My wife and I took the ferry over from Anacortes after work and had a wonderful two-night stay at the FHH. The hotel is a very easy drive from the Ferry Terminal, only a couple blocks after you disembark. The building and premises are very tasteful and classy, and offer a very intimate setting. The view from our room of Friday Harbor was captivating, and gazing at the marina from our cozy quarters made for inexpensive entertainment. Greg and his staff at The Restaurant at Friday Harbor House provided an amazing meal and created a wonderful dining experience. I wish our stay was longer, but in the words of MacArthur, "I came through and I shall return."

Thank you so much for your kind words. There's nothing quite like watching the ferry come and go from the bluff. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here and we look forward to seeing you again! Thank you for taking the time to share and recognize our team.

My husband and I snuck away here for an overnight retreat before Christmas. I cannot say enough good things about how well we were treated.

We received a text message the morning of our stay, asking what time we planned to arrive. We were offered hot coffee, tea, etc as we checked in. Despite being a bit early, our room was ready and we were able to get all of our items in before venturing out for the day. the two women at the front desk were extremely warm and kind.

Upon entering our room, I was immediately drawn to the beautiful bay views. We had a small balcony with a bistro set where we could drink tea and watch the ferries come in and out of the harbor. It seemed two rooms on each floor had these balconies and I’d highly recommend a request if they’re available!

The room itself was very clean. The bed was comfortable and my pillow-picky husband was even impressed with the quality. The bar area was stocked with actual fresh ground coffee, tea, quality bottles of wine. There was also an in-room small refrigerator for convenience. The ice machine has pebble ice which was also a happy surprise. We loved the cozy remote-controlled fireplace and took advantage of that while cozying up to admire the boats in the marina lit up with holiday lights. Since this was a rare opportunity for my husband and I to sleep in away from our toddlers, I appreciated the black out curtains that were very effective.

But one of my favorite parts of our stay was the food! We’d taken a trip out to the Lime Kiln lighthouse to hie around (and even spotted some humpback whales from the shore!) and got a message that hot cider and cookies would be served during the hotel’s hospitality hour. We were glad to have gone back, because the chocolate chip cookies were delicious. One of the employees offered to light one of the four fire pits for us to enjoy our treats outside. Despite being slightly chilly (we’d been offered blankets too), it was such a treat to be able to relax outside with such an incredible view.

Breakfast the next morning included fresh fruit, yogurt, a delicious vegetarian quiche, and incredible pastries with some of the best flake I’ve ever had! There was a fantastic mix of sweet and savory. Overall, we were extremely impressed with the flavor, quality and selection. The cherry on top was being able to enjoy our breakfast at a sundown seat looking right out on to the water.

The location of the hotel is within walking distance to most of the shopping, restaurants, and amenities of Friday Harbor. I’d recommend a car if you plan to visit the lighthouses, but even those are a short drive. We even finished all of our Christmas shopping at the toy store around the corner from the hotel.

Overall, I can’t recommend this hotel enough. We felt truly spoiled and loved every minute of our time there.

My husband and I visited in early January 2022. The hotel and Friday Harbor are very quiet this time of year, and it was a lovely stay. We were in a Harbor View room, and the view was wonderful. The room was comfortable, large, and made cozy by the easily-operable electric fireplace. Great bathroom with good counterspace, nice tub, and large shower. The downstairs staff was accomodating with additional towels and coffee one day, and with full room servicing upon request. The coffee and tea downstairs were always available in the AM and early afternoon. When we fretted because of a ferry issue, the front desk staff was quick to put our mind at ease by offering that they weren't too busy the next night and could hold our room for a few hours while we waited to see if we would be able to leave as planned that day. It was a great peace of mind. Would definitely recommend this hotel - top notch!

Hello! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with such kind and thorough feedback. I'm so glad you enjoyed the coffee/tea station, jetted bathtub, and fireplace. We know the ferries are daunting at times, especially lately with all of the crew shortages and high tides interrupting the schedule. Thank you for your flexibility and patience with it! Cheers, Molly P and the Team at Friday Harbor House

Cant beat the location, room was smelly and loud on the ground level. get an upper room and make sure there is no septic smell and the carpets are cleaned otherwise you'll be smelling it while trying to sleep. Frie place off gasses and you'll have to air the room out.

Rooms were overpriced (500-600 a night) given lack of amenities. Don’t upgrade to the partial view suite..it faces a busy street/parking lot and gets loud, and the air conditioner is in the separate living room so you don’t get any fan/cooling for the bedroom. Hotel has a patio that faces nice harbor views but closes early at 9. Ordered room service for dinner because was told it’d be an hour long wait to be seated even though there were a lot of empty tables. Food was sadly mediocre for the amount we spent (plus 21% service charge). Halibut was dry and over cooked, with no sides, but cost more than $30. Crab risotto was under seasoned and tasted only like dill. Only selling point is the convenient location to the harbor and the in room jacuzzis..which just barely fit two average sized adults, so anyone larger will have to take a solo bath. The in room chemex was a cute idea..but it’s literally the most tedious way to make coffee in the morning. It was our anniversary and we were okay with splurging a little, but would save our money next time.

I generally don't often review hotels, but I had to submit a review of Friday Harbor House. It is a great little hotel! The rooms are very nice and well-stocked with high-quality products, and throughout the room we had everything we needed for our stay. The restaurant/lobby/patio space are so beautiful, and the food was excellent. However, what sets this place apart from almost any other hotel I've ever stayed in is the hospitality. It was exemplary. Every single person we crossed paths with was incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating - I mean at a level that is above and beyond. I truly cannot recommend this place enough, and I cannot wait to return again someday!

A few days before we arrived we learned that the dining room was closed on Wed/Thursday.  We arrived Tuesday afternoon so had to find other options for breakfast during our stay which one does not expect when staying in a hotel with dining room. To add insult to injury, a group that was staying at the hotel was served breakfast but the other guests were not.  If you are going to open the kitchen for a group why not open for everyone.  This was the height of poor customer service. Our room #34 was an odd room.  From the bathroom you were able to look into the room via the opening in the wall next to the tub.  Did not like the lack of privacy this created.  If one person was sleeping and the other wanted to use the bathroom sink, the lights and noise went right into the bedroom.  The room did have a great view but no balcony to sit out and enjoy it

We didn't get to stay. We were contacted TWO days prior to check in to be told there would be no rooms available. I appreciated the kindness of the caller but I do believe the management team could have offered something much more than "we're sorry." I had booked a full day sailing charter for Monday and had so many plans lined up with dinners, etc., hosting friends that flew in from North Carolina. If you all were going to overbook your property hoping phase 3 would come about, it should have been much earlier that you contacted those of us who had no idea this was an overbooking. If a guest was to cancel two days in advance, I am guessing it is unlikely we'd get a refund.

Bottom line…for $600+ a night, we expect air conditioning. Not a “swamp cooler/box unit”, but actual cold blowing real air conditioning that cools the entire suite. I don’t want to be hot for $600/night. It’s that simple. I don’t care that “no one has AC on the island bc you don’t need it”—we need it. We were warm & uncomfortable both nights. We tolerated it bc I’m aware of no other options.
I could stay in an all inclusive having every single need met for what we paid here. Think about that….
The hotel is lovely, although somewhat minimalist. The location is handy, but we overlooked a parking lot so the view wasn’t dazzling. I recommend ceiling fans, towel hooks, & central air conditioning. The staff were efficient and kind upon arrival.
I feel like I’m camping.

Good: great view from 'view room' on the 3rd floor, our view was of the harbor, location is within easy walking distance of everything downtown.

Bad: noise from people outside on the patio (even though restaurant was closed) was an issue; building is older, so walls are thin. On our first night, a drunk couple couldn't talk at anything less than a yell and slammed their doors closed - repeatedly. With no staff on site after 8 pm, that's an issue. While there is a night manager you can contact, that person is not on the premises unless needed. I also understand it's not the hotel's fault this couple couldn't handle their booze, but again, with no staff on premises, that's an issue. Bathroom is a little awkward with older (sticking shut) pocket door.

Overall, you're paying for the view, and for me overpriced - not likely to return at current rates.

I am sorry that Margie is not there. Megan is the new GM and she has been there a while. They are putting on a large patio with several fire pits. It is going to be wonderful. Megan does a great job and I am sure they will meet all your needs and make you feel at home.
