This is so unique. Historical building. Extremely clean. So unusual and room was beautiful. If steps are a problem ask for main level. If not, room 7 is the best! Huge!! Lots of windows in this suite. Milles for breakfast or lunch is great. French toast a must. Will definitely stay here again!
This is a unique and amazing place to stay. Each room has a different layout and features. Overall, the rooms are beautifully decorated in Santa Fe style. Ours had a super comfy bed, refrigerator, leather chairs and footrests, desk, Wifi, balcony, and spacious bathroom with double vanity. Thus us a privately owned boutique hotel with a great staff working hard to make us feel welcome and comfortable. The restaurant and piano bar are under renovation so they provided vouchers to a nice French restaurant, Mille, just across the street. This hotel is tucked away close to the square. It's walking distance to museums, historic sites, the shops and restaurants along Guadalupe street, and the farmers market. Lots of great restaurants just a short walk away. This is not a fancy lux hotel chain. It's a small business with lots of character. Step away from the big wigs and have an experience. …
I've been coming to Vanessie for years, I've seen it decline rapidly. My stay in February was my last attempt to give this place a chance. The restaurant and bar are closed and currently being used as storage, open for everyone to see the clutter and disarray. The grounds have "stuff" everywhere. It's bad enough that the restaurant and bar are closed but to operate a unique hotel like this in the neglectful condition it's in and to continue to charge the prices and additional fees is ridiculous. My advice to potential customers? RUN!
Once upon a time this was a nice hotel, but over time it has now become “The Inn at VaMessy.” Here’s what you’ll get: An army of endless black ants, an old noisy heating/cooling system to keep you up at night, uneven floors, holes in the walls, loose faucets, clogged up sinks, tv remotes that don’t work, doors that don’t close properly, dirty stained rugs, chairs with dirty greasy arm rests, and finally, peeping perverts through curtains that don’t close well enough. You should stay at another hotel that cares well enough for hotel upkeep and guest privacy. You’ve been warned.
I'm pretty easy going and very rarely write negative reviews. The rude behavior of the Manager put me over the top in this case. Booking the Vanessie through Expedia led to billing problems that could not be explained to me at check-in. The young lady was trying hard, but didn't have the answers I needed. The following day, the Manager was rude in answering questions. He acted like it was a problem to provide answers. The issue was a "resort fee" that my receipt from the original booking said was paid, but the Manager insisted was not. What was it for? I guess for the closed bar ... closed restaurant ... and complimentary breakfast that was bought at Sam's Club. The toilet in my room was visibly angled and looked like it was falling through the floor. Tiles in the bathroom were broken. The mattress felt like it was worn out. The TV didn't have the usual cable channels. Although the property is in a decent location and has some potential, the Manager's unprofessional and rude behavior means I will never stay in this place again.…
The Inn at Vanessie charges $60 for a resort Fee. This is a waste of money…. NOT a resort!! How is it that businesses think they can get away with false advertising? If you make a Reservation, just realize …. You will be disappointed…. Better than sleeping in a tent.
We recently filed a claim against Inn at Vanessie with the Santa Fe Better Business Bureau for false and misleading business practices. For starters, they show amenities on their website which aren’t even offered: there’s no restaurant, no bar, no fitness club. This is FALSE ADVERTISING to showcase products and services that aren’t even available – and haven't been for some time. Yet, they have the gall to charge an exorbitant $30 daily resort fee (I've read it's $35 now). We’ve stayed at many resorts over the years—Inn at Vanessie is no resort. It’s not even close. Besides the lack of amenities I already mentioned, there’s also no pool, no hot tub, no spa. As for the continental breakfast, it consisted of nothing more than sweet snacks bought at Costco or some other store. Here's a short list: Brownie bites, cake, cinnamon rolls, Cookies & Cream and Strawberry yogurt, and sweet granola bars. How about PLAIN YOGURT rather than the sugary options they put out? The only fresh fruit were apples that were soft and mealy. In fact, there wasn’t one eatable healthy item on the table, which meant we had to pay for breakfast out every day, which added to the cost of our vacation. Maybe this accounts for the many negative reviews found online lately. Essentially, Inn at Vanessie is charging guests for amenities that they cannot – or will not – provide, which is misleading and deceptive. On Oct. 19, I emailed the inn and respectfully asked for a refund of $120 for our 4-day stay, and there's been no response. There’s no owner to speak to and the managers on duty are no help at all. It’s shameful (and possibly illegal) that they continue to rip people off by being dishonest about their "resort" amenities, hence this review. They fail to acknowledge emails and don’t seem to care about customer service. Management’s indifferent attitude should raise a red flag for future travelers who are considering this property. We'd never stay here again or recommend it. You shouldn’t either, or you’ll regret it. …
We stayed here for two nights. It's close to the Plaza and some good restaurants. Things to know before booking: -The Restaurant and Piano Bar are closed, and have been for over a year. I couldn't find any mention of this on their web site. -The $35 Resort fee basically covers on-site parking and a continental breakfast. Very basic, but not bad. -Maintenance and upkeep of the property appears to be minimal at best We stayed in the Galisteo room. It was nice. We wanted to stay at a more rustic/pueblo style place, and this room fits the bill. However: -The room doesn't really match the photos I saw. -The TV didn't work for our entire stay. -The room (and other rooms we saw) included a giant swamp cooler in the middle of the floor. It worked, but it's an eyesore. -In the bathroom shower, the hot and cold are reversed. -It has a private courtyard and enclosed patio. This would be great, except the courtyard is overgrown and hasn't been weeded in months (judging by the trees growing under the table). It's probably been longer than that since the enclosed patio room was cleaned. I spoke with several managers numerous times. They seemed nice, but never apologized for anything or even asked how our stay was when we checked out. We won't be going back, and can't recommend it for the premium prices they charge.…
We booked the hotel Vanessa for 3 nights based on the information contained on the website. We entered our room (Sioux) via a dilapidated wooden staircase. The room was filthy and in need of extensive maintenance. We found a previous occupants food in the fridge and pills on the floor. The fireplace was thick with cobwebs and the bathroom was dirty. The rug was full of stains and sticky with dirt. In addition, the facilities advertised on the website (restaurant, piano bar, fitness centre) and the reason we had booked this hotel had been closed down. At no time before our stay were we told about this. We spoke to the manager who offered no apology or solution and so we checked out the next morning. He refused to refund the 2 nights we did not stay saying the 'the owner was in financial difficulties' as if this were a reason for the gross misrepresentation and the worst experience in a hotel we have ever had. We paid an extortionate $1,279.96 for a dirty one night stay in a hotel that has no facilities. I made a formal complaint by email, with 2 reminders to acknowledge this and to date (30th Oct) I have not received a response from the manager. I contacted the owner by email, followed by a less than satisfactory telephone conversation in which he accused me of exaggerating just to get my money back. It is clear that neither the hotel or owner has any intention of refunding my money. This hotel is a health and safety hazard and still gaining money by false representation.…
The good: hotel location, room size, bathroom size and quality, bed comfort. The bad: $30 resort fee when there are NO resort amenities. No restaurant, no bar, no pool, etc. why are they collecting a resort fee? Also, no one mentioned you have to request maid service. It isn’t even stated on a note in the room. Had to learn this by (bad) experience. The ugly: returned from dinner to find one side of our room had no power. Not tv, no heat, and missing half the lights. Went to office, but it was 8:30pm and the office was closed. A note on the door gave a telephone number for after hours support. I called it 3 times. Each time it rang multiple times and then went to voicemail, which was full. I scribbled an irritated note and was trying to wedge it into the office door when a guy walked around the corner of the building. I asked him if he worked there and he said yes. I told him my problem and told him that I was irritated about the lack of an answer and a voicemail option on the night number. He told me to “be more Godly.” He repeated this admonishment twice more before the situation was fixed. I’m NOT kidding. When I stared at him in incredulity, he told me to be nicer. He did not apologize for my situation or for the telephone number issue. He fixed my problem by flipping a circuit breaker. I later learned that he was the manager!!! I still can’t believe it.…
