The Bishop's Lodge Resort & Spa is not only a 4 star, luxury experience but also a step back in history. The beautiful grounds, the Adobe buildings, and the fabulous food make this an exciting place to be. It is a setting seen nowhere else in Santa Fe and an experience you'll never forget. This was the retreat for the... More

We looked forward to our 5-day in Santa Fe. The trip was fun because Santa Fe is great, but this lodge is terrible. We arrived around 8:30 PM on a Sunday night (3-31-08). After check-in and dropping off our bags, we went to the restaurant for dinner. It closes at 9:30 PM, and we were seated around 9 PM. We... More

I don't remember ever having been moved by a place to the point that I would take the time to write a review about it. We went there looking for a relaxing couple of days - and we really found it at The Bishop's Lodge. If you are looking for a beautiful, tranquil setting where time seems to stand still... More

After reading reviews for the Bishop's Lodge in Trip Advisor I asked for a Deluxe Ridge Room in the Chimesa Lodge. Hotels.com booked us a Ridge Room and when I called the Lodge directly they were nice enough to upgrade us to a deluxe room at no charge. The room was lovely - except for one small quirk. Water collected... More

I travel weekly and spend most of the time on the road staying at many wonderful places and some not so. This experience would rank in the "some not so". Overall its not a bad place but, for $250.00 per night including the resort fee no way. On a scale of 1-10, I would rank this place a 2.5. The... More

The setting of this historic hotel is dramatic when viewed from the highest rooms. Rooms here, which are in various older and newer buildings spread around the property, appear to be categorized and priced according to how old the particular building is. After reading, on Tripadvisor, about problems in certain of the buildings, I called to change the reservation to... More

I had a highly unsatisfactory experience at the Bishop’s Lodge. I booked a room at the Bishop’s Lodge for an October 18 stay. I used Orbitz.com. There was no mention of any “resort fee.” When I arrived I was told that my companion and I would each be assessed a “resort fee,” adding significantly to the price of our room.... More

The hotel is a historical piece of Sante Fe and has been preserved to reflect the flavor of an "old lodge" with modern ammenities. The service is ALWAYS exemplary and whenever we have had a situation requiring attention of the staff, we were well taken care of. The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is relaxing and rejuvinating. The spa is... More

The room I stayed in has not been updated since 1955. Sadly, it looked as though it had not been throughly cleaned since 2005.At $400 per night I expect a clean room, don't you ? Rveise your expectations at Bishop's Lodge.

Having read the reviews here, I was a bit concerned about booking a stay. I went ahead anyhow because I wanted/needed a resort with a children's program. It turns out that I made the right choice. We had no problems with our rooms. They were spacious and up to resort standards. It is important to point out that we stayed... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In August of 1851, a Frenchman, Jean Baptiste Lamy, arrived in the NM Territory as the first Bishop of Santa Fe. Here he built a private retreat; his chapel still stands today, now on the national register of historic places. After Lamy's Death, the land was acquired by the Pulitzer publishing family as a private vacation retreat. In 1917, the Thorpe family from Denver fell in love with these pristine acres, bought the property and developed the first resort in the state. Today Bishop's Lodge comprises 15 lodges for a total of 110 rooms ranging in sizes from 250 sq feet to 450, not to mention a 2000 sq foot Presidential Suite. Many of our rooms feature fireplaces and the majority all have outdoor access to patios, lawns or balconies. Our ShaNah Spa and Wellness Center which opened up in June of 2002 is a sanctuary where one can take time out to be nurtured by Mother Nature, guided by ancient wisdon and touched by angels. The experience may change your life. Other activities are abundant such as: trap/skeet shooting (offered to groups of 10 or monmre roomnights), horseback, pony trail rides, hiking, mountain biking, fitness center, excercise studio, outdoor pool, whirlpool and tennis to mention a few. Bishop's Lodge is located just 3 miles from the Historic Santa Fe Plaza. Complimentary shuttle service is provided by the lodge at scheduled times daily. ... more   less
