I gave this rating a 4/5 stars because when we ordered room service it took them a lot of time to deliver the food to us. But other than that it was an AMAZING experience for everyone in my family, we had a lot of fun at the water park and making s’mores by the campfire that they have. The hotel room was super nice and clean and had a ton of space in the closet!

I visited my mother for Mother’s Day. She lives in an assisted living community north of San Antonio and I’ve been wanting to check out the JW Hill Country, so I made a lunch reservation at 18 Oaks (the supposedly terrific steakhouse restaurant) a few weeks before my visit. After arriving to the valet chaos and getting mom in her wheelchair, I followed the signs to 18 Oaks, down a long hallway with a ramp going down. We got to the next sign pointing us to the restaurant, which sent us outside. However, there is no ramp - just a lot of stairs. We backtracked and checked to see if a nearby elevator would take us down to the right place so we could get to the restaurant. Nope - it only goes to the spa. So, back into the building, up the long hallway ramp and to the front desk. They seemed baffled that I couldn’t find my way to the restaurant and sent one of the bell staff to escort us. She took us to exactly the same places we had just been. Still nothing but stairs. So, again, back into the building, up the long hallway ramp and to the front desk. At this point I’m drenched from the heat, humidity and wheelchair-pushing workout. This time a gentleman said he would escort us. He tried to take us the same way again. When I explained we had already been that way, he said he was certain there was a pathway with no stairs. I asked him to go ahead without us and come and get us if that was indeed true. He came back and said he couldn’t find a way to the restaurant without stairs. Next I was told to ask the valets for a shuttle to the restaurant. When the “shuttle” came, it was a golf cart. It was obvious my 92-year-ole mother would not be able to get in and out easily, and I was not going to risk her getting hurt. It was time to give up. I asked for my car back from the valet and we took our sweaty, frustrated, exhausted selves elsewhere. My biggest question is this: why would a 5-star resort not have handicap access to some of its main facilities? And aren’t there laws that require public areas of hotels to be handicap accessible? The main entry doors also don’t have auto-open buttons. All in all, a very frustrating Mother’s Day.

We booked a two night stay and play at the J W Marriott San Antonio at the TPC San Antonio. It rained the second day and the Marriott refused to give us credit for the second days charge for the golf green fee. This is a charge of approximately $520 that we could not use and they refused to credit. I would advise anyone considering a stay and play package at any Bonvoy resort to avoid the booking as there is no credit for rounds not played.

This is a very large resort. At times, you may find yourself as part of a convention group. Important to plan your stay prior so that you can maximize amenities. Staff was excellent. Food at all restaurants was excellent. My wife enjoyed the Spa. Important to carry your credentials or wrist bands given access to lazy river is governed. First class golf.

Extremely disappointed with the housekeeping/cleanliness/management. We stayed there for 3 nights and we had 2 connecting rooms. Mind you I have a 6 year old and an 11 month old. The second day before we left the room for the pools, I called front desk and requested cleaning because I knew when we came back, the baby is going to need nap. We must’ve been gone to the pools for about 4 hours. We came back to the room around 5pm-6pm only to find out the room hadn’t been cleaned and of course there were only 1 clean towel left. I then called the front desk again to ask what happened. What was the miscommunication here? A few hours had gone by, nobody had called back. I called again. The front desk then said someone on their way. I knew by then better to trust any front desk. We had dirty toddler and baby and even the adults. I’m like ‘just send us some clean towels.’ Much later gone by, house keeping finally showed up. Now the our third day, I’m done with calling and housekeeping. But my husband said he called before we came down to the pool. I’m like ‘Good Luck!’ Sure enough we came back to the dirty messy rooms. And the entire day nobody came to clean. Then on the 4th day we checked out, as we packed our stuffs, we found trash from precious occupants in the tv stand. Sigh! At the check out counter, I informed the front desk about the situation, she said they’re supposed to clean everyday. Duh! It’s not my first time here. We’ve stayed there so many times. And every time was good. I don’t know what happened to the quality control here and management too. They don’t seem to know what’s going on. Look we paid the JW Marriott price right? I know different JW has different management. But there’s certain expectations/ standards that comes with the luxury brand. I’m honestly underwhelmed with this hill country location. The downtown Austin one knows how to appreciate our loyalty a lot better. We were offered an executive suite upgrade on our second stay. But this one never ever! Of all the numerous times that we’ve been! Obviously gold elite is not worthy of upgrade. Wow! What a way to appreciate our patronage.

This is one place I never thought I would be leaving a review like this. I was at the JW Marriott San Antonio for the American Hospital Association's Rural Healthcare Leadership conference. I was with 2 other people who were attending the conference. When we checked in, it was a bit of a mess. Reservations for most didn't match up with confirmation numbers given. We had reservations, checking out Wednesday, Feb. 22. The other two were told they could not be found for the last night. However the desk clerk said no problem and was able to add Tuesday night. They just needed to come to the desk on Tuesday to have their keys rescanned. Well that didn't work as they were told they didn't have a room booked for that night. When they located the clerk who did the check-in, he was able to straighten it out. When it was my turn to check in I was told I had a room and was set to check out on Wednesday. He said I was in a luxury suite, which seemed odd as my reservation was for a room with 2 queen beds with a walk out deck. I didn't really think much of it as I thought somehow I received a complimentary upgrade since I'm a member of Marriott's Bonvoy program. Well when the bill arrived, it was not what was expected. I was charged about $3000.00 more for a room I never requested. At checkout I didn't have time to try to straighten things out as I had to get to the airport to catch a flight home. I went through the dispute process with Capital One and it was denied. Marriott said I received the services requested and Capital One sided with Marriott. I tried again to dispute the charges saying what I received was not what was reserved. I submitted a copy of the email from Marriott for the original reservation for my room. It showed what the rate was to be for Saturday-Monday night. For Tuesday night, I submitted a copy of a bill for another person in our group, showing what they were charged. Clearly what was submitted was not what they charged me--it was much less. This was submitted following a lengthy conversation with a CSR from Marriott Business Services. I was told that the request for a refund was REJECTED by a controller. I was not able to get a clear explanation as the WHY it was rejected. The evidence was given as to what my reservation was for and what others were charged for the final night. However it was basically denied. If Marriott tries to say I requested the upgrade, that's not correct. I have 2 other people who were with me to back me on this. The only request we had was getting rooms close to each other on the same floor. Nothing about upgrades. The JW Marriott San Antonio is a beautiful resort. HOWEVER be very careful to check that you get what's booked and you don't get the old "bait and switch". This is something I never expected from Marriott, and it leaves a very bad taste in my mouth--and I'm not afraid to tell others to avoid any JW Marriott, so they can avoid what happened to me. If someone from the JW Marriott in San Antonio wants to reach out to me to discuss this, that would be great. Trying to work with Marriott's customer service is not the easiest as you never know if you're going to reach someone in the US or abroad.

Staff at reception was great. Easy checkin and building employees friendly. In the morning we were woken up at 7:30 as a full construction crew was breaking down a golf grandstand. There had been a golf tournament there. So loud construction at 7:30 in the morning. We had to change rooms. When I brought this up to the manager, he had no idea, this was going on. And did not write back as to when it would be finished. We had to switch rooms. In the new room when we went out side to our patio my son was attacked by fire ants. Once again, Manager said he had no idea that Fire ants we’re on premises at all. Safety team did great job. Sent pictures of nests to manager, no response, no discount on room (safety team said they would get one for me from Manager. Lucky I’m not suing them.). First room did not have a safe. Building staff was in my room for 10 minutes. Looking for a safe that was not there. We needed a cot brought in. The mattress wasn’t even a mattress. It was like a cheap boxspring. Asked the manager if it ever felt the cot mattresses and he said no. Lots of stuff like this overlooked . Only one tennis court there. And quite a Walk to get there. And they cannot tell you if somebody is on it or not. All it would take would be a small camera on the tennis court that they could view from the front desk. A very minimal investment. Once again, just small details that management is missing here. My patio was pretty filthy. Bird poop all over the chairs. Empty seltzer cans. Cleaning staff should also clean outside room. Plenty of chairs at the pool was a good thing but they play the same dozen songs on loop over and over again. Once again sent Manager an email about that with no response. Overall an average Marriott , a very friendly and helpful support. Staff with management just not hands on and paying attention to details.

I was really impressed by my stay at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. It is a massive hotel that is immaculate. The service is also top notch. A big reason I booked here was to play some golf at the attached courses. If you're coming for golf, this is certainly a convenient option. There is also a beautiful waterpark that I unfortunately didn't get to use due to the bad weather. It's a fairly pricey option, but I'd definitely return and highly recommend the JW Marriott San Antonio. Thank you to the staff for Ana amazing few days.

We drove from Houston for a weekend at JW Marriott - San Antonio. However, one of the key cards issued to us was defective. I have the other card in my wallet but was out of the hotel for errands. So when my wife and kids returned from the pool, they couldn’t open the room. So, my wife went down to the lobby to ask for a replacement card but they would not give her one. They asked for my ID, since they said the room was under my name. I sent my wife a photo of my ID but the front desk person - Roxy Garcia, says it wasn’t enough and wanted to see me in person. My wife requested to see the Manager - Oscar Gregorio, who came to the counter but was unable to help at all, he was asking for the same thing. My wife was upset and tearful, they were all wet by the lobby waiting to get a replacement key card. I mean, they issued a defective card and made it look like we’re at fault. It’s not like we’re checking-in once again. I already showed them my ID and credit card when we checked in, we just needed a replacement key card for a defective card and they wanted to see me in person?! In short, I was forced to drive back to the hotel to show them my face and my ID. What if I am in a conference or business meeting and can’t be bothered?!
