My wife and I stayed here for two nights as part of our Route 66 travels. We selected El Rey from the many reviews on Trip Advisor and were not disappointed. Staff were fabulous and extremely helpful. We were allocated room 12 which actually had two bedrooms. This is an old hotel built probably back in the 40's and has... More

Original little motel just off Route 66 which is very quirky. Has been renovated, especially the bathroom. Small but functional and served the purpose for us as we just needed a bed for the night. This is not a modern hotel but is was a lot of fun. The check in staff were excellent.

It's old and they've done everything they can to make it comfortable without turning it into a La Quinta. Definitely charming grounds (we stayed mid August 2016) and overall authentic. If you want a 5 star, luxury or spa experience this is not for you. This is a place to stay if you have things to do in or around... More

This is a tough review to write as I really want to give it a better mark. I'll start with the good. The location is great, staff is friendly, grounds / pool are beautiful and the decor is excellent. The big problem I had was with the room itself. It was so small, uncomfortable and stuffy. The photos on their... More

Our room, like just about every room at the El Rey, was charming, unique, and very comfortable. We had a nice patio with a table and chairs for socializing and partying with our relatives. The rooms are quiet, comfortable, and clean with all the amenities one might need on vacation including good internet, workout facilities, hot tubs and a pool,... More

This hotel used to be so nice. Stayed there for 2 nights with my daughter for a mini vacation. It was the worst hotel I have stayed at in a long long time. Our room was very old - which normally I don't mind- but this one had a bedcover that was worn thru and shredding. There were cobwebs all... More

I wish I could give two separate ratings on this property. For location, atmosphere, cleanliness, and friendliness, I'd give it a 5. For comfort, I'm afraid it would be a 1. We've stayed at the El Rey the last three years we've visited Santa Fe, and every time we ask ourselves why we keep putting ourselves through some of the... More

This is a older motel, but it has been restored and preserved nicely. The rooms are very small, but we had Room #8, which had a parking spot just outside of the room's door. However, only the rooms nearest the street have paved parking and my car got really dusty spending the night close to the rest of the parking... More

We stayed at the El Rey for two nights on a long road trip that had a Route 66 theme. This is an "old school" motel, but it is a beautiful place to stay and we couldn't have been happier with this choice! While not walking distance from downtown Santa Fe, the El Rey isn't very far and if you... More

We loved here. It is located in the city but as soon as you open the doors you are in another land. Detail, flowers and art are everywhere. I was greeted with a friendly welcome. The grounds were so beautiful I just would walk around looking at all of the detail. Our room was the most basic but it was... More
