I recently stayed at Hotel Emma during a business trip to San Antonio. Wow! What a cool hotel! The history of Hotel Emma is amazing as they actually give a history tour of the old brewery. And, upon checking in you can go into the library and enjoy a complimentary margarita. The staff are fantastic! I was upgraded to a river terrace room and it amazing. One of the most comfy beds I have slept in while on the road. There was a fireplace on my deck which came in very handy once the sun dropped down. We ate at Supper one night and had an amazing email. We also had adult beverages in the main bar which is something everyone needs experience. What most people don't know, nor did I before arriving, is the Pear. The Pearl is right out the front and back doors of the hotel is a really cool, and very local, district of restaurants, local stores - book, retail, etc. and a food court. They also have a music venue and a farm to table market that will be opening up in April. Best of all, there is a CIA (Culinary Institute of America) school within the Pearl. I have traveled quite a bit and have never come across an experience like Hotel Emma and the Pearl. If you are ever traveling to San Antonio I would highly suggest you stay and experience Hotel Emma.

This is one of the most friendly, comfortable, enjoyable hotels I've ever stayed in. One feels well cared for as if in a small hotel, yet with the amenities of a luxury hotel. Previous reviewers have commented on the staff, so I won't reiterate. For me the appeal of this property is the attention to detail and extreme excellence in design. This renovation has created a hotel that is interesting, large, luxurious, and extremely welcoming. There are so many spaces to enjoy sitting, reading, having a drink, and people watching. Examples are the lobby space, the outdoor sitting areas, the library, both bars, the rooftop pool, and the in-room balcony. Everywhere one looked was a design detail that was striking, yet appropriate. We were here for a week and continually marveled at how the old factory and equipment were woven into the architecture of this facility.

Going into the library for coffee in the morning is a real treat, as is sitting in the lobby in mid-day, and in Sternewirth Bar for drinks in the evening. Larder is a great little coffee shop with excellent choices for things to eat.

While here we ate meals in Supper, Southerleigh and Sternewirth. All were excellent and I'd go back to either in a second. We ate at Supper and Southerleigh twice each because there were so many things in the menus we wanted to try. This is unusual.

The location of the hotel is great. We had not been to San Antonio before, and didn't really know the lay of the land. As it turns out, we loved the Pearl District, and all the renovated buildings, proximity to the Riverwalk, shopping and restaurants. The plaza outside the rear of the hotel is filled with families and couples on weekends enjoying the farmer's market which adds a degree of vibrance to the area that was exciting.

An amenity that was particularly enjoyed was the omnipresent availability of good, complimentary coffee. One could order coffee to the room any time, or in the morning in the library, or during the day in Larder.

Our room was quiet, attractive, with adequate outlets, storage, bathroom amenities, minibar and comfortable bed. Blackout curtains worked well. Housekeeping was very good, and turn-down service included macarons every night.

The bellmen were exceptionally responsive and helpful. There is a hotel car that we used a couple of times, and that was a nice amenity.

So, overall, I can't recommend this hotel more enthusiastically and I would not stay anywhere else in San Antonio!

Upon reservation I had communicated that we would be staying at Hotel Emma for our wedding weekend. Although we did not get married at the hotel when we arrived there was a bottle of complimentary champagne courtesy of Megan and the concierge team. It was a wonderful way to arrive after spending 3.5 hours on the road driving to San Antonio. Then after the rehearsal and last minute preparations my fiance and I enjoyed our welcome cocktail quietly in the library talking and just letting all the stress of the day roll away. The next day I absolutely enjoyed getting ready in the room by myself. Everything was quiet with just soft classical music playing from the TV and the scent of lavender keeping my calm. I opened the curtains and sat at the table peacefully doing my makeup and getting ready. I didn't know what to expect the morning of my wedding to be like, I just assumed it would be stress and chaos and running late. But everything went so smoothly and calmly and I really do think it's because we stayed at the hotel. Even though I didn't call for room service that morning or really use any extra services just the atmosphere, the quietness, and cleanliness was so soothing. It is expensive but was well worth it for for a stress free wedding weekend. Thank you so much for making our wedding weekend one to remember.

We stayed at Hotel Emma in mid January, this hotel has been on my bucket list for years . I read countless reviews on the excellent service and how wonderful it is to stay there. We arrived on Saturday around noon and went to the front desk to check in. We were told by Roland who was working the front desk that our room was not ready, which we completely understood given that check in as at 3:00. We were wanting to drop our bags and maybe get a lunch recommendation or enjoy our welcome drink. Roland was rude and when I didn't leave the front desk immediately he repeated the room will be ready at 3:00. We were not off to a good start but tried to remain optimistic. When we returned at 3:00 we checked in and were taken to our room, the room seemed fine but later that evening when we returned from dinner there was incredibly loud music. I should have taken the ear plugs they leave on the bedside as a sign of a noisy room. I called down to the front desk and they offered to bring up a sound machine. Not exactly what I expected from a luxury property. The next morning we reached out to your travel agent and explained to her our experience so far and our desire to check out. She immediately reached out to the hotel directly. John the manager was going to reach out to us. When John reached out he did not seem real concerned that we were not enjoying our stay but after much discussion he agreed to try and find us another room. We were moved to the 6th floor which was quieter and larger than our previous room. However, the mini bar door was broken as well as the makeup mirror in the bathroom. We had breakfast both mornings, the menu is well priced and has a nice selection but they were out of several of the items on the menu. This hotel is in a great location and gets a lot of outside traffic, which makes it difficult to find a place to sit in the lobby and especially the bar. They do reserve an upper balcony for hotel guests but it is narrow and secluded from the fun part of the bar. We were incredibly disappointed with our Hotel Emma stay and have no plans on returning.

We are not wealthy, but we do save up to stay in the nicest hotels and resorts when we travel. We are so glad that we scored on this trip! We were treated like royalty from the minute the valet staff greeted us. Every single staff member remembered my name for all three days. Even the housekeeping staff greeted us warmly every time that we passed them in the hallway. We were constantly amazed at the polite and warm staff.

The hotel grounds and the historic buildings are amazing and beautiful We had a balcony room with an outdoor fireplace. The view of the river and the comfortable couch made it hard to leave it. The room has high ceilings and we never heard a noise from outside or the hallway. Thick walls and doors! The restaurants are top of the line and the room service was quick and complete. The staff made contact with me before our trip and ALL of my concerns and requests were handled 100%. The bar is a great place to people watch and the service/drinks were on point!

We just can't say enough good things about this property. I would name individuals, but the ENTIRE staff was on point and absolutely great !! Thank you for the wonderful anniversary weekend.

This is a wannabe Soho house in San Antonio. Although the hotel is cool and has great vibes, please be aware that you can hear EVERYTHING through the walls. We literally could hear crystal clear the conversations and “night activities”our next room neighbors were having. Very awkward. Also, you can hear the train pass like 4 times during the night. No wonder why they give you a sleep kit on your pillow with earplugs for noise. I would not pay the $600ish dollars (it may say $460-$480 a night but be aware of taxes!) Will definitely not return. If you want to charge these prices ramp up your customer service and put insulation in the rooms!

Wonderful hotel, look at staying here before you spend your money at one of the bigger resorts like La Cantera. Beautiful hotel with exceptional service. They really pay attention to small details that set them apart and make the higher rate well worth it.

This is a high end luxury hotel that is great for any special occasion. Not only are rooms luxurious but employees you interact with will make you feel special and welcome. The location is on San Antonio river but in an area that is not crowded like downtown although you can walk to downtown along he river walk. Keep this place in mind for special occasions.

I cannot say enough good things about Hotel Emma. The hotel is fantastic. The lobby is stunning. The decor , the ambience, the architecture. Every detail has been attended to. Built in the old Pearl Brewing compound. They have repurposed the facility to make a stunning hotel with all kinds of interesting structures from its bygone era . I spent an entire day just wandering the hotel and admiring the structure and taking advantage of the countless sitting areas . A very nice walkable area surrounds the hotel with eating and shopping options.

Our room (like the rest of the hotel) exhibited an attention to detail you don’t normally see. Tastefully decorates and cozy. Very clean and well maintained. We had a room with a patio that had a fireplace (highly recommend).

The hotel staff were incredibly polite and accommodating. This is hands down my best hotel experience ever. We were here for a special occasion but we need to make it a regular occasion. I highly recommend this hotel!

Another lovely visit to this beautiful and historic hotel. Supper was great with a delicious menu. We enjoy soaking in the oversized claw-foot tub, so we always choose the Artesian room. Our only slight issue was on the morning of departure the separate shower was not operation, Since the tub has a shower attachment, this eliminated the issue. I am confident that upon our notification, management prior to the next guest. Will always recommend to anyone visiting San Antonio.

I was in upper levels the few times I have been. Honestly you don’t need to worry about the view out of the window, what is going on inside is more interesting. I can’t imagine there is a bad room in the place. The river is not very wide, the amphitheater area is well done, but not large.

It is a very small and quaint library. If you are not able to walk upstairs, there is not an elevator. The cocktails, snacks and comfy seating is all available on the main level of the library.
