We really enjoyed our 4-night stay. The suite was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping did a great job replenishing items and cleaning. Food was sub-par at the on-site restaurant. We were fortunate to not have gotten sick.

We had a nice stay at Wild Oak Ranch. We were in the Mountain Laurel building which was convenient to the amenities. The rooms are nice and our children loved the pools, putt putt course, nature trail, arcade room, movie room and Camp Armadillo. They also loved the planned activities, like the Arts & Crafts time and the karaoke/s'mores night. We ate at JB's restaurant. The service was good but the food was subpar.
The room was very nice, we had a one-bedroom and the kids slept on the pull-out couch. The water heater was very tiny and cold water would run out after only 10 mins of showering, so we ended up using the pool's bathroom showers after swimming so we could have enough hot water.
It's nice but everything could use just a little more TLC to be in pristine condition. But we had a nice vacation where we could relax and just hang around the resort with lots to do.

I probably would not stay at this property again. I'll start with the positives and the reason I gave them 4 stars: beautiful lazy river, nice staff, attractive well maintained grounds, large unit with comfortable beds and linens, plenty of kitchen equipment, large bathrooms, large patio, nice hot tub, plenty of available chairs and outside tables. So why not 5 stars? NOISE! Please please please, take away the incessant loud music at the lazy river!! I can see having that at the pool, it's already a bit noisy with children and volleyball etc but there wasn't one single spot on the entire property where I could lie down and rest in peace. I was forced into one corner near the hot tub at a table , as the only spot where I could hear myself think. I even tried putting my own music on full blast and couldn't drown out the speakers which are EVERYWHERE. If they hadn't had speakers every 6 feet at the lazy river I would have been so happy and would visit again because the river itself is A+. You don't see any buildings, there are lots of places to sit or lie down, ping pong and corn hole but the peace of the surroundings was ruined by loud music, mostly country music or outdated pop music. I didn't eat at the restaurant, the menu wasn't great and the prices were more than I would pay in a large metropolitan city, they even add on over 18% to every order. I also didn't like that they won't take a phone call at the resort from outside so I was unable to contact them prior to check in. I wasn't given any information about the property at all so I didn't know there was a sauna, steam room, hot tub etc. The lazy river was closed for an entire day and the playground for the entire week with no apparent reason. There was no security at all on premises so I didn't feel entirely safe on the walking trails as a woman alone (I didn't even know there were trails until my third day when I stumbled across them). It's not the fault of the hotel but there is loud highway noise and the motorized grounds vehicles and leaf blowers didn't help with noise either. I ended up near the facilities building where I could not only hear but also see the trash and other unsightly materials etc which really could have been avoided with a simple fence or wall. Also, not the resorts' fault but the people next to me were hooting it up every night on the adjacent patio. I couldn't see them but a simple metal divider meant I could hear every word. Why not put up a stucco divider for some privacy? Things that were annoying but not a huge deal were the showers which took a really long time to heat up, the coffee maker wouldn't work until I did a complete cleaning of the entire machine, smallish tvs and a bit outdated furniture. I would have been happy and wouldn't have complained about a thing if they had just made the lazy river a quiet spot though!!

When I am on vacation I love to sleep in late and relax. That was very hard to do here as every morning, at 8 AM, the maintenance workers started up very LOUD leaf blowers, and kept going for the next hour. No sleeping late at this place! Why do they need to start so early, just to blow off a couple of leaves from the sidewalk? The 2 bedroom unit was quite nice, however the couch was very uncomfortable. The cushions were flat and dead. We had to use bed pillows to sit on to try to get comfortable, but even they didn't help that much. The bed was very comfortable and the blackout curtains worked well. The master bathroom is huge, but could use a towel rack or hook near the sink for hand towels. The kitchen had a good assortment of pots, pans, and utensils, however it would have been nice to have a kettle to heat water for tea.
The resort grounds are nice and we took a hike on the nature trail. We wonder how long these beautiful trees will be around as the map they gave us show more buildings and pools will be developed where the nature trail is located.
One night about 11 PM, a very loud noise came from outside our unit. It sounded like a noisy generator. We called the front desk, but they didn't know what it was. It finally went off, but when we reported it the next day, the front desk attendant didn't seem to care.
With the annoying leaf blowers and horrid couch, we will not return.

We received an email from resort one week before arrival basically telling us everything was closed (all pools, slides, hot tubs, saunas, Camp Armadillo, no housekeeping, food and beverage outlets). Gym moved with very little equipment.
This is probably the nosiest resort I have been to. Walls paper thin, housekeeping can’t just shut a door, it has to slam shut EVERY TIME! Lots of maintenance being done, which means strange people always walking by your room. Speaking of housekeeping. Went to do some dishes first night and we had a used sponge under our sink. No clean ones just a used one. Gross.
No recycling can/bags in room. Only one extra garbage liner in kitchen. One bath soap. One tp roll.
For the maintenance fees paid here, not worth it at all. Will not return. How do people rate this 5*? On check out had to pay $60 cleaning fee! They never even came during our stay. What does your annual maintenance fee even cover? We did not leave tip for housekeeping as we paid their tip on checkout.

Our second stay at this facility. We also stayed here in 2009, with no issues.
The good…Excellent location and access to highways for looping the city and amusement parks. Live deer on the property! Desk staff and concierge were friendly.
The not good…General maintenance issues were significant. Lazy River was closed, again, for maintenance. The limited menu restaurant closes at 5:00 pm. There was no menu or information about the restaurant, in the room r on the website. I don’t think they want you to eat there.
We were assigned a 3rd floor unit. When we arrived, we were assured that there was an elevator. However, the elevator was inoperable for most of the week. No updates, even though I reached out, and was assured that I would be updated. No hot water in the shower. They are citing Covid protocols as the reason for no housekeeping. If you want bath towels, linens, etc., you have to ask for them. If you accumulate trash…the trash barrel is down 3 stories of stairs, in front of the building. Be prepared to make your own beds and clean your own unit. The unit was tired and showed wear. The mattress left me with back pain, every morning.
Overall, it feels like a nice facility, with friendly front line staff, that is falling into disrepair, and the administration is not capable of keeping up with the demands, or has decided to allow the issues to continue. We would have chosen another place, if we had known these things. Administration would be wise to be proactive and transparent, to satisfy the needs of people who choose this facility for their vacation.

I have been a loyal Hyatt member for years. My partner and I as globalist have loyalty to the Hyatt brand and have high expectations of their properties. I must say that this property did not meet our expectations. The pros of this property are that the staff are very friendly. The front desk agents are super sweet and explained all the amenities of the property. This property reminds me of an apartment complex with an on-site restaurant, a golf course, several swimming pools, a kids area, and a lazy river. These amenities are very nice and are not found at most Hyatt properties. Another pro is that the rooms themselves look like apartments. From their studio to their one bedroom to their two bedroom, the units come with a kitchen, living area, bathroom and bedrooms. This does offer a huge living area and is perfect for families traveling with children. Another pro is there is plenty of activities to do for adults and children. The units themselves are very well equipped. The kitchens are fully stocked to make a home-cooked meals. The restrooms have all the proper toiletries and hygiene items that you can think of. The staff is quick to respond to any unique request and as stated, the rooms are very spacious. The cons of this property. This is a for lack of better words, a timeshare property, or vacation club property. So they will aggressively attempt to contact you and entice you to go on a tour of the property. They will offer hundred dollar restaurant credits and other incentives to hear their pitch. Once they get a hold of you they will talk to you for hours and attempt to sell you all kinds of timeshare/vacation packages. This can get annoying if you are in town on vacation for leisure and or business. If you can avoid them, then the experience is fairly pleasant. Overall I would recommend staying here as the rooms are very spacious, and the amenities are phenomenal. However, if you get roped into their sales pitch, be prepared to spend at least 2 to 3 hours listening to them. Of course, if you are looking for a timeshare, then this is a great place to go as they will reward you for your time, and the packages are not that bad if you’re into this sort of thing. One more important thing to note they do not recognize any Hyatt tier benefits. Another words you do not get complementary, bottled waters, complementary, early check-in‘s, complementary, late, checkouts, etc. Every person who stays at this property is given the same benefits. There is no recognition for your Hyatt world benefits.

Benjamin, thank you for your review and feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the resort amenities and villas. Being a vacation ownership resort, you are correct we do not recognize World of Hyatt benefits and apologize this was not clear from the moment you booked. We are pleased you still enjoyed your visit and look forward to hopefully welcoming you again.

I’m not selling you a timeshare, so please continue to read below:
Studio rooms are a bit tired, we used Hyatt free night award to try out the Vacation Club brand. The furniture and cupboards of the kitchenette look worn and tired. The grounds are very well kept and pretty Texas hill country and the outdoor amenities including the water areas (pools hot tub and slides) are great for families. In cooler November weather the large and I mean large Windmill hot tub is a must use.
The bar and only restaurant is pretty *yawn* forgettable. Mixed drinks like pina coladas and margaritas will cost 20 bucks after tax and tip and they are not made with premium spirits. This is not a premium bar where you’ll find even mid shelf. Bartender was friendly.
Didn’t try the food because reviews are rough and I can understand why.
Walls are thin in the lock off units (reminder these timeshare properties have lock off rooms they can sell as separate studio units). Doors of the lock off and the door to the unit are also very thin. The soundproofing is generally bad.
You will hear lots of road noise and kids next door.
The balconies are quite private which is nice.
Arguably the worst part of this property is that they have so many nickel and dime items. The activities aside, you are going to have to pay your own way to go to the Hyatt Regency (paid parking) and there is no shuttle. This is mental, and should be fixed. The Regency is a 30 minute walk or five minute drive and has way more dining and beverage options. The network effects of bringing Vacation club business there would be massive if they just connect this. My parents own timeshare weeks in Arizona (dumb) but their Marriott graciously connects to the JW across the street via shuttle and it drives business. Hyatt needs to leverage the Regency like their competitors leverage their close hotels.
This needs to be fixed. We probably won’t return but maybe will try other Vacation club properties in the future in Arizona or Carmel etc.

Pools great but do not eat at JBs. The restaurant stinks so badly when you walk in and when you stay there the smell never goes away. It smells like sewage. My daughter and I were nauseated the entire time. They auto add 18.25% tip which they should not and they do not disclose then when you sit down to order. We had hair in our food, which we sent back, and they still charged us a large tip on all food purchased. Most of the staff were watching the football game and on their phones. They should work for their tips. We are good tippers when it is deserved. VERY Disappointed in our dinner... When I asked them to remove the auto tip the manager, who had been walking around doing nothing, she came up and did not act like a manager.

We did a week trip to Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch at the end of Christmas break so our granddaughter could have a break from Houston. The room was spacious and comfortable. Our granddaughter and daughter spent one afternoon doing photos for Instagram using the ranch’s rustic backdrop. My husband and I especially enjoyed the nature trail where we encountered deer several times.
We grilled hamburgers one night and the staff lit a charcoal fire for us; the grill happened to also be a smoker- most delicious burgers ever!
