The Emily Morgan San Antonio - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel draws praise for its historic charm and excellent location near The Alamo and Riverwalk. While guests appreciate the clean, elegant rooms and the rooftop pool, some have encountered maintenance and housekeeping issues. The staff is noted for being responsive and friendly, although the value is questioned, with some visitors feeling the cost does not align with the quality and service received. Amenities are generally well-regarded but not without room for improvement in areas like room service and water pressure.

The Emily Morgan is a beautiful and elegant hotel with an awesome staff. I spent 4 nights here for a business trip. It was quiet, comfortable, and felt like home. I loved my view of the Alamo. The bartender working while I was here was amazing - very friendly and just top notch. She shared her own personal paranormal experience. I ate dinner at the bar two nights because of her warmth and professionalism.

While I don’t think I had any major paranormal encounters, I did notice a couple of things on the third floor. First, I kept hearing water dripping but it did not appear to be coming from any of the faucets. Second, I heard a few loud bangs and knocks the last night - nothing super loud or annoying - as well as the sounds of something rolling (it wasn’t squeaky so I don’t think it was the ghostly gurney). Third, I noticed two scratches on my leg the third morning after I woke up. The scratches disappeared completely by the evening. Finally, I thought that I felt someone settle into my bed the last night. I am pretty sure that all of these things could be explained by logical reasons but who knows?! That’s part of the fun. I will admit that I’m glad that I didn’t have a more unexplainable experience. I probably would have spent the rest of the nights in the lobby.

I would definitely recommend the Emily Morgan and would absolutely stay here again…though next time, I’ll bring my family, just in case.

Pro Tip: if you are feeling adventurous, book a ghost tour with Bad Wolf Ghost Tours down the street. My guide, Laura, was fantastic. As a warning, you will learn some unsettling stories about the Emily Morgan - ha ha.

Thank you!

We booked a room at the Emily Morgan so that we could enjoy an evening in downtown SA and not worry about driving home a a late hour. The Emily Morgan was very clean and our room had a sealed sticker on the door jam stating that no one had been the room after its cleaning. The room was very spacious and well appointed, the mattress was firm and comfortable. The coffee packets in the room were standard fair so we ordered room service to deliver coffee in the morning. The staff showed up at the door with the coffee carafe under her arm and not ceramic or china cups but two styrofoam cups in one hand and the little single serve creamers in the other. Maybe they don't have good coffee cups or service trays? The coffee was no better than the packets in the room. :( The service was disappointing for price! The room rate was reasonable for downtown SA at this time of year.

Having stayed here before, I actually chose it because the host hotel for my company meeting on the riverwalk was completely booked. The hotel is eclectic and the rooms are uniquely shaped compared to typical cookie-cutter rooms, but they are spacious and it provides some charm. The location is literally a few steps from the Alamo and the room charge was very reasonable. I will definitely stay here again and plan on bringing my wife and our dog as the hotel is per friendly with a small fee. I Definitely like this property.

Hotel staff was excellent but this is an old hotel with dark rooms and awkward room layouts. In a 2 queen bed room the beds did not have enough space on one side to access the bed. Also, the bathroom has barn doors with frosted glass that lets light into the room. Not a great set up if someone is trying to sleep

This was my first visit to the Emily Morgan but not my first trip to San Antonio. My family enjoyed our stay at this hotel especially its location but feel like the site could benefit from some changes. 1. Prepare to pay for valet parking. The posted directions lead you to a local parking lot which is public parking and generally full. 2. Despite a call for businesses to “get back to business,” the Hilton organization still appears to be holding back. Daily cleaning was not available unless requested in advance and I believe the only food service was in their full service restaurant. The food was no big deal as, there were plenty of other local food choices but the lack of daily cleaning means you’re paying for service you are not receiving. It also means there may be a lack of staffing to support all guests. We also noticed that the elevators seemed to alternate between what was working. Strange but a regular occurrence. So, in summary, a great location with hot and cold service and staffing. Btw, the valet service was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping guests. In contrast, the check in service while efficient did not go beyond what was required. Enjoy your time in San Antonio!

Hotel was very clean to include hand sanitizer in many areas, markers for social distancing, lobby smelled great, mini lysol wipes in room upon arrival. Did find 2 areas of room with crumbs (ice can and TV counter). Staff was great, we used valet as well. Unfortunately our room was at end of hall with 2 other doors so anytime the neighbors knocked or opened their door it sounded as if they were opening or knocking on our door. There was loud neighbor action late at night but I chose not to report and talk to them myself and it was resolved. Also, no cookies as promised during our 2 night stay! Not important but would've been nice to have them for my littles. Loved how close it was to Alamo and other attractions. Pool was closed for repairs.

My husband I stayed at the Emily Morgan hotel from Monday - Wednesday. We had booked the Duke Suite which is on the top floor.

We arrived at about 3:30pm on Monday. Miss Tonni (I think that’s her name) checked us in. She was so lovely and so nice! She definitely made us feel welcome.

My husband was disappointed that we didn’t get any of the delicious DoubleTree cookies though but no matter.

The elevator at the Emily Morgan was really fast. I’ve never been to a hotel with a fast elevator like that.

Our room was very spacious and the views were amazing! We had a view overlooking the Alamo and downtown. I loved the high ceiling in the bedroom too. The jacuzzi bath was very deep and comfortable. I wish I had a bath like that for my house! The bed was very comfortable, and I liked how there was an oscillating fan in the bedroom to help cool things down. Noise wasn’t an issue either as it was fairly quiet.

Premium WiFi wasn’t available for purchase but the standard WiFi was good and reliable.

Although the room had cups, I wish it did have plates and cutlery as well. That is my only complaint. Other than that, the suite was perfect!

When we were about to leave, I called the front desk so they could get our car from valet. It didn’t take that long to get our vehicle. Miss Tonni checked us out, and again, she was just as sweet and friendly as before.

The Emily Morgan will definitely be mine and my husband’s go to hotel when we are in San Antonio. We will always book the Duke suite because everything about it was great! I can’t recommend this hotel enough!

We arrived on Aug 3rd to celebrate my husband's birthday. The room # 911 had an Alamo view. The following made our stay uncomfortable: the sunken tub, the lighting, only one working elevator, and the cold water handle did not work. After I voiced my concern that the sunken bath tub was too deep and dangerous for us, we were assigned to room #304. We moved at 10 pm on the 3rd. The following morning we were going on a tour at 9 am. The cold water handle was not working. We went on our tour and let the front desk know at 10 pm. The maintenance man checked it and told us that he could work on the handle. The front desk person told us that we would have the door open to another room to shower. We decided to check out without taking a bath. Only one elevator was working. We were in the elevator with 8 people! The front desk person gave us only a $70 discount for the inconveniences. I would not stay at this hotel anymore. These rooms are dangerous>

We stayed for two nights at the Emily Morgan and had a great time. Room was much larger than the usual new hotel layouts. Bed comfortable. Room darkening curtains really were darkening.

The Emily Morgan hotel is pet friendly, although there is a charge, which allowed us to have our dog with us. The Alamo and places to walk felt safe and provided our dog places to enjoy (everyone must pick-up after dogs because I never saw any leftovers).

We used the hotel as our homebase to drive to Boca Chica, TX and see SpaceX Star Base and facility. Up and out early we were back about 7pm.

The River Walk with its businesses and restaurants was just a couple of blocks beyond the Alamo so we were able to walk everywhere and leave our car in Valet parking...no looking for a parking spot.

Would also recommend eating at the Pat O'Brien's restaurant in Alamo area and enjoying Nathan Lugo, singer/guitarist. We tried the Jambalaya and an order of wings. They were both delicious.

The Valets (Jay M and PMC) at the Emily Morgan Hotel were attentive, friendly, and we only had to wait a minute or two for our truck to be in front of the door. Most times when going out the door I didn't need to touch the door, Jay M or PMC had already opened it for me!

This all made for a great, relaxing, feeling pampered stay.

Let me start by saying that most of the time when I travel for work I typically choose Hilton hotels as I prefer this brand. The hotel is located in the heart of downtown. It's right next door to the Alamo and the river walk. The outside of the hotel looks very nice. The hotel itself doesn't have onsite parking but there is a parking lot just next to it that you can use for a fee. The lobby looked nice and we could tell there was some historical context around certain things in the lobby. Upon check-in, the staff was courteous and helpful. The light on the elevator button didn't work but you could hear that it was coming. Once I stepped out of the elevator the carpet looked like it could use a good cleaning and that feel continued into my room. The view of San Antonio was beautifully on display and was really nice. The bed was made and the sheets looked clean but the overall feel of the room made you question that, and the furniture looked like it had seen better days. While most hotels I've stayed in have USB ports available (on the side table, on the desk, or the side of the bed) this room did not. The decor looked dated and dinghy. The bathroom is where it goes downhill for me. The bottom of the shower looked dirty and I couldn't tell if it was mold or if the shower sealant was dirty. Either way I didn't investigate any further for fear of wanting to switch hotels. I wish I would have packed shower shoes as it would have made me feel better. The baseboards of the bathroom were dirty and again made you question the cleanliness of the room. Overall this hotel needs a refresh and a good clean.

The best way is to take an UBER or Taxi which are both available at the airport outside of baggage claim. The ride is only 15-20 minutes and on average will cost $22-$25 dollars one way. We hope to see you soon.
