Very clean BnB with all the extras. The decor was great. the beds were great. The morning basket breakfast was even greater. We have stayed here 2 times . . . When we 1st met and then for our 5 year anniversary.
Adolf was a super host, made check-in easy. Room was so unique, loved the pictures. It had everything we needed (small refrigerator, microwave) even glass wine glasses! A hair dryer was provided upon request. The arbor and gardens were so relaxing with a nice glass of wine in the evening. First night weather was good but second night too cold to appreciate it. Only thing difficult was that the house we stayed in was blocked off from the arbor by the gate that closed in the evening, but a call to Adolf and he quickly came out and opened it, also chatted with us for awhile. Loved the basket breakfast delivered to our room and left outside the door so that we could eat when we wanted to. The fruit cups were wonderful--freshly made by Adolf each day and plentiful. Parking was off site but not very far and a permit was given for free parking. Close enough to Riverwalk, the Alamo & downtown to easily walk. Would definitely go there again and recommend it to others.…
Stayed for 2 nights. Close to many things. We had an upstairs room. Bed was comfortable. Liked that we had a separate sitting area. The breakfast basket that was delivered had all that we needed to get started for the day. The courtyards were a nice touch. And parking was free. Many hotels around the Alamo charge for valet parking. For the things that we wanted to visit, we didn't need the car.
First time staying here. We stayed for 5 nights and last loved the location, free parking, the property and the daily delivered breakfast basket every morning. Albeit the breakfast was the same each morning with fresh fruit, muffins and juice. The room was very clean and well decorated. Walking distance to the river walk and downtown. Would highly recommend it.
Twice a year I travel to San Antonio for conventions. I always book through the Convention Housing Bureau, but until the last minute I thought I wasn't going to attend my recent July convention. I needed a hotel at the last minute and all the ones I usually have to pick from were either booked up or were more than I wanted to pay. I did a search on hotels.com and found Arbor House. I couldn't believe the price and location, just a short walk to the Convention Center and the Inn has free parking! The innkeeper Adolph was very nice, as was the owner Ron who I met later that evening. The suite was comfortable with a king bed in the bedroom and a sofa bed in the living area. The breakfast basket that was delivered in the morning was excellent. I plan to stay here again!
We stayed in the James Bowie Suite with a private balcony. The room has a king size bed, private bathroom, and living area. The room has a coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator. Breakfast, including juice, fresh fruit cup, bagels and large muffins, is dropped off outside the door each morning in a picnic basket. I love this style of B and B because I can eat at my leisure! The location is on a quiet street and in walking distance of La Vallita, the Riverwalk, Hemisphere Park, the Institute of Texan Cultures, and The Guenther House. Adolph, the weekend manager, was friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will stay here again!
Park the car and walk to all the fun downtown San Antonio attractions. Surprised how convenient this B&B is to the Riverwalk, Convention Center and other attractions. The rooms are beautifully appointed and roomy, felt like I was at grandma's house. Very quiet, even though it was fiesta week. Service is attentive, property well landscaped with a hot tub. Pack light if staying in second floor room, as stairs can be steep. Breakfast, although continental and placed at your door each morning, is very good and more than adequate for a day of sight seeing. We will be back when in San Antonio.
This Inn is situated in a great location near everything in San Antonio. The rooms are situated in several old houses that have been remodeled and decorated beautifully. Clean and well appointed rooms, beautiful grounds with a courtyard. Our room had a refrigerator, full size coffee maker and microwave. Our breakfast was delivered outside our door every morning in a basket. Wouldn't stay anywhere else if I was in San Antonio.
This quirky inn was fabricated from a complex of building built by a swiss cabinet maker for his family in 1903. Located a couple of blocks from the riverwalk, the complex was fun and colorful, the staff very helpful too. Our room (the Bowie suite) was quirky and full of character and fun artwork. The bathroom was a little strange as it was divided into two rooms, clearly they had limited options when they were retrofitting the room to be a suite (what do you expect from a building more than 100 years old ) However, they made it work. There were a few oddities in the suite because of this, but nothing too bad. The bed was nice and comfortable too. The continental breakfast was unremarkable. If you like somewhere quaint, interesting and fun to stay, this is the place for you. …
The Arbor House Inn and Suites consists of four old houses that share a garden. Arciniega is a narrow, very quiet street, but it is well lit. It is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the convention center. If you are using the hotel to attend an event at the convention, keep in mind that the breakfast is not available until between 8 and 8:30. I asked for as easly service as possible and in one case that meant about 8:10. The breakfast - a bagel, a muffin, juice and a fresh fruit cup is delivered to your door in a basket. There was a coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave in the room. Regular coffee was provided, but not decaf coffee or tea. The Bowie Suite consists of a sitting room, balcony, bedroom and a bathroom split in 2 with the toilet separate from the shower and sink. Hot water arrived quite quickly and the shower worked well. There is plenty of light and a ceiling fan/light in both the bedroom and sitting room. I had trouble turning on the bedroom fan and didn't find the wall switch by the toilet until the second evening. The fan/light can be turned off either with the chains attached to the fixtures or the wall switch. Both must be "on" for the fan/light to work. In the bedroom the free wifi did not work well. The signal was weak and the connection kept getting dropped. The one time I tried the internet in the sitting room in the morning the signal was much better. All of the surfaces in the room are "cluttered" with books, glasses, knick-nacks, etc. There is a desk, but it is cluttered and none of the electrical outlets near it are open The one bedside table is also similarly cluttered and the nearby outlets full. I moved a large stool from the sitting room to the bedroom for my CPAP. Some of the windows have blackout curtains, but others do not. You can get the room reasonably dark, but not completely dark. If you are sensitive to light, you may wish to bring eye shades. The room key also opens the door to the building. You are advised to keep both locked. I was warned that it was difficult to open the front door of the grey house with the Bowie suite and to enter by the back door.…
