One of the things that attracted us to the Kirk House was the pleasing design of this historic 1907 home. It was build 2 years before Friday Harbor became a real town! The interior of the home is as charming as the exterior, which added to the pleasure of our stay. Steve and Renee were excellent hosts and good cooks as well. Our breakfast meals (I could eat the breakfast parfait every morning) carried us through the day (almost) and the afternoon treats were a delight. When we needed to leave on a ferry before the usual breakfast hour, Steve and Renee made special accommodations so that we didn't leave the Kirk House and San Juan Island hungry. Very thoughtful. We would recommend the Kirk House for any type of trip to Friday Harbor.
We celebrated our 30 yr anniversary at the Kirk House recently and could not have been more pleased with our choice. Steve and Renee were wonderful hosts. The accommodations were great (we stayed in Veranda room), and they served us an amazing, hearty breakfast every day. Easy 5 min walk to downtown Friday Harbor.
Near end of season visit was very nice. The inn, hosts and local environs were just what we were seeking. Walking distance to the small downtown and ferry. 20 minutes to everywhere on the island by car. Orcas happened to be viewable at Lime Kiln Park, randomly fortunate.
Great house located walking distance to shops & restaurants on the harbor. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast and baked goods were delicious. Steve also offered helpful recommendations which assisted me in planning our trip to Friday Harbor. Thanks Steve and Renee we will be back 💥
Great time with sumptous breakfast, extremely comfortable bed, and relaxed homey surroundings. Our room, (the Arbor) had a private outdoor table for dining and whatever but we decided to dine in the main dining room with our other vaccinated guests. Though an older home (built by industrialist Peter Kirk of Kirkland WA fame), the thinner walls were not an issue and our environs were quiet and restful. The bathroom was well appointed with a large hand held sprayhead and plenty of hot water. One item to be aware of: this (like most B&B's) is an older, historic home and there is no central air conditioning. To avoid stale air, we opened our french doors during the morning/evening and allowed the fresh air to waft in. We also opened our room door to allow air to circulate even more while we were there, feeling completely safe and comfortable at all times. Our hosts were exceptional, taking the timetoexplaineverything (including the Apple TV (so we could keep abreast of national/local news as well as watch our comedies and other interests. The location was excellent for us, being near downtownand within esay walking distance. Though we didn't use them, there are at least two modes of public transportation on San Juan island. Since we brought our car over via ferry, we were more easily able to access Roche Harbor and the two camps/national historic parks. However, bringing a car is NOT necessary if you don't mind walking aboout three city blocks to all of downtown.…
Steve and Renee were excellent hosts. We were a bit disappointed to have the sink in the bedroom rather than the bathroom (bath room had shower and toilet only). Pillows were in need of an upgrade, which Steve said he was planning to do. Hosts were very nice and welcoming. We were there with another couple who must eat gluten-free, which Renee was happy to accomodate.
We have stayed at the Kirk House twice in the last couple of years, and we absolutely love it. The owners, Renee and Steve are friendly, attentive and helpful. The breakfasts are delicious and we find ourselves looking forward to them each morning. Accommodations are very nice, beds and bedding are comfy- sleep like a baby when we are there. We will definitely stay there again!
If I could give this Bed & Breakfast six stars, I would. This was one of the warmest places I have stayed with incredibly kind and thoughtful owners and beautiful amenities. When we first landed in San Juan Island, my husband and I figured we could just call a cab to get the hotel. Turns out there are about three cabs total on the island, and all of them were booked. We called the B&B owner Steve to ask for suggestions on bus routes, and he instead hopped in a car and came and picked us up! When we arrived, there was such care that had been put into the extremely clean and well decorated room, including fresh lemon water, lotions and bath salts from the island's lavender farm, mini chocolates (new ones showed up everyday!), a tray for reading in the beautiful standing tub, and comfy waffle robes and slippers! The common spaces also had comfy couches, board games, complimentary tea and coffee and daily homemade baked treats that were delicious. The breakfast was equally delicious, and it was fun to interact with the other guests over a morning meal. The owners also left fresh coffee by our door each morning at 7am so we could enjoy a cup to start the day. Location wise, it's just a five minute walk to the bustle of Friday Harbor, but on a quiet street with comfy bedding and a cute porch if you need downtime. We were able to walk to the whale museum, the downtime shops, and plenty of restaurants. Do yourself a favor a book a stay at Kirk House!!…
Having stayed four days at the Kirk house bed-and-breakfast at Friday Harbor with my girlfriend was the best choice I made in my vacation planning to the San Juan Islands. The host, Renée and Steve were very gracious. The house is clean and well appointed and the breakfasts are delicious. A quick five minute walk puts you in the small town of Friday Harbor where there are plenty of places to eat. I would highly recommend this place to my friends and family.
Look no further than the Kitk House Bed and Breakfast for your most memorable stay in Friday Harbor. My husband surprised me with 2 nights in the Garden Room and it could not have been more perfect! The owners, Steve and Renee are all 'hands on' and the breakfast and afternoon treats were amazing! Easy walking downtown and close to restaurants, sights and whale watching boats. Thank you, Steve and Renee and we WILL be back!! Thank YOU!
