We lived in Santa Fe for many years and go back to visit every few years.this was our first time at the EL REY. We had a king suite in the back courtyard. It was very quiet and there was a lovely fountain and tons of birds chirping. the room was comfortable and spacious and with just the fan on... More

If you are in any doubt about where to stay in Santa Fe, just stop now and book here. The El Rey has been around since the 1930s, is right on Rte 66, is a gorgeous compound with several buildings, a heated pool, courtyards, a sauna, an indoor hot-tub and an outdoor hot-tub, gorgeous native art everywhere and paintings of... This was our 2nd stay at the El Rey. The first time we booked through Hotels.com and got a teeny though charming small room. This time I called the darling lady at the front desk directly. She booked us into a suite and it was fab-fabulous! Huge, light-filled, with small patios outside the sliding doors (2 sets of doors with... More

We were in the area, buying an older vintage vehicle. We decided to stay at El Rey, as my boyfrend has been here before. Excellent service! It is very beautiful, pleasant, and serene. A large pool and hot tub are also on the property. We had a queen deluxe room and pictures will be included in later photo(s). If we... More

We have stayed at the El Rey Inn many times when we have visited Santa Fe. First of all, it is far less expensive than the pricey hotels in the plaza area, but you can still have a unique setting and experience. The El Rey consists of two authenic southwestern "Route 66" tourist courts that have been beautifully restored. Each... More

We stayed at the El Rey two nights and it was SO much better than a chain hotel in my opinion. The rooms were old but had character. The rooms were extremely clean. The Spanish style buildings and gardens were lovely. I wish we could have taken the El Rey on the rest of our trip :)

Everything good that we had read about this inn was proven to be correct. It is a beautiful example of south western architecture, it's spotless, an Audubon sanctuary within the city, big heated pool, two large hot tubs and the best breakfast we've had in years at a hotel/motel/inn. The service at breakfast is phenomenal with so many choices and... More

The value and charm cannot be beat. Comfy beds, easy access to old Santa Fe, two beautiful hot tubs, a decent pool, and secret gardens everywhere...this place is where I'll stay every time I visit Santa Fe!

Upon arriving at the hotel, having driven down Cerrillos Rd, we were a little concerned that we had 5 days booked at what initially appeared to be an overpriced hotel. The neighborhood wasn't very nice, with a car wash next door, and a used car lot across the sluggish, congested street. Traffic in the old run-down area was awful. Our... More

I have stayed at this gem annually for nearly twenty years, and I'm likely to again. However it's sad that it is losing its charm. The grounds used to be immaculate, the rooms spotless, and service that was responsive. Now the flowers and green house are gone, bushes are overgrown, the carpets are dirty, and the wireless internet is spotty... More

We receive terrific comments on a daily basis regarding our extensive gardens and flowers as well as the grounds in general with all of the patios, secluded walkways, fountain areas, and shady grass areas where often one will be reading or visiting with fellow guests. Our gardens are certainly our "signature" for our historical southwestern inn. El Rey takes pride... More
