About
Description
All of our 17 cabins and three suites are spacious with beautiful interiors, expansive glass, vaulted ceilings, full kitchens, and uninterrupted, stunning views. Snug Harbor's incredible setting is More unparalleled on San Juan Island. Arriving by boat is always an option, since we have our own private marina. We are perfectly located for adventures throughout the islands. Once you arrive and explore the resort, you will discover the unique features, comforts, and amenities provided to each of our guests. We strive to make each guest's visit amazing and memorable. We offer four paddle boards, two kayaks, canoes and bikes for the complimentary use by our guests. Our own Mitchell Bay Coffee is open daily offering an array of coffee beverages, local pastries, waffles, soups, and more. And if you are looking for somewhere to host an event, our new events room with seating for up to 50 is now available. When you come to Snug Harbor be ready to detach a little. This is an ideal place to unwind and relax (while we have free wi-fi throughout the property and great cell phone reception, there are no phones in the cabins). Allow the peace and serenity on Mitchell Bay overtake you. We believe our guests have said it best. One recent Trip Advisor review stated "This place is truly paradise" and our favorite Facebook post simply stated "The cabins are epic". Less

We're just back from a 3-day winter getaway at Snug Harbor & wish we were still there! The resort really delivered. It's situated on a quiet cove chock full of water fowl, river otters and harbor seals. Our cabin was clean, comfortable and well appointed. After arriving early on

I'm so glad you had a great stay, Eric! Winter time is wonderful on San Juan Island! Tourism is light and wild life is plentiful! And it must have looked even quieter with the marina empty during your stay. We just replaced the entire marina dating back from the early sixties with brand new state-of-the-art (environmentally speaking) docks, pier, and ramp. The boats have not yet returned to the harbor as we have not completed the electrical work. So it'll look a little different on your next visit, but it's always relaxing and peaceful at Snug Harbor.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Snug Harbor Resort for a long weekend. We were visiting my Sister-in-law in Friday Harbor and she picked the Resort. I didn't read any reviews or even look on the website, I just booked the 2 bedroom cabin and showed up.
We had several

Thank you for such a great review, Lindsey and Mark! And thank you for mentioning the opportunity to go horseback riding; I bet a lot of travelers would love to know that is available on island. Come back, bring your friends :) We'd love to see you again!

We were on a weekend getaway with our infant and his grandparents. The 2 room suite right on the water was a wonderful relaxing place for all of us. We made use of borrowing the kayaks, the communal fire pit on the lawn, the DVD borrowing. This place was serene, gorgeous, and

I'm so glad you had a wonderful time! This October has been so stunning at Snug Harbor with the fall colors and crisp yet mild temperatures so we can enjoy the outdoors to the fullest and still cozy up by the fire in the cabins with movies in the evening. I love hearing about triple generations enjoying the property together!

We rented a 2-bedroom cabin and it was beautiful. The large windows overlooking the bay gave us a beautiful view of the Fall colors and the bay itself. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the beds were comfortable. Will definitely stay here again.

Thank you, Kristen, for the wonderful review. If your crew swells in number, remember we have a great events room available for rent to facilitate big groups, including a fireplace and full kitchen. There are many great caterers on the island to make entertaining effortless. Family reunions at Snug are super fun when all the guests are family and friends!

I noticed you list your property as wheelchair friendly. I utilize a mobility scooter when walking any distance and have difficulty with stairs. Do you have an accessible cabin, and, if so, what is the bed situation in the cabin? My husband and I are both in our early 70’s and would like to spend a few days in the San Juan islands next June.
All the waterfront cabins are ground level with no stairs, just a little bump to get onto the front doorstep and then over the threshold. Cabin 10 is ADA, though there isn't much clearance on the sides of the bed for a wheelchair. There is a fine gravel driveway (emergency access vehicle only) that leads down the front of the cabins to the main building that houses the ground level lobby, giftshop, and coffee shop. Along the waterfront there is a smooth bricked path that runs from the parking lot to the main building. I think knowing these things and looking on the website you will be able to understand the layout better. I think you will be able to move around the property pretty easily.

Hi, Is there whale watching in October? We plan to arrive on 10/21, for a few days. Thanks!
There can be Whale sightings in October. We had a family reunion of 68 people the last weekend of September and every one got to see whales at all different times throughout the weekend from Lime Kiln State Park, a short drive away.

Hi, we are looking at the resort for a vacation in October. What are the dining options? I don't really want to cook while on vacation. I believe we'll be driving/ferry from Seattle, so we can drive. But the resort looks like it's on the far side of the island. I want to make sure we have dining options. Thanks for any info!
On property there is Mitchell Bay Coffee, which offers pastries, Umqua Oats, Belgian waffles, and gourmet coffee drinks. There will also be a pot of soup on at lunch time. In our store we do offer some easy things to take back to rooms and prepare in the full kitchen with a minimum of effort, like Beecher's Mac and Cheese. Duck Soup Inn is about 8 minutes away, Roache Harbor is about 12 and they have Lime Kiln Cafe with burgers, sandwiches, and breakfasts, as well as Madrona Grill with good bar fare (including some healthy options), and The McMillan Dining Room, which is a traditional northwest restaurant. Friday Harbor is about 18 minutes away and has many more options and styles of food, from Thai to brewery. I hope that helps.

Celebrating a special anniversary, what is the nicest 1 bedroom cabin. Also, is there anywhere close to rent mopeds or a car?
There is a car rental in the town of Friday Harbor but you will never be able to get around the island on a moped. They do have rentals though but for a few hours.

Is there wifi in cabins? I just read a review that said there was no internet, so I was curious. Thank you!
We definitely have WiFi and we are happy to tell everyone that by summer we will have fiber optics to the resort. The ditch was dug and conduit installed last week. We have had our conduit in place for a long time to bring it down from the road. Once installed the slow "island" wifi and internet service will be a thing of the past.
