Stayed here mid July on a long weekend. The place was packed because of summer and being a weekend. This is our first time and we went with an 18 month old and we all had a blast. There is so much to do may it be to relax or enjoy the waterpark. I would recommend this resort especially for families and would go back again. Maybe not during peak time. We must have arrived at prime time because unloading took a while, the line of cars was long. At least when we arrived at unloading area, there were plenty of staff to help unload and help take your things to your room, very helpful when I have my hands full with my child. I didn't experience the wait for check-in because my family who came before us checked us in. The room was nice, clean, and spacious, we booked a king bed but got double beds, but we made it work. Our bathroom had a separate tub and shower. Tub is a plus with a toddler. The resort is big, depending on where your room is there's alot of walking involved especially to get to room to the pool. We had a stroller and it was easy to maneuver around the hotel and grounds. I found it very helpful to have a stroller if you have a little one. The water park was great. My husband did the all the slides. The lazy river was fun, but quite crowded. There was a nice splash pad for the little ones, and they let my husband take my toddler on the children's slide. She really enjoyed that. There was also another family pool adjacent to a sand/beach area for the kids. The sand area had sand toys and buckets, endless fun for the little one. There were plenty of chairs, pool areas, and a jacuzzi. There were many choices for onsite restaurants, they were okay. We utilized room service most of the time which was good and prompt. The brunch seemed popular, but we didn't try. Activities, there was a calendar of events and times, seemed like it would be good for children to participate like outdoor movies. We enjoyed the nightly smores. Miscellaneous stuff. I found it very helpful to have onsite washer and dryers with soap provided. They also had microwaves accessible, I saw families popping popcorn. Will definitely add that to the packing list next time. I would have given 5 stars, but was disappointed with the double beds instead of a king and since it was so crowded when we asked to be changed they said they had no availability and that was that.

We are currently staying at the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort. When we checked in the staff were very pleasant and helpful. The check in staff went above and beyond to ensure our check in was a pleasant experience. The rooms are clean, roomy, and well maintained. We have eaten at all the restaurants on the resort and the food at all the restaurants is amazing. There were plenty of gluten free options available as well. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that all my dietary concerns were addressed and often modified the menu to assist us. The grounds are well manicured and maintained. Marriott appears to be continuously updating the property. Our only complaint was with the Lantana Spa. We booked at the Lantana Spa as we were promised Bonvoy Points. We booked two 50 minute spa treatments and the one treatment we received was mediocre at best. They had promised us 2000 Marriott Bonvoy points per treatment. When we checked out from the spa at the end of the day they would not give us 2000 points. Liam the manager promised to look into this but we never heard back from him. Although the spa facilities are nice the staff at the spa could use some training to ensure that they don’t give false information to clients. The resort is beautiful and we will come again but we will not return to this spa. We will use another spa in San Antonio.

Dear Jon519, Thank you for being our guest and for the gracious rating. We are delighted that you particularly loved our graciously appointed accommodations and devoted associates. It was also a pleasure knowing you liked our beautiful property and the quality food at our brilliant on-site restaurants. However, we are sorry for not meeting some of your expectations and the disappointing experience you had at our spa. We request you to reach out to our front desk once more, as they will be happy to help you with any queries regarding your Marriott Bonvoy points. Thank you again for choosing JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, and we look forward to providing you with a more enriching experience the next time your travels bring you to the city. We stayed one night, two rooms. We reserved the rooms with one cc and checked in with another cc. The front desk staff charged both cards for the stay and their incidental charges. Again on both cards. When we brought this to their attention they said don’t worry it will fall off within 7 days. They refused to credit or release the hold on the card. I have since been sent to the phone business center. Clearly overseas because to language is hard to understand. I am still being told I just have to wait for the hold to fall off in 7 days. I am tired of the overcharges and holding funds that don’t belong to them. There are plenty of other hotels to stay in. Marriott clearly doesn’t care about fare practices.

Dear Chadfff, Thank you for staying at our hotel. We apologize that you were overcharged for your stay. We assure you that this was not deliberate, and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Please know your situation is being used as a training tool for our front desk associates to ensure this does not happen again. However, please also know the charges will be released within seven business days. We thank you for your patience and hope you will consider giving us a second chance to provide you with a flawless overall experience. Brian Morris Director of Sales and Marketing

My wife and I came here for a conference, but we will definitely be back for a more leisurely stay in the near future. The entire property is gorgeous. The rooms, pool(s), restaurants, play area, fitness center... everything is well maintained and top of the line. Every member of the staff we encountered during our stay was very helpful and pleasant, we never ran into anyone that wasn't willing to help. If one person didn't have the answer, they would direct us to someone who did have the answer. I highly recommend this property for singles, couples, and the entire family. You won't regret your stay!

The rooms and all public areas are immaculate, spacious and beautifully furnished and decorated. The grounds and pool area are large and beautifully landscaped. The best feature of the resort, however, is the friendly and without exception very attentive and helpful staff. Food and drinks are excellent although a bit pricey. The appetizers in the restaurant are large, very good and two.....the guacamole (with chips) and barbecue tips.....will easily make a meal for two.
