I love very old lodgings. My experience here was so much more than I expected. The room was immaculate. The pillows were wonderful and it was so quiet. Although the 2 bathrooms on floor 2 were shared, they were spotless. The shower took awhile to warm, which is typical of the older hotels. Our room had it's own sink, lovely towels, even a makeup remover face cloth. Lovely bathrobes. Well equipped with ironing board, iron, hairdyer. Window faced the harbor and a narrow deck with chairs was available outside our room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner in a historic dining room accross walkway. Wonderful food, excellent service, a little spendy.
Perfect stay for 2 nights in de old Hotel d’Haro. We loved the old atmosphere en de colors ceremony. Nothing has changed the last 35 years when I first came there and started to work in the restaurant as a busgirl. The restaurant is still very good witch great food and you gave the cafe at the dock for a perfect American breakfast.
This place is in a great picturesque location very pretty and scenic But that is it Checked in today, only one person on the desk and there was quite a line The female checking us in could care less about the customer A wet fish would give a bad name to fish She was as welcoming and helpful as a screen door on a submarine I would fire her now The unit we got was old , worn, smelt like dogs and was in ill repair There is no AC and they told us to just open the sliding glass doors but the screens were broken and bugs got in There was no ice, the Wi fi was molasses and no De caf coffee All for 370 bucks a night WHAT A DEAL Later went to the ONLY bar for a drink and because we were there at 8 30, we were treated like dirt, put in the corner of the restaurant bar reserved for dogs This whole ordeal was a total waste of money This is someone old condo that should be totally redone DO not waste your money here stay somewhere else…
3 week sailing trip fr the wife and I. Have been to some entertaining marinas, some fantastic marinas, and some less than desirable marinas. What can't be said about Roche Harbor? Like everyone else, travel has taken a backseat in life. But this year we decided to tour the San Juans, and gulf islands and get away for a break. In the past my wife Linda and I have visited more than some, and less than others, but this marina has to be our favourite over all. Sure there are quiet and secluded docks in Desolation Sound, and even more beautiful backdrops like the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, but if you're looking for an all around, good deal with great people and plenty to keep you busy off the docks, this is it. We will be back again this summer!
The historic resort is spectacular. Fine dining restaurants, pubs, coffee shops. Beautiful gardens, very impressive marina. I would have rated the experiance 5 except we wanted a one-bedroom condo and was assigned #119. The condo was clean and up to date except for the kitchen which has 20 years old countertops and appliances. Some of the outlets did not work as well, the fireplace was none functional, It appears that a lot of the properties are owned individually and managed by the resort, Suggest you call and make sure you get an updated unit.
My stay at the Hotel Haro at Roche Harbor Resort was a dream! From the moment I drove into the resort grounds, the views were spectacular. The hotel is right on the harbor and walking distance to the small grocery and casual Lime Kiln Cafe, as well as the more upscale McMillan's restaurant for perfect sunset cocktails and dinner. The whole of San Juan Island was beautiful, but I'm so glad I drove the extra miles to stay at Roche Harbor rather than the port city of Friday Harbor. It was so relaxed and just a complete respite from the busy few days I spent in Seattle. I can't wait to come back and explore the other islands!
Friday Harbor is great, but we enjoyed Roche Harbor even more. It was less crowded and more scenic. The town is super family friendly and dog friendly. We had a great meal on an outdoor patio right on the water, and saw some sea otters swimming around. Bocce ball and ice cream after the meal were fun and relaxing. Time is slower on the island. We hope to be back soon, and next time, we may stay at the Roche Harbor resort for a few days.
This place has the feel of the Hotel Del Coronado. The staff were gracious and super happy we were there. The grounds are gorgeous. It’s a true full service resort where there is a spa, fitness, marina, (if you want to use the kayaks, there’s a person to actually make sure you understand how to safely navigate and get you set up), spa, fitness center, grocery store and tons of cute little shops. The waiters and waitresses at the Marina restaurant were excellent. The food there was delicious: Chopped Salad and Fish Tacos a must try. The view is more of the marina, so not as scenic as Snug Harbor, but the resort delivers in every way.
This was a really cool area, marina, resort. They were so many boats. They were also stores and places to eat. Scenic. Photography fun. Dogs allowed on a leash. Boats also for sale. Places to rent. Well maintained. Beautiful atmosphere. Nice visit.

To start with the condo(unit 205) we stayed was very hot. It appears that the thermostat was most likely broken and we did not realize it till the last day. The room was overheated to a point that the fans were blowing hot air. The resort does not have any air conditioning for most of its units. The ceiling fan moved excruciatingly slow. The front desk advised us to open the windows and when we resorted to that the bugs starting moving inside the condo. The resort attracts mosquitoes due to standing water in the marina area. You better be armed with ample bug spray. The resort laundry facilities are dirty and the detergent dispenser is probably permanently out of order ans so are some of the other dispenser. Everything at the grocery store appeared to be priced at "Island price". The parking spaces in the condo are positioned in a way that your vehicle has a higher than normal probability of hitting a brush or worse hit another vehicle. Despite having a nice experience at the island itself this resort turned out to be a killjoy and it ended up devaluing it to a point where we are certain not to visit the island itself. So for future guests who travel especially at the peak of summer ensure that you try to get a unit with air conditioner, get ample amount of bug spray and make sure that you identify your supplies before hand and buy it in the mainland…
