
The staff is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable
I could just rave on about how much we enjoyed our stay and we will definitely come back again. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could and that’s saying something because we’re very particular about hotels when traveling and as quick to give a lousy review when appropriate as a good one when we have enjoyed a good stay
I definitely recommend The Inn of the Governors to anyone traveling to Santa Fe.
Many thanks to the Inn of the Governors and it’s fabulous staff for a memorable stay in Santa Fe.

We planned a visit to Santa Fe to see a performance at the Lensic Theater and we wanted to stay at a hotel within walking distance and one with a Spanish charm. We chose the Inn of the Governors and we loved our stay! The location was perfect for walking to see the historic sites in Old Santa Fe and there were numerous dining options nearby.
We booked a room with a fireplace and it was on the second floor had a lovely view of the pool. There was an elevator but we preferred the stairs. The room was quiet and it had a large, comfortable king size bed. We enjoyed building a fire and there was plenty of wood. For breakfast we enjoyed plentiful delicious ham, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, pastries, eggs, yogurt and oatmeal. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Perfect stay!

I wish I could have stayed longer. Inn of the Governors exceeded all expectations for me. The staff was friendly 100% of the time and were always willing to make sure we were accommodated.
The room itself was in immaculate condition. Everything was clean and the decor is exactly what you would expect when visiting Santa Fe.
I love love loved having the fireplace in the room. It was pretty cold outside so to be able to have a cozy fire was great. I was able to keep it going with an unlimited supply of wood which was just a fee steps away.
I enjoyed the "tea and sherry hour" where I drank a warm cup of tea outside next to a fireplace to keep us warm.
The location is a 5 minute walk from their square which is loaded with shops and restaurants.
This was my first trip to New Mexico and I'm so glad I made the choice to come here. Inn of the Governors made this trip feel more like pleasure than business. Thanks!

We have been coming to The Inn of the Govenors for about 10 years now, and it really is "Your home in the heart of Santa Fe". We'voe stayed at other hotels in Santa Fe but Inn of the Governors is the best. After not visiting last year due to COVID, it was wonderful to see many of the staff still there. They are almost like family to us. The hotel has many employees who have been with them for years, and we were so happy to see them again. The rooms are spotless, and free parking in the middle of the plaza is a priceless amenity. Even though they did not have the breakfast buffet due to COVID, breakfast was still included ordering from is a menu with many delicious options. The $15 room credit at Del Charro is just another benefit. We ate lunch there every day and never waited more than a few minutes before the waitstaff would take our order. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and a great menu. We don't want to stay anywhere else in Santa Fe!

Yes, very nice place.
Good breakfast
We do authorize room, tax plus $40 per day incidentals on a credit card at check in. Thanks.
Hello,
We apologize for the delayed response! Yes, there is a hertz rental agency at the La Fonda hotel which is approximately 4 blocks from us.
I concur with the above. I do not know about a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, but taxis and Uber should suffice. Walking from the hotel into Old Town is easy. There is a Santa Fe city shuttle that loops through a couple of tourist areas. A tip: take that shuttle to the top of Canyon Road and walk downhill to see the art galleries. From there it is a relatively short walk back to Inn of the Governors.
Sorry to be so long in answering. We love the governors wing. Bigger rooms with kiva. If you went to Santa Fe, hope you lived Inn of the Governors as much as we do!
