Nestled along the Riverwalk, the Hyatt Regency San Antonio is lauded for its cleanliness, with guests often highlighting the well-kept rooms and prompt service. Its location earns high marks for convenience, being a stone's throw from the Alamo and other attractions, though some guests feel that the added costs for parking and other services diminish its value. The hotel's vibrant atmosphere and modern amenities, including a rooftop pool, are frequently praised, but the experience is sometimes marred by noise. While the staff is commended for their friendliness, inconsistencies with room service are noted.

This hotel occupies a prime location overlooking the Riverwalk on one side and from higher floors on the other side the Alamo, just one block away. We stayed here twice, in late January on our way to Brownsville, then again in early February on our way back. On the way out our room overlooking the Riverwalk was large, clean and well equipped and on the way back our room overlooking the Alamo was similarly good but had a better view. The buffet breakfast was excellent but both times we had a problem with the billing for breakfast. We had opted for an offer that gave us breakfast for two worth up to $51 for a charge of $35. During our first stay the offer didn’t work at all, during the second stay we exceeded the $51 but the excess charge was higher than it should have been. Both problems were quickly corrected at check-out, but it is clear that this offer was not properly set up on the hotel’s billing system.

Flew in from Boston for a ten-day trip to Texas beginning at San Antonio International Airport and chose the Hyatt Regency San Antonio Riverwalk as our hotel. Why? Their Alamo View rooms. Are they a bit pricier? Yes. Is it worth the money to say you went to sleep with a great view of the Alamo and downtown San Antonio out your window? Absolutely. The proximity to the landmark that defines Texan independence was a major selling point and the way the hotel was designed, sitting right over the Riverwalk, was ingenious.

The rooms are clean, the air conditioning is effective, and the bar is staffed by very knowledgeable servers who were able to explain not only WHY they chose to include certain liquors in mixed drinks but where the best bars were in the city and why. The meals were excellent and the kitchen closes late enough (11pm when we went there) to provide access to food for knight owls who want to check out the city. The glass elevator opens up the view of the river flowing below the hotel, the modern art towards the back of the lobby (underneath the glass wall overlooking the city) is well placed and breaks up the dark flooring and the swimming pool at the top of the roof allows for one of the best views I've seen at a hotel. If you really want to relax, go bring your room keycard (it will be necessary to unlock the roof) and on a hot day just sit in their dark blue pool at listen to the world move beneath you.

The access to the Riverwalk is fantastic. My brother and I were able to leave at any time of day/night and simply take the stairs past concierge/check-in down into the Riverwalk area. At night, especially on weekends, they have music and food (a fun German bar is to the left of the stairwell leading down from the hotel) if you don't want to travel too far. We saw quite a few families here, so I'm assuming this was where parents felt comfortable bringing their kids. If you want to explore deeper into the city, fear not, the Riverwalk will take you as far as you like then will bring you right back to your hotel.

There are valet services if you want them, but the parking garage is across the street and to the left of the hotel's main lobby. It took us maybe five minutes walking to get there. Only slight negative is the music at street level is audible even ten floors up. So if you are looking for a minimum noise area you may want to take a different suite not facing the Alamo.

My girlfriend and I decided to take our first vacation together and stay on the Hyatt Regency on the Riverwalk. When we looked for hotels, I personally picked this hotel because of the amazing location on the riverwalk combined with the Alamo being around the corn and the convenience there being an included pool in the middle of a Texas Summer. I also selected a higher floor room not really knowing what to expect because....why not? With that in mind, I really wish I could give this hotel a good review.

Without saying more, the staff is amazing and the location is amazing as well. I had absolutely no issues with checking in, eating at the hotel restaurant and bar, or getting a response from the staff about any issues I was having.

What I did find to be an absolute let down was the state of the rooms for the price I was paying. With the High Floor rooms being about $300 a night when I stayed (taxes included), I would expect a room that has been properly cleaned and set up. I would also expect to receive a room where all appliances are working properly. However, what I did find was a room with the AC turned off (was later turned on after I with absolutely no problem), older used towels in the bathroom, appliances unplugged from unreachable outlets, a giant wine stain on the floor that was there before we ever got there, and what appears to have been old crusty snot on one of the walls. As you can imagine, my girlfriend and I were reasonably disgusted. To make matters worse, the AC didn't work at all the last night. The room got up to 78 at night, so as you can imagine, it was quite the sweaty sleep. Besides all of the previous points, I think that the rooms ultimately need to be updated and rearranged to look more modern. The color of the walls reminded me of an older hotel from the 80s and the interior design just didn't make much sense. The TV was in an awkward spot where you had to rotate the TV completely to the left to watch from the bed, or turn it completely the other way to view the TV from the couch. Either way, the TV would not rotate enough and you would need to watch from an angle, or sit at the edge of your bed and turn your head. However its just a TV and this was not a huge problem.

While my girlfriend and I still had an amazing time away from home in San Antonio, unfortunately none of that joy came from the state of our hotel room. If you'd like the best Riverwalk hotel, go somewhere else or wait 10 years for them to update their interior

This hotel is well situated on Riverwalk and the lobby is lofty and nice and the staff are trying their best. But they ruin the experience with a raft of policies that make it clear who's the boss--and it's not you.

You arrive to your room not to a free bottle of water, but to water bottles with little cards informing you they are $3.00 each unless you let them shake you down for a Hyatt membership while you’re here. The on-demand movie was $20.00. There is no complimentary coffee but you can pay $5.00 for a medium drip roast at the Starbucks in the lobby (where the line was so long I just gave up on the second day). The Do Not Disturb signs (which actually say “presently occupied” because, well, the word “disturb” might upset someone and requires a PC neologism, don’t stay on the doorknobs in any case.

The rooms on the inner part of the hotel look into the glass elevator and the sheer curtains don't give much privacy, so you get to offer a lil' free show to the guests unless you like closing the heavy drapes and blocking out the light.

The gym is pretty but was designed by a team of lawyers. No barbells or Smith machine. No dumbbells over 50 lbs. The stationary bikes have toe clips but no straps. We gave up and paid for day passes to the Golds gym nearby.

And most annoying...they don’t sell stamps and won’t mail a postcard and charge it to the room.

I wanted to like this place and it’s acceptable if you want a soullless corporate hotel that’s centrally located. But every little decision they make conveys how little they care about their customers and what a bunch of cheapskates they are. Not a fun stay.

While on my family vacation, I stayed at this location. The staff was courteous and the hotel itself was clean, however upon my arrival I was informed that I would have to pay an extra $38 dollars per day to park in the parking garage across the street, as the hotel does not have it's own area to park. This information should be told to the guest prior to the reservation being accepted, luckily I brought extra cash and was prepared. The rooms should also be cleaned more often, I stayed at this location for 7 days and my room was cleaned only once. Lastly the pool at this location is far to small for the size of the hotel, the pool was full to the point where it could not be enjoyed almost the entire time I was there. The current pool needs to be enlarged or another pool added to the other side of the hotel.

The room is in desperate need of an update. It appears very 1980's. Bathroom is way too small and not easy to maneuver. It's impossible to get in and out of the shower or use the vanity because a toilet is in the way of both. Showers should be installed, nobody uses bath tubs anymore. AC does not work correctly and the room is very hot at night. The room does not seem clean. We always bring clorox wipes and wipe everything down because housekeeping does not do a good job at all. Also there is a half couch placed right in front of the large window completely blocking the beautiful view and taking up too much room! Whose dumb idea was this? The room is super small as is, the half couch is unnecessary. Also no do not disturb placard for the door anymore. We were looking forward to eating the pasta buffet at Q bar but were informed it was discontinued last year.

Rude front lobby people. Did not get items requested. Had to go to front desk the next day after still not receiving the items requested and bring them to my room. Usually not a big deal, but for $300 per night you would think you could actually get the correct amount of towels for the number of people the room accommodates. Hotel does have a very good location and it was clean, though. But given the attitude of the front desk lady I encountered after not receiving items, I will NOT be returning

I spend hours preparing organic homemade baby food for our twins, they drink a special blend of oat milk & sensitive tummy formula that was ruined because the fridges were broken & the room was dirty, they need to trash the disgusting furniture and upgrade it. I brought my own cleaning supplies to clean and sanitize because of the pandemic of course and the towels were filthy after I finished. These rooms need shampooing (honestly for sanitation's sake scrap the carpet and get floors, it's easier to sanitize) and they need to thoroughly was the wash!

Customer Service was great when checking in and out; However we weren't given any information on breakfast or room service. Parking Valet was $49 per day which is fine but when asked to bring truck over to get stuff down we were asked to go ourselves to the garage across the street. Room and restroom was very clean! Both Room and beds were small (reserved a two bed for two adults and two toddlers). Reserved a Riverwalk View.. beautiful view but no balcony (my mistake for not double checking). Big Tv was nice but fridge was not working and phone was not working and no microwave; also AC was not cooling enough and we had it down to 66. Enjoyed the fact that you exit the hotel directly into the Riverwalk great restaurants around and inside the hotel. For a Riverwalk view listed at $229 I ended up paying $326.74 out the door including all taxes, fees and one day parking. Enjoyed our stay regardless but some things could of been better. Thank You!
