Hotel Valencia Riverwalk garners widespread acclaim for its spotless cleanliness and inviting romantic atmosphere, featuring elegant decor and live music that enchant many guests. The hotel's prime location alongside the Riverwalk is a highlight, offering easy access to local attractions. While the staff's exceptional service receives consistent praise, guests' opinions on value and amenities are mixed, with some concerns over additional fees and noise levels in rooms. Despite this, the hotel's valet service and overall convenience are often celebrated by visitors.

My wife selected this Hotel and she made another good choice. When I looked at the location nearer to the time of our visit I was concerned that it would be too far out from the 'main' River Walk area, which I believed to be down near the Alamo. How wrong I was. The location was perfect for us. Just away from the 'tourist heavy' hubbub of the eateries and even further from the 'shopping' part of the walk. Who wants to go shopping when traveling anyway? :-)

We had everything we needed (except for the sunny weather) and enjoyed a relaxing time here in the splendidly decorated hotel (very much Spanish). The presence of waterfall noise in the Lobby adds to the effect on arrival.

We were blessed with some sunshine our first afternoon there and it was only a short walk of 4 or 5 blocks (not along the river) to the historic Alamo site.

The same evening, I stepped out after a lovely meal in the bar/restaurant where we were well looked after (especially after a mix up of where we should be seated :-) ). Just a short walk down the steps to the riverside, turn left 500 yards and left again to get a nigh-time glimpse of the canal, restaurants and illuminated boats - very colourful. The city was preparing for 'Day of the Dead' which we just missed, which was a shame. We walked the 'best' bit of the River Walk the next day (and managed to avoid the rain showers as there are plenty of places to shelter) and also took the 30 minute boat trip.

Our room was spotless, clean and very spacious. It faced the courtyard, which as somebody else has suggested, might have been better with some refreshments available? Not an issue for our visit, though. I have read that there might have been complimentary coffee and margaritas available, but we were not made aware of this.

I did have an IT issue getting onto the Guest Wi-Fi, but the two staff that helped me in the Lobby got to the bottom of it in the end!

In summary: Good Food, Good Location, Friendly, Relaxed and a really tasteful Latin (Spanish) flavour.

2nd time stayed there while on business. It is walking distance to my office site location and to many excellent local mexican food eateries, the Alamo, and 2 beautify Catholic Churches (St. Marys and St. Fernando Cathedral) with daily Mass.

Rooms have a Tex/Spanish design, very attracive, very clean and quiet. Spacious desk and comfortable bathroom.

Only thing I miss is they used to have a breakfast buffett, but no longer. Breakfast now in restaurant a la carte, can be pricey.

Staff very courteous. Look forward to my next stay!

Hubby and I sprung for a suite with Juliette balcony overlooking the River Walk and since it was great location for access to the main section of the River Walk without all of the foot traffic, we really enjoyed that aspect. The street level entrance and lobby were just beautiful. Offered us complimentary margaritas upon arrival and musician with guitar playing Spanish-style music was just lovely. Our room was large and nicely appointed with mini bar, safe, coffee maker, etc.

Drinks at the bar were good, the atmosphere and the music in the lobby were the best parts. The one downside to this hotel was the food which I would say was average at best. Ordered room service and wasn't impressed. Ordered food at the bar and it was ok...I ate it because I was hungry. And ate breakfast in restaurant, hubby asked for an omelet and even though they had egg options, there was no option to get an omelet which for the cost of this hotel, they should be willing to accommodate the customer and the waitress told us she's asked before, but they won't.

Overall, I would stay here again, just would likely make plans to eat elsewhere unless they get a new chef.

The first night was the worst with the noise coming from a neighboring balcony. The noise was from midnight up until probably 2am (could have been later but at some point I put in my headphones to drown the drunken people talking). No one came to say anything about the noise until it was very late and too late might I add. This terrified me for the rest of the trip and quite honestly I considered checking out early and staying elsewhere. Luckily the only noise after that was from the street which was awful anyway because the doors that lead to the balcony don’t cancel out any noise and you can hear normal conversations and also hear extremely loud drunk people walking by, on top of all the other transportation noises. In fact the walls of the entire room allowed you to hear everything everyone was doing all over including when people had to go to the bathroom. This noise issue would have been resolved had there been some kind of fan in the bathroom which there was not. Also, the fact that we paid $38 a night for Valet parking and it took the Valet 30+ minutes each time to get our car really killed our plans multiple times even though we always called well in advance. One of the times we came down after having called for our car about 25 minutes before we needed it, the valet guy didn’t even know we had called for our car and blamed it on the “internet being down”. The last day I actually made my husband walk downstairs to personally tell the Valet guy to get our car before we checked out. All of these things made our stay VERY inconvenient and the worst part was the $38 a night price on a Valet service that made out lives more inconvenient, which defeats the purpose of the Valet service. We would have been better off parking at the self parking lot. Also, I understand the “environmental conservation” of not changing our linens and towels, but our beds never got made until I requested that they came in to change our linens on our last night because I was tired of going to bed in an unmade bed in an expensive hotel.

There were other things that helped offset the bitter taste this kind of service left in my mouth, which was services available to us. From the gym, to the convenient location, to the complimentary wine while we waited for our dinner reservation. We also enjoyed having the personal mini fridge being delivered to us. But that’s about it.

I would not recommend any personal friends or family to stay here as I’d be embarrassed to do so.

This hotel is an older hotel in downtown San Antonio. fFirst off when we arrived after 4 PM we had to wait an hour just to get a room because it wasn’t even ready, whoever cleaned our room did a very poor job—we found a Pea and chicken crumbs on the desk area when we arrived into our room and Cheetos crumbs on the floor The areas with dust you could tell had not been wiped for a while. Our main complaint was the bath tub and shower drain would not drain and took forever for the water to drain out of it,it’s like taking a shower in a pond which was gross, also before we came we called and arranged to have a close riverview because it was the first time visiting the hotel and for an anniversary, and we didn’t even get close to that request. One other note when we were on our balcony —down below is a patio where they let people smoke. are we assumed —there should be a designated smoking area where everybody would not have to smell the cigarette smoke. The employees were friendly but I think for a higher end hotel it should’ve been better, we were disappointed

The hotel is very nice... sophisticated décor and atmosphere... the entry and lobby areas are impressive. Convenient location on the riverwalk. Food, drinks, and service were excellent, albeit a bit pricey. If a posh image is all that matters to you, then I say go for it.

However, I'm surprised about how lacking in practical amenities the rooms were. We stayed in a Executive River King room, which we thought would have a balcony, but it didn't. The bathroom was tiny and the shower, toilet, sink, and mirror were all in the same room, which makes it difficult to share a bathroom with another person. They only offered one small bar of soap, so you had to transfer it back and forth from the sink to the shower. Also there were zero hooks or towel racks in the bathroom to hang towels or robes on. Speaking of robes, they provide two; however, they're in the closet area taking up two of five total hangers. We had to take the robes down (even though we didn't use them) just to have enough hangers to put up our clothes for the weekend. There is no dresser or adequate drawers for clothes either, so I pretty much lived out of my suitcase, which I don't like to do. The king room was pretty big, so I was surprised to learn the only wastebasket in the entire unit was in the bathroom. The room had no fan, no microwave, and the only refrigerator had very little extra room for us to put *our* food and drinks in it because it was full of soda and beer that they charge for.

Overall, for the price, I expected more from the room itself. For this reason, it is unlikely that I'll stay at the Valencia again.

This hotel stay was great! I will stay here again if I ever return to San Antonio. The Riverwalk was very nice and great for couples to stroll. Hotel is in walking distance to many things including a horse drawn carriage ride.

Hotel staff was very accommodating and the food was delicious. Room service is prompt.

Parking is 41 dollars per day, a little steep but it’s 24 hour valet sooooo..... you know.

Hotel followed all the COViD 19 recommendations and staff wore masks and gloves constantly as did I!

All in all the stay was really good. Would have been a five star but they forgot to clean the room one night as requested. In the up side, the response was good and fresh towels were received quickly as requested.

Where do I start?? My boyfriend and I stayed here for our first time in San Antonio. I wanted to stay somewhere with local, authentic charm and a great spot to view the Día de los Muertos parade. We got both in spades! The decor was warm and elegant without being stuffy, our River view room was perfectly appointed (and quiet!), and we enjoyed great drinks at the bar and breakfast on the outdoor balcony at Dorrego’s. We can’t wait for the fireplace to be on next time!

But truly, it was the staff that absolutely made our visit. We haven’t stopped referencing them since we left! Jenny’s warmth and friendliness at the bar was so welcoming, Jacob took extra care to find a bourbon my boyfriend would like. The front desk manager (I’m sorry I didn’t catch his name) and the valet team helpfully made up for initially missing our valet stub we gave them. But it was Sirena at the front desk (and everywhere else we saw her!) who we just could not get over. Not only was her sweetness and smile detected under that pesky mask every time we saw her, her professionalism at check-in and willingness to go above and beyond to make our stay wonderful was always apparent. On the night of the parade, she shared the perfect spot on the hotel property at which to watch the parade float by, delivered delicious cocktails to us throughout, and, when my boyfriend’s sweater fell over the railing into the planter below, Sirena went through the hotel next door (only way to access this planter), retrieved it and brought it back to us! Just wow. We could not have been more grateful.

We know how difficult it is to hire right now, let alone hire and keep great people. Whoever is hiring for Hotel Valencia is doing an amazing job. We will always want to stay here when in San Antonio! A million thanks.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Valencia on our way to visit friends for New Year's. The hotel staff took care of us as soon as we pulled up in front of the hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The hotel is so different than the chain hotels. I love the vintage feel of the lobby, bar, and room. The location on the Riverwalk was so easy and convenient for an evening walk on the River. Everything was perfect. I have to mention Delma the Guest Service Representative because she went out of her way to retrieve my boots I left in the closet and mailed them to my home. I will definitely stay at the Hotel Valencia again!!

Service is outstanding - from the moment you pull up in your car to the moment you leave.

The inside is stunning. The rooms were suites. The rooms are outstanding with wonderful accommodation.

For instance the room had 2 large chairs with ottomans.

The room was set up in such a manner that it felt relaxing and you wanted to stay. Although the rest of the hotel beckoned with a nice bar and dining area.

It is very easy to get to the river walk or head toward the Alamo area.

This is simply one of the most outstanding hotels we have stayed in across the country. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to stay near the riverwalk.
