My husband and I decided to take a road trip to Santa Fe. With a nine hour trip ahead of us we knew there was plenty of time to decide on a place to stay. We read reviews, checked out the websites, and did the pros and cons of each place we looked at. After an hour or so of deep contemplation we decided on Hacienda Nicolas. It was a great decision. Immediately after calling the reservation office I got a confirmation text (I was asked my preferred way of communicating with them) and shortly afterwards I got a text from Carolyn the owner letting us know the breakfast menu and asking what time we’d like to eat. We were given explicit instructions on where to retrieve the room key as we had a late arrival. But Carolyn met us upon arrival and took us to our beautiful suite. The Nicholas. The suite has its own entrance leading from the small patio. There’s two other rooms off the patio and several more inside the building that is adjacent to the patio. Because of Covid the dining room Inside that building was not in use. The weather was perfect in late July for outdoor breakfasts and for enjoying the late afternoon wine and cheese that Carolyn provided. The Hacienda is within walking distance to the plaza and to many restaurants. We never needed our vehicle if our plans were to visit the shops, restaurants, or tourist attractions near the plaza. It is far enough away from the street that is very quiet. Sitting on the secluded, beautifully landscaped patio made for a very relaxing getaway.

We have been to Santa Fe many times - and over the years have stayed at one of the three Inns several of those times. This time we stayed in The Chamisa Suite - a wonderful king sizes super comfortable bed and wood burning fireplace. This was so relaxing. The afternoon glass of wine is a nice social where you can chat with other guests about their day and lives. Breakfast is always a treat - nice Santa Fean touch on the entree items - our last morning we had to leave before 8am so missed the entree, however we were able to have some yogurt/homemade granola and fruit. The nice part about being a return guest is that they offer a 10% discount which is very welcome. While it is not inexpensive to stay here - it is a treat and everyone who works with Carolyn is knowledgeable, hard working, dedicated and seems to really enjoy being there. Location is perfect - we like to walk everywhere so leaving our car parked most days is what we enjoy. This time we had a massage at the spa for additional relaxation (reviewed separately).

First - what a friendly staff! Every person we encountered. That goes a long way. The location cannot be beat. Walking distance to everything but quiet and on a sweet street. Lovely living/breakfast room. Snacks all day. Delicious breakfast that is casually served. The outdoor space is lovely and like another room. . Our room was cozy and comfortable, had everything we needed and the price was excellent! Ultimately it was the attentive and friendly staff. I hadn’t realized I left my leather jacket in the closet and they contacted me right away and we arranged for retrieval. We will definitely return. Thank you so much!
