I've been traveling to Japan for over 10 years so am very well acquainted with the Japanese Onsen. Ten Thousand Waves is about as close as you can get to that experience outside of Japan. Just loved it for the ambiance, attention to detail and commitment to being like a Japanese Onsen. Well done!!

We had an absolutely relaxing and delightful two-night stay at Ten Thousand Waves, staying in the Hangetsu room. The decor and grounds are beautiful. The views are breathtaking. The spa is first rate -- we loved our Shiatsu massages and private hot tub. Unlike other reviewers, we didn't have any problems with loud children or large groups by the communal pool,... More

Over the years I have been to several of the various rooms they have available. They are all beautiful and have a fantastic vibe and would recommend each of them, based on your needs. They allow your well behaved pet, which is a bonus. They allow use of the public tub too. It is a tranquil environment and is a... More

We stayed at ten thousand waves for my birthday, and had the full experience with private spa/sauna, lodging, and excellent omakase at Izanami. The attention to detail to make this a peaceful, relaxing experience was amazing. I loved walking around in Kimonos and the staff at both the hotel and spa were extremely accommodating. They even asked what size dogs... More

We were in town for the week and couldn't get into the other spa in the area, so we called here. We were able to get in, that day for a couples massage, which was great. Everyone was friendly, and the massages were good. The massage therapists were compitent and respectful. The main problem is that- this place is a... More

Angella I'm glad you enjoyed your massages. We pride ourselves on being inclusive, not exclusive. Two of our pools are communal and are modeled after the great onsen spas of Japan. In fact, most of the spa cultures of the world--Japan, Korea, Europe, Russia, Finland, Mexico, Chile--focus on the social nature of the bathing experience. That said, we realize that... More

Ten thousand waves is a very special place. But on this visit, in addition to several barking dogs and a crying baby, there were several families with children. It changed the whole vibe of the spa and lodging facilities. I'm even a bit of a prude but I liked full nudity if it meant no children. The lodging options are... More

We wanted someplace to stay that was adults only and relaxing with the long trip we were taking. We stayed in the Moonlet retreat house and it was beyond our expectations! Between the patio, fireplace, and kitchenette it was awesome! We also rented our own private bath and enjoyed that. We very much enjoyed the communal pool and relaxation room... More

Loved the lodging at 10 Thousand Waves... Comfortable and well equipped. Next time, we will bring our own dinner supplies.. The kitchen is well equipped and they even had an outdoor grill with utensils. Don't be scared off by the small granola breakfast. It was tasty and surprisingly filling

Spent 3 nights during spring break as a family of four (with two kids). The resort is somewhat spread out over a large space, and the rooms are strategically placed so you don't really look out to others, ensuring privacy. However, some suites are close to the main gravel road that leads up to the spa, and it's a very... More

I go every year for my birthday to this wonderful place. this year we got the large private hot tub with its own dry sauna. The only thing thing that was missing was a butler with wine and cheese. Absolutely love it ..I would be there all the time if I lived in Santa fe
