“Delightful” and Enchanted” are two words that sum up our recent visit to Inn of the Five Graces. From the moment of our arrival, we were met with genuine warmth and hospitality from the valet to the front desk. Elissa, our concierge, seemed five steps ahead in anticipating our needs for our stay—she was the world’s most cheerful mind reader. She recommended activities for us both at the inn and beyond that made our stay so enjoyable. Our breakfasts were delicious, and Nancy made sure we never stared at an empty cup of coffee. Jorge and the crew at the valet whisked us around in the hotel’s car when we wanted to grab a bite off the property—but with the Pink Adobe next door, we didn’t need to go far for amazing NM cuisine. The grounds were impeccable, our room a work of art…my husband and I travel frequently and we are hard pressed to think of another stay that has been as magical in our 25 years of vacationing together. We truly will remember it as the Inn of 5000 Graces.

Honestly, the main reason to go to this hotel is for the decor. Absolutely stunning. Our room was SO beautiful. The tiling in the bathroom was GORGEOUS. Our room was by a courtyard so we couldn’t leave the windows open or people would look in. This was a bit annoying as the room was very dark the whole time, except for a skylight. The bed was super comfy as were the pretty lawn chairs in the courtyard.

The service was okay—they were very nice, but I didn’t feel that they were as cautious as they should be with Covid-19. The day we got there, the very nice man showing us around came into the room with us—I realize he was just wanting to give us a grand tour of the beautiful space, but we have been sanitizing our rooms at hotels with a serious passion, so having someone in there was a bit uncomfortable in these times, sadly. Someone else then came in without asking to bring us some things. Not a HUGE deal, but something to note. Other than that, they welcomed us to our room with delicious chips and salsa, and my service dog even got some delicious treats!

As an Amex Platinum member I really appreciated the perks—there was no spa credit, obviously, but we had a credit for dinner and a full minibar for free which is a WIN! It wasn’t an average minibar either. There was brie in there. The breakfast was delicious-loved the huevos rancheros!! The drinks at the bar were great too.

We spent 2 nights at the Inn, and had a wonderful stay. First, the location is ideal...close to the Plaza, but off on a quiet street. The service from every hotel employee that we encountered was exceptional, friendly and sincere. We stayed in the Lapis suite, which is on the 2nd floor. The suite was lovely and spacious, and included a microwave, and refrigerator with complimentary snacks. The bathroom was huge with a large soaking tub. The room included breakfast, which could be room service, or served in the small dining room. There is a nice selection of breakfast options, and the food and service was great. Lastly, the front desk sent a couple of emails ahead of time with lots of information on restaurants and things to do in the area. We will definitely return.

I have held off from my writing my review of Inn of the Five Graces for a few weeks since we returned home in order to fully process our time there, and in my opinion, give a fair and honest review.

As in all places, there are pros and cons, however, we felt that there were more cons and there were pros in this situation.

My husband and I booked this vacation so that we could have a relaxing time away before beginning IVF. We wanted rest (which is not uncommon on a vacation). Over the course of our stay we were in two rooms; the first being Magnolia, and the second being a suite (Cottonwood).
While the Magnolia room itself is beautiful (the bathroom is a thing of beauty), there is a delivery truck that makes a ton of noise every morning outside of the room at 5:00 am. I proceeded to ask the night manager if this was a daily occurrence (it felt very similar to the film, My Cousin Vinny), and he said it was. When I spoke with the day crew up at the front, they offered to change our room, however, the room they wanted to change us to was not as nice and the bathroom was just around 1/4 of the size. So, we opted to pass and just understood that we would have to go to bed early in order to get enough sleep.
When we ended up switching to Cottonwood, we couldn't tell where the noise was coming from, but, we slept around a grand total of an hour due to how noisy the rooms either next to us were, and or noise coming from the street.
All in all, our sleep experience here was a 1/5.

The staff were incredibly nice and helpful. I want to give specific shoutouts to Randy and Nadine, as well as the staff who served breakfast. However, Vera, who works the front desk, made a face every time we came in, and seemed almost irritated. You do not have to like every guest that stays there, but, nothing we asked was outlandish. It seemed a bit unwarranted.
Staff 4/5

The food:
The complimentary breakfast is very nice, however, we felt that the price you pay in order to stay here, the portions should be larger. As example, pancakes: only getting two pancakes, it is not a ton of food.
3/5

The Spa:
One of the reasons we came here was for R&R, and it says on their website, (in addition to the paperwork they send you), to book and to plan your massages prior to your arrival. We did. The staff could not get this right. They had to change our day twice for our massage, and then on top of this, they forgot to cancel one of the original massages and were curious why we didn't go. It was a bit of a mess. Took about 1.5 days of us being there to properly organize this.
The massages themselves were great, Martha is a great masseuse. The spa itself is very nice and tranquil. We wish the pool would have been open, but, it was broken.
3/5

You pay a ton of money to stay here and honestly, we felt overall that the amount we paid was not reflected at all in the stay we were given. We had high expectations and for the reasons listed above, it fell flat. If you are more into aesthetics than you are sleeping, then, this may be a great choice for you. However, if you care about rest, and all of the other points I have mentioned, I would consider other places

I have been traveling to Santa Fe for 20 years, and it had always been a dream of mine to stay at the Inn of the Five Graces. The stars finally aligned in April when we stayed there for 3 nights. We reserved 2 rooms and they were both amazing. My husband and I were traveling with our French Bulldog. When we arrived, the room was fully furnished with everything our dog needed for the stay (we let them know before arriving that we had a dog). Check-in was simple and pleasant. Each room was decorated with individual charm.
Service was world class. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional and extremely well trained. We enjoyed cocktails on the patio each night. Also each night, someone would come light a fireplace in our room. I've traveled many places, but that was a first for me.
We took full advantage of the courtesy car that picked us up and dropped us off around town. They were always on time and friendly.
Checkout was equally easy.
The entire stay was exceptional. Thank you to the GM Erin- we look forward to our return visit!

We REALLY wanted to love this place. We originally booked a four night stay in a premium one bedroom suite as the highlight of our cross country trip. This is not an inexpensive hotel—this room category averages about $1200+ a night. For that price point and considering all the rave reviews this hotel gets, we expected great things. Let’s start with the good: The location is great—you can walk to most attractions. Second, the staff is very helpful and gracious. They have a private car that will take you and pick you up from wherever you want to go within a certain radius. This is a great feature—especially if you have mobility issues and/or you don’t want to worry about parking. Last, the furniture is beautiful…lots of rich, beautiful colors and textures which are a treat to the eye. So where does this place fall short? Let’s be real: No one wants to pay over $1,000 a night and hear footsteps and toilets flushing in the floor above them. On top of that, you can hear trucks collect trash in the early morning. Next, while the furniture is pretty to look at, it’s not very comfortable and could probably use new cushions. Much charm is lost when you just don’t feel comfortable when you’re relaxing. Within a few hours we realized this hotel did not meet our expectations and called the front desk to see if we could shorten our stay without penalty. After we explained how we felt, they offered us the opportunity to switch rooms, but we declined as we had already unpacked. They understood and were kind enough to allow us to shorten our stay by two nights without penalty. (Of note: We had tickets for the Georgia O’Keefe museum the following day which is why we didn’t leave after we checked in.) Don’t get me wrong—it’s a nice hotel…it’s just not worth what they are charging in my opinion. At the high end, this room should cost $700 (though my husband thinks $500 would be more appropriate). Also something to keep in mind—if you have mobility issues, you may want to think twice about staying here. There are uneven surfaces, stairs here and there…and just as another example, my husband’s walker barely fit through the front door of our room. I would recommend you talk to the front desk about any mobility issues you have prior to booking to see if this hotel will work for you. I want to be clear though—the low rating is not due to the mobility issues we noted…it is because the price point is too high for the amount of noise you hear while in your room as well as the comfort of the furniture. For over $1,000 a night, a hotel room should be whisper quiet and the furniture should be so plush and comfortable that you never want to leave your room.

The Inn of the Five Graces is a beautiful property in the heart of Santa Fe. It is a unique property in all the best ways; the decor is stunning, the location is perfect and the staff is amazing. From check in to check out the service was impeccable. The staff was very helpful at recommending and securing dinner reservations and nothing was too much of an ask. We opted for breakfast in our 2 bedroom suite and the quality of the food was superb. I often stay at Relais Chateaux properties around the world and the Inn of the Five Graces is in the top with the best of them. The hotel is also doing a wonderful job at making sure that guests feel comfortable and safe during the pandemic-something I think that is important to note during these times.

It has been months since our visit, yet I still find myself thinking about the blissful stay at the Inn. The rooms are stunning with decor unlike anything in any other hotel in the US. If you are considering a stay you have no doubt seen pictures of the incredible mosaic tile work and gorgeous rugs and upholstery featured in the rooms, but you really must see it all in person to fully appreciate the jaw-dropping beauty. The spa too—breathtakingly beautiful and fantastic treatments. The property is impeccably maintained and each arrival back from wandering around Santa Fe left us feeling so fortunate that this was our home away from home. I wish I had taken notes on all of the lovely staff who added to our stay, thank you to all of you! I do recall Dalia being a sweet and excellent server with helpful insight on local cuisine as well as sites to see. Still considering the stay? If you can swing it in your travel budget, book it—it is an unforgettable luxury experience!

What a gorgeous, luxurious inn! We loved the quirky decor of a mixture of south/western and Indian/Silk Road fabrics and furniture. Breakfast was delightful taken in the charming inner courtyard with a fountain (though not all the dishes we tried were successful). Excellent location, we could walk to everywhere we wanted to go, apart from Museum Hill and the hotel courtesy car took us and came back for us. We stayed in a beautiful premium one bedroom suite up on the first floor in the building across the street from the main hotel, with sitting room with little kitchen area, fridge stocked with included snacks and soft drinks, pod coffee machine. The bed was very comfy, there was a fireplace (not that we needed it, in fact the opposite and we never really got to grips with how to cool down the bedroom overnight), an “Alexa” and big, vibrantly coloured bathroom with huge bath and separate shower. The concierge was very helpful with recommending restaurants and making reservations. We certainly dined well each evening in Santa Fe!

Staying at the Inn Of Five Graces eluded our grasp during the pandemic, as we had to cancel two visits that were planned over the past 14 months. However, we were able to make our third stay recently.

The magic of the Inn of the Five Graces, is their ability to anticipate their guest needs. During breakfast, Randy, with customer service visits each table and and answers questions about the area and local restaurants.

Each room is a marvel of unique decorating, with enjoyable layouts and every possible amenity you need.

One of life’s great pleasures!
