On a 8 Day Road Trip from Tampa to Texas and back the Omni La Mansion Riverwalk was our favorite, and we stayed at some amazing places in Austin too. San Antonio beats Austin here in this Road Trip showdown. Kind and considerate staff starting with Quincy in Valet a real Pro, and Tony and Victoria thank you at check-in. The private balcony suite with view of the mini waterfall below was Outstanding and we stayed for another night as a result. Omni La Mansion has a great story too with its history going back to the 1850’s and then as a college and famed place since the 1960’s. You’ll love the ease of access to the Riverwalk. Check out the historic and gigantic 200 plus years Twin Bald Cypress tree that stands south of the Commerce Street bridge near St. Mary’s known as the Sniper Tree a short walk away. No, you don’t need a river cruise to experience it. Also, Craft Drafts and wine/cigars a short walk before you get to the Sniper Tree Thank you Omni La Mansion…
My husband & I stayed here for 3 nights mid-December and loved every minute of it! We booked a king, riverfront with private balcony room and it was spectacular. Roomy, very clean, with an amazing view if the River walk. All the staff that we met were extremely gracious and helpful. We would definitely stay here again when we return back to San Antonio!
Every year we spend a weekend on the Riverwalk in December. We have our favorite place but I’ve always wanted to stay here. Now wish I had just chosen our favorite. I understand the COVID restrictions which in my opinion are over the top. We stayed in a king River view room. Room wasn’t very clean, and view was almost non existent. Huge palm tree in front of the entire (shared) balcony. I do not recall reading anywhere it was shared. Also, each morning the housekeeping staff is in the hall laughing and yelling down the hall to each other with no regard for guest still sleeping. Off and on you hear a loud roar from the building. Pipes or something. Since there are no accommodations for food you should pack like your camping. We ordered from Dash, as soon as they arrived they called me from the lobby to say they weren’t allowed up so they left it downstairs and the desk said they would call. No call, I called them to confirm and they acted like they didn’t know it was there. “Oh they must have left it and walked out” BS, I heard y’all in the back ground when Dash called me. I only waited a call not sure if they would bring it or I needed to get it. Not a good relaxing stay, won’t return when things are more normal. To me they have a shot now to offer exceptional service considering the low booking rate. But nope, unclean room with horrible view, loud housekeepers and loud next door guest. Disappointed especially with the high cost of the room. …
It’s hard to write a review during covid. We know the hotel industry is struggling. But here’s my honest opinion: Staff is very nice — especially Patrick, who valeted and transported luggage. He was a saving grace perhaps! When I checked in our assigned king ambassador room was on the first floor — a NO for me. The river walk is bustling on a weekend, even now, and loud. I just did not feel secure on the first floor. I was grateful to be moved up to the 4th floor. No restaurants are open in this property. At present you need to cross the bridge and go to Ostra, which is very good, but if you are looking for even a light breakfast you are out of luck inside this property. No in room coffee even. The hotel is offering coffee at the front desk, but they make it for you so if you are particular you are better off exiting the hotel at the front, walking to the corner and then turning right - then you’ll find a Starbucks (next to the Majestic Theatre). Just beware it is a magnet for homeless folks, which will tug at your heart. They’ll play on that and ask you for money. Our room was not serviced during our stay. They are asking folks to decline service during covid and the hotel will donate a meal to charity, but at over $400 a night I don’t decline service. I travel to have someone else make my bed and bring fresh towels, which I had to call for at 4 pm. I was not expecting a five star experience at this property but I also was not expecting the experience we had. As I said above, Patrick is the reason for the third star....I wanted to give it two. Is it covid or is this a typical experience? I’m not sure I would return to find out. There are so many options in San Antonio, all within walking distance to the landmarks.…
We booked this last minute because our cruise was canceled. I highly recommend this hotel. It was centrally located to many restaurants. Easy access to river walk. Very clean, staff was very friendly. We chose not to have our room cleaned. Because of us opting out of house cleaning. The hotel donates money to a charity. Walgreens was across the street if you need essentials. The TV was an upgrade to offer Google cast. You can screen share your mobile device to watch your Netflix or other streaming apps. On the TV. Room #742 was a shared balcony that over looked court yard. Was very quite, did not hear other guest even though the hotel was full.
