#1 of 11 in Friday Harbor
2022 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best
GreenLeaders Gold level
Ready, set, slow™ Our boutique hotel is the closest to the ferry and harbor, yet so far away from ordinary. The right pace at the right time; The Island Inn at 123 West is as green as it gets. Dress us up or dress us down. You'll dig our contemporary style that nods to maritime gone by. Penthouses are fun for families, groups and splurges. They're big and nicely appointed with kitchens and plenty of elbow room. Sweets are as close to 'normal' hotel rooms as we'll get. Euros are small no-view sleeping rooms for guests 16 and up. All offer access to a shared living space Make a splash in a floatplane, slip in on the ferry or chart your own course. Get here and go with the slow. We're a partner of Stash Hotel rewards. That means you'll earn and redeem points at swanky places like the Island Inn and over 150 locations across the country. Reap while you sleep. Go with a different kind of Friday Harbor Hotel.

Everything was clean and nice. Reception was very friendly and informative. Beds were comfortable, the heat worked great with no noise. Extremely close to the ferry, restaurants, shops and the marina. They offered a mini breakfast as part of the room, which was a bag of rolled oats cereal, nice bowl of fruit (grapes, blueberries, strawberries), milk, juice and coffee or tea, which was good for my wife and I. The bathroom is unique in that the wall between it and the bedroom is frosted glass. Real nice, but there are small gaps allowing you to hear things, so it 's best to be familiar with each other. Plenty of sunlight through the frosted glass windows to the outside, allowing privacy and light. It's advertised as no view, but you can see the ferry when it comes in from the room through a part of the window that is not frosted over, so there is a bit of a view. They had space in the garage for our bikes, which we rode across for a nice ride the next day, otherwise vehicle parking would have been extra. Overall, a very nice stay and highly recommended.

Hotel's Favorite
Spent 5 days in one of the penthouses, and it was the ideal home base for a local getaway. It’s a challenge these days to be responsible in doing our part in limiting the spread of coronavirus, yet also supporting local businesses and economies, yet also findings ways to maintain one’s mental health with much-needed vacations. We will all be trying to navigate this for the next few years, and I think Island Inn has done quite well. The penthouse was sparkling clean, and social distancing was taken very seriously by staff and guests. We brought our own groceries, and the kitchen was well stocked with utensils and some thoughtful touches like oatmeal, milk and fruit. Several surrounding restaurants are offering take-out, and some places are even open for dine-in (at a reduced capacity, or just outdoor seating). From the Inn, it was an easy jaunt by ferry (the landing is almost on the Inn’s doorstep) or car to more isolated places to hike, bike, and rejuvenate the mind. I would highly recommend the Island Inn at 123 West for a conscientious and comfortable stay.

Elegant, beautifully appointed and designed penthouse with a spectacular view. The modern interior is immaculate. The staff were exceptional in every way, before during and after our stay. It’s worth every penny of the fees. We plan to return again soon.

My husband and I were in the San Juan Islands for the first time and we were very happy with the selection of the Island Inn to spend our two nights at Friday Harbor. It is a contemporary hotel, we got a studio which was very spacious and comfortable, the location is perfect in the heart of town and across the street from the harbor, easy to visit all the attractions in the island and short drives to all the parks and trails. Service was also outstanding. Would highly recommend it and would certainly stay again.

We were fortunate enough to stay in the #6 penthouse at the Inn. Steps from the ferry, secure garage for the car, incredibly spacious unit with all the amenities you'll need. Plus, just walk up the stairs and your on a private rooftop patio. After dinner it affords excellent views of the harbor - Pretty much the highest perch in town. Staff is very attentive and friendly. A/C was excellent when needed, many wide windows great for letting in a cool breeze. Decor was modern, but not stark. Everything looked spotless and new.
