We are staying here this week, and we will not be back! There have been several issues that have been very frustrating and disappointing. The pool area is dirty and ant infested because no one is sweeping the food off of the ground. The rooms, main hallways, casino, etc are hot. We moved rooms because the air conditioner wasn’t working; room temperature was 75 degrees. Our new room has only cooled down to 70 degrees. The people that work here (from the front desk to wait staff) are not friendly. In fact they act as though they are being inconvenienced by having to deal with customers at all. The women working at the “Starbucks” have absolutely no clue how to make the simplest drinks. The restaurants are closed, making getting something to eat very inconvenient because you have to drive into Santa Fe or Espanola for food. They charge resort fees for a Motel 6 experience. We are totally disgusted.

This “resort” is anything but that. There are very few amenities open. Restaurant service was horrible and the food selections were just poor. We came down to Buffalo Thunder after a wedding in Taos. We wanted to stay close to Santa Fe but wanted resort style rooms. After a family recommendation we checked in to Buffalo Thunder resort. We ate at the lackluster Red Sage signature restaurant. It was small plates. No real dinner. No real staff. We enjoyed some time by the pool which was nice, but there was no food/beverage service by the pool and the hottub was closed. No problem. We then went to our room and our kids went to theirs. Each room was 75 degrees. No problem. We will turn the A/C down. Expected it to do its job and sweated all night in bed as it never cooled the room down. Same problem with the kids room. I woke up went downstairs and bought a coffee at Starbucks. I then proceeded to head down to the conference room center where the A/C apparently worked in the resort to drink some coffee, decompress and read the days news. NO HUMANS WERE EVEN AROUND. That’s when security guard Sandoval decided to harass me about my mask and pulling it down every time I took a sip. I get away from people in the morning for some “me” time before meeting the demands of the day. Sandoval made sure to take the quiet joy of my morning away with his persistent badgering about my mask although I was completely alone, and fully vaccinated. I mentioned the A/C to the front desk and they sent an engineer to both rooms and the problems were not fixed. We came back from our day at Santa Fe to find hot rooms again. They changed our rooms to ones that were even hotter with no working A/C. We cut our losses after the first night of our 5 night stay. I don’t want to be badgered about my mask, don’t want to sweat in my bed, and don’t want to be left on a deserted island of no real restaurants or amenities. The manager Jason was kind enough to check us out and comped our 1 night stay for both rooms. Thank you Jason. I just don’t think the hotel security team, engineering or upper management has the guests best interest in mind.

Room Tip: Call to make sure EVERYTHING is open and working. Staff said A/C had been a problem for a while.

This place is absolutely horrible. Been on a road trip for 10 days and 7 have been at Hilton hotels and have to tell you this is the worse. Even worse than embassy suites. Check in is at 4 rooms are not ready. They tell us the will text us when they are. We get back and they still are not ready. Amanda was the best. But still not room until 6. Then we go to eat and it’s like a monkey screwing a football. The worse. Don’t eat at the hotel. The Casio is worse than a monkey screwing a football. The have all these screens up and they ask me to put a mask on and I say I don’t have one. The pit boss asked me to get one at the cashier and I’m in line and the monkeys (security) asked to put one on. I told them the out boss asked me to get in this line to get one. That why in in line. I promise it was not for my health. Then started to tel me that I can’t gamble. Cool. I don’t care I’m there to kill time. There loss not mine. I just had a few hundred to lose. Then they (5 monkeys) follow me to the elevator as I give them a number of how much a care (the bird) this place is out of the way and not worth the drive out of Sant fe. Get a hotel closer to town and make it worth your while.

Expedia messed up our bookings a different hotel and this was their attempt to remedy and “upgrade”. If this happens to you and you are sent to a casino against your will because it’s the only thing available then make sure you don’t get the pity room which was next to the elevator the ice machine and a view of the air conditioning unit. I would’ve changed rooms had I not been with someone with mobility issues. The beds were fantastically comfortable. The staff friendly. But that’s about it. The lighting is crazy and of course the pandemic doesn’t really allow for a full experience of dining and leisure activities.
