Front desk was very nice and checked me in quickly and was very informative. There werent any questions to ask because they covered everything needed. Rooms very spacious and clean. The whole staff was kind, respectful, helpful, and all around excellent.
We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in San Antonio. The room was clean and the bed was very good. the breakfast had a good variety of hot and cold items...but did not like the fact they were serving everyone...at times it got very backed up and you had to wait because there was only one person serving.
My husband and I stayed here for 10 nights in January on a trip to Boerne for the history and sightseeing, a few other nearby places, and the 3 caverns. Boerne is very expensive and upscale so we chose not to stay there. We prefer traveling this time of year when generally less crowded, generally less heat and humidity. We recommend Las Palapas Mexican restaurant which is near the hotel: Great prices, selection, service, food, and environment. Our hotel observations... Pros: -Close proximity to Boerne, other nearby towns we wanted to visit, and all 3 caverns. -Great deal via our BW Rewards. -Easy freeway access near restaurants, grocery, and medical, if needed. -Exterior and grounds updated, clean, quiet. -Interior and rooms mostly updated, clean, large lobby, quiet in general. -Large selection of hot and cold breakfast items including an espresso / cocoa machine and tea bar. -We appreciated the onsite ATM and refillable water bottle station. -Computer worked in the business center. -Well-stocked mini lobby store with snacks, meals, treats, drinks, toiletries. -Fitness room (didn't use, although a nice amenity to have). -Spacious King Suite with a semi-separate seating area and overhead fan, clean; only noticed a couple carpet and lamp shade stains, large bathroom, Keurig (didn't use), working micro and fridge. -Working elevator. -Most of the staff we encountered were friendly. Cons: -Very slow, spotty internet. -Business center printer down the whole time we were there, had to have front desk print for us. -Front and back parking kind of small, especially with construction vehicles and trailers. -Breakfast area door to back parking remained unlocked / key card access broken? for anyone to access. I noticed this complaint was made by a guest last month as well. -Beds ok comfortable (have experienced better and worse at other BW locations). The now usual row of small, square pillows in standard-sized pillow cases (and no, they don't expand!). Bring your own if you prefer standard-sized pillows (like hotels used to have). -AC/Heater made a very loud, buzzing sound. -Outdated, cracked shower surround with high and low shelves on the side to bump into. -Despite being "off" season, it was fairly full with construction workers from what we saw in the front and back parking and breakfast area, among other travelers. -Very low/below standard-height room toilet. -Breakfast seating is fairly small and items were already picked through by the construction workers even though we showed up at the time indicated it started. After that, we got there at least 15 min. early. Didn't matter. Server was at least good about replacing items. -Outdoor only pool and hot tub locked up for the season. No year-round (indoor) access is a turn off and a waste of energy since both were still filled and the hot-tub was steaming. Most hotels we've stayed it either drain or winterize their outdoor pools / hot tubs. -Rooms get booked up quickly with corporate accounts / construction workers, per front desk manager. -Front Desk Manager wasn't very forthcoming nor friendly with information. -Sign on check-in counter noted to call Hotel Manager directly at listed #. I called it, went straight to front desk and the FDM answered. Issue: The low toilets felt like hunkering on a public child-height toilet. Especially bad if you are the least bit tall (I'm 5'8") and have mobility / pain conditions. My husband is shorter, even he noticed how low it was. We always book early but no Accessible rooms were available at the time we booked online. After noticing the low toilet in our room, I checked with the Front Desk Manager who stated only "1" would open up the next day. We opted to stay where we were because it would've been a hassle to switch being we were gone each day / all day out of S.A and when housekeeping would have to be there..... Regardless - - I asked her how many total Accessible rooms on the premises, she stated "2" (website states 5). I asked out of how many rooms, she stated "77". I asked if other rooms had the same low toilets, she stated "all of them are like that, renovations are due soon, but I don't know what in particular." (website states renovations were just made in 2018). Note: We've stayed in other types of BWs, mostly Budget / Non-Plus that have had less "cons" than this Plus hotel. If the toilets are renovated to standard height and easier access to "Accessibility" rooms, we could overlook the other cons and stay here again due to enough "pros" - at least for a shorter stay... …
an amazing staff at a hotel that is better in every way to $200+ a night hotels. that’s NOT an exaggeration, it’s a fact. beautiful, contemporary rooms that are spotless and meticulously maintained by the most hard working, professional, and friendliest staff you’ve ever met.
Tried to charge me $35 early check in fee when I arrived at 2:05 instead of 3 on a Wednesday when like 5 people were staying at the hotel. Then when I came back, tried to charge me for the room even though I’d booked and paid through my credit card. Yikes. Hallways are newly renovated but units are dingy; bathroom was kind of yucky and ac unit was so loud. I’d book next door instead…
Pros: - The room was clean and spacious - Good location next to two highways and a shopping center, it took around 25 minutes to get to downtown - Good variety of breakfast available with hot and cold options - The parking lot was well-lit at night - The staff was friendly and accommodating to requests - The interior was modern - Free 24 hour coffee bar Cons: - The Wifi was very slow, almost unusable - The hotel's back door lock was broken so people could enter without a room key - The bed was loud and squeaky - On the room's ice bucket, there was a brown sticky substance and a hair - The breakfast area was small, so it was often crowded Overall, I would definitely stay again. This hotel was an excellent value and a great place to stay.
Tub combo dated and needs an update for safety, if not looks and sanitation. Tub very slippery with no hand holds and has a 70’s type shower curtain. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and clean.
Special chapter: 1-Mrs Monica,Manager or Front Desk, is a very kind and professional person. 2-Be sure to try the coffee machine in breakfast it is wonderful. 3-Breakfast wonderful. Room: Good size, clean everything works. Bathroom clean. Bed comfy. Hotel: Clean outside and inside Safe and quiet place. Close Walmart walking distance and other stores restaurants, etc pool and hot tub very clean. We stay again
For the price we paid I am very satisfied with best western plus. The other positive reviews are what motivated me to go ahead and book and I am really glad I did. The other good reviews are totally on the spot and I highly recommend this hotel. The outside of the building does not do the inside justice. I was a little hesitant upon parking but when we walked inside it was like a whole other place. The inside looks brand new and the rooms are comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was good and the coffee amenities great! Book your stay!
This place was very clean and well maintained. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonably priced the rooms were, especially with the high cost of things today as well as the hotel’s location.
