This hotel is a staple for conventions and is always crowded. Consequently, they are typically understaffed in critical areas such as bar, check-in etc. The cost is not cheap, especially when there are conventions.
I can't say enough wonderful things about my recent stay at the Grand Hyatt SA River Walk. The hotel is in a perfect location for work (if you have to be at the conference center, it's literally attached) or for pleasure (you are directly on the River Walk and super close to heart of all the restaurants and shopping. Tourist attractions like The Alamo are a quick walk. The food at the hotel was great, everything was very clean, and the staff are absolutely amazing! It was a great stay.
Robert at the front desk is professional efficient and knows the hotel well. Great easy location in city center. Easy walk to Alamo where the tour is free. I highly recommend and will stay again . Easy access to the river walk but must Uber over to pearl brewery
Worst Father’s Day ever !! $366 for a hot room . I still can’t believe I paid this for a hot room . We didn’t even sleep in like we wanted too . By 9ish we were gone . Manager was rude the garage guy was rude . Worst experience ever. We paid for a comfortable room with late checkout and we got rudeness in return.
Great location since I was attending a conference at the convention center. but my room was located 150 steps away from the elevator. You bet I counted it everytime I walked it. Good news is it added at least 1000 steps to my fitness tracker everyday since I made several trips to my room every day. The front desk carries no cash! I went down to break a bill so I could leave a tip for housekeeping and they directed me to the valet since they get cash tips. If you're there during the summer to go to a conference, go out the valet door by the baja rojos restaurant and into the doors that look like stained glass. It may be a few steps longer but you'll be in AC a whole lot quicker. It was record heat every day that I was there.
Lobby is always first impression. It’s only mediocre. This was Saturday at 4:00 PM (checkin time) and the place looked deserted. The lady who checked me in was very nice though. My room was ok. Got a king size bed and it was pretty comfortable. However, not sure why the bed is so high off the ground. That was weird. At first I thought the phone didn’t work. It’s an old fashioned looking portable phone that you have to turn “on” first. Oh! Couldn’t find the switch to turn on lights located at on each side of bed. TV actually had too many options. Cluttered navigation. Room was clean and bright. Small restaurant next to lobby was good but has a very limited menu. I only stayed one night so not sure about housekeeping responsiveness. NO ROOM SERVICE. Maybe that’s the norm now, but this was very disappointing to me. A hotel of this caliber should have some kind of room service. Hotel charged my card at checkin for room and parking. This was fine. This included $43 for parking. I checked out next morning online and left at 7:00 AM. When I reached the parking exit and scanned my ticket, was surprised with a $43 charge at the gate. Gate is automatic (no attendant) so if I hadn’t seen a hotel valet walking by, I would have had to pay another $43 to get out. He kindly let me out (after verifying my name and room number). As a whole, for the money charged, I was disappointed.…
Had a great stay at the hotel. The staff were professional, friendly and very accommodating to our needs. Appreciated the location near the convention center and access to the Riverwalk. Look forward to staying there again in the future.
Great location for access to the convention center. Great service considering the shortage of labor right now. Easy walk to Alamo and other attractions. Breakfast was always spot on, with my coffee cup never empty.
The staff at the Grand Hyatt are very friendly and professional. It is a great place to stay conveniently located adjacent to the Convention Center. Easy walk to several restaurants that offer a variety of different foods.
After having stayed at another "4 Star" hotel and being so disappointed I was completely satisfied with everything about this property. Great food options, fantastic bar, fantastic staff, and the view of the Tower of America's from my room as fabulous. Will definitely be back.
