We really enjoyed the Hotel Gibbs. Every employee that we encountered was really great, helpful and super nice. We had a free drink at the pub the first night and had a great conversation about San Antonio with the female bartender. The location was super. Across the street was the Alamo, 1/2 a block to river walk, visitors center. They had breakfast but had to adjust their normal because of the Corona Virus, but they went out of their way to get you what you wanted. The rooms were nice with a lot of character. We would stay there again.

Hello, Thank you for staying with us. We're glad to hear you enjoyed your stay with us! We have had to adjust the normal breakfast due to the current situation but as you said we still have a great variety and we are still serving our Texas shaped waffle. We look forward to having you stay again.

We loved staying at this historic hotel where the owners have taken great care to save the history of the building while providing a modern hotel for their guests. The staff is very welcoming and we loved the welcome text prior to arrival to see if there was anything they could do to prepare for our arrival. The breakfast offered quite a variety of foods. Location is perfect - a very easy walk to anything you may want to see and do in downtown San Antonio. We highly recommend it!

Stayed here for one Saturday night with my boyfriend. The location is literally across the street from the Alamo and a very short walk from the riverwalk. Area seems safe even at night, just be wary of homeless people who may ask for money. We got back to the hotel Saturday night around midnight and could hear club music coming from somewhere nearby until at least 1:30 AM. Thankfully I pack a white noise machine and earplugs everywhere I travel so wasn’t too awful for me personally. The bartender Gabe is very nice and friendly. Heads up though that the bar doesn’t serve food or liquor (but $4 beer and wine!) but apparently there’s a taco bar until 7 pm I believe. I just happened to arrive after this was over. The bedrooms are very small, as are the beds, but the hotel used to be a bank so they did what they could with the given space. Good hotel for one or two nights but probably not much more IMO.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. I'm sorry to hear about the noise from the vibrant area we have around the hotel that sometime can run until late into the evening. Rest assured if you were to let our staff know we can have the bike patrol control the noise for us. We also recommend trying one of our king suites or executive king with a view which will both have much larger rooms and a wonderful view of the Alamo. Thanks again for staying with us!

The Gibbs Hotel and staff surpassed all of our expectations. This was our first time to San Antonio and the staff at Gibbs made it so memorable. The location was excellent for all the downtown activities. All of the staff were so nice and informative but there are a few that exceeded and stood out on all levels. The front desk receptionist, Heather, was so kind and informative from the very beginning when we booked our reservations to the day we left. She always had a smile on her face and expressed an eagerness to help. Breakfast every morning was beyond what we had envisioned. We expected the typical continental breakfast but not at Hotel Gibbs. Jessica and her staff went beyond any expectations we had. Jessica always greeted us each morning with her bubbly personality and beautiful smile. She made it her mission to start everyone's day with a warm hearty breakfast and her special compassion for people. We didn't have to use Valet but was so fortunate to utilize Javier as our Lyft driver on several occasions. His hospitality went beyond the job. On each of our trips, he was liking riding with a friend. All great employees have a great leader and David, the General Manager, is just that! His dedication to the guests at Gibbs is as superior as his dedication to the Staff of Hotel Gibbs. We had the Junior Suite facing the Alamo and it was wonderful. Perfect view, spacious room, comfortable bed, excellent service, highest level of professionalism.....We HIGHLY recommend Hotel Gibbs:

To start with, hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Hotel is clean, but VERY small. We thought we were getting a queen size bed, but it seemed more like a full size and the mattress was very hard. The web site said there was parking. What it doesn’t tell you is that it costs $23-$31depending on whether or not you want self park or valet. The web site also says Pet Friendly. Although we were able to bring our pup, there is a deposit fee. Also, there is hardly any grass anywhere for the pup to go, not that the hotels fault, just FYI. Breakfast was great! This was a nice hotel, but for the money, I think there are better values for our purposes.

Thank you for your candid review! Our cozier rooms do in fact have queen beds, however we apologize you did not find it to your liking. For your next visit, we recommend booking our Alamo View Junior Suite or King Suite, both of which are our largest room types along with amazing views of the Alamo! As with all downtown properties, our hotel offers valet only service with unlimited in and out privileges, however there are many cheaper self-park options in the area as well. We hope you were also able to take advantage of our $4 happy hour every hour in our 1909 Taproom along with our complimentary evening meal. We look forward to your next visit!
